Last summer it was announced that Vivid was making a remake of The Devil in Miss Jones with Jenna Jameson and Savanna Sampson directed by Paul Thomas. I can't find any news on the title since then. Does anyone know what happened to this title?
I saw an article dated as far as January this year and apparently, they were shooting it back then (unless the article was posted really late).
Maybe it was delayed or canceled 'cause they realized how futile it is to attempt a re-make of one of porn masterpieces. There is a remote chance they are still working on it but I can't imagine it can take more than a year to shoot a porn flick, even on film. Also IMDB doesn't mention anything on DMJ in Jenna's/Savanna's profile.
Interesting, I was able to find the article you were talking about in January that talked about a nine day shoot. The articles from August mention a four day shoot back in August. Georgina Spelvin (the original Miss Jones for those who don't know) was supposed to have a cameo in it. I have no hope that it will be on par with the original, however, I'd still like to see PT's remake of it. His work has impressed me in the past and from what I read he went through a lot to have Georgina give her cameo so he obviously feels that what he is making is worth something. Too bad Vivid doesn't post here anymore and can't give any info on it.
I was reading another thread about quality classic dvd's and instantly thought that some companies should release some "remakes." Shot on 35mm following the original story as close as possible. Is it feasable or marketable though? As soon as I see "original part 12" I might think three times before picking up "original redux."
Don't know if any of you saw the "Porno Valley" series that they broadcast here in the UK/Ireland on Sky One, but they featured the shooting of the remake on a couple of the shows. There were interviews with Savanna Samson (reality style) on the set and before or afterwards as she talked about her scenes, etc. And Georgina is indeed in the film, but Savanna wasn't totally impressed as she tried to "out act" Savanna in some of the non-sex scenes. It's been a while since I saw the series, but I do remember there was some conflict.
Actually, one or two of the titles they were shooting during the run of this series looked interesting, but when I tried looking for info as to whether they were out or coming out, I couldn't find anything. I even tried the Vivid website. I guess some of their titles can taking a good while before they become available. Possibly many months!
Thanks Zoid, I missed that thread (I spend very little time in Star Crossed). I had e-mailed her a little while back and she sent me the same response but I forgot to post it. According to Vivid there should be some information on the release of DMJ in a few months time.
The film gets released on October 5, 2005 in a limited edition release. It does contain the original DMJ. The masters for it came from VCX so I expect it'll be the same version as they just released on their Ultimate Edition of DMJ.
From what I've heard this movie is mucho dark, and pretty freaky. They have the trailer up on AdultDVDEmpire.com . Savanna is playing Miss Jones and I think Jenna is playing the Devil type character. Although Jenna has the cover since she will probably sell better than Savanna (sad, but true. Still luv ya Savanna)
She wasn't impressed because someone did a good job of acting? This might be cause for concern when the lead actress in the movie felt that supporting actresses outdid her :/

That has to be one of the most stylish trailers I've ever seen for a porn movie. I really want to check this movie out now. As a plus, I saw in the trailer credits that Raven Touchstone (a sex writer, who wrote the screenplays for several of John Leslie's VCA movies) is a co-writer on this project. Is the movie really 3 hours long?
I just started watching it. This isn't your usual Vivid movie. The first scene is a gang bang. It ends with the girl just COVERED in cum. Not what I expect from Vivid. Savanna does a great job in the lead as well.

The start of this film got me interested and the ending was quite well done too, but the bulk of the film was too arty farty for my taste - lots of jump cuts and flashbacks. And, oh yes, Nick Manning was in the middle part - he should be made to wear a ball-gag in every scene he's in(which would not have been out of place in this movie) so he does not come across as a Neandathal suffering from Tourette's Syndrome.
- The picture quality is awful (like heart of darkness). It looks like something downloaded off limewire. Vivid should watch fashionsistas to see how film should look.
- Editing is awful. Very choppy.
- All the girls looked well below par given how beautiful some are. Make up, hair, the lot.
- Phone (forced on me) sex ads, dildo ads, trailers, bog-standard bonus scenes and pay-per-view VOD videos are bonuses but very crap bonuses.
- BTS seems like an afterthought as usual.
- Took years to finally be released
- Pointless multi-angle scenes
- Crap chapter menu
i could go on
Good Points
- Savannah Samson is in it.
- The original movie is included.
- Nice box
Given that Vivid are meant to be the top company in the biz, they're product is overall very lame indeed.
