"Mad Men," a porn parody I was SO looking forward to, is a total disaster, imho--but I still wish someone, who "knows" what they are doing, will make another.
In perhaps the worse presentation of any parody, (and that's saying a LOT,) Devils Film Director Sammy Slater, turned out a disjointed, hard-to-follow hodge podge of total garbage, resembling the original television series, about as much as george w bush resembled a "real" American president!
Only one of Slater's performers reflects an image of the actual TV characters, with perhaps the "worse" effort to "copy" on the original, being played by Tommy Gunn, as "Roger," wearing a comical-looking, "off-balanced" gray wig, which threatened to fall off at any given moment--I know this is porn, but please, fellows, some effort, especialy for a parody, would be appreciated.
To make matters worse, Slater in his "infinite" directorial genius, chose several obvious non-smoking women in various key roles, and the January Jones character role, played by Phoenix Marie, was not seen smoking a cigarette the entire movie---definitely not a "true" projection of the TV role model, who smokes frequently in every episode, as all who have seen the series (except Slater) are well aware.
Here, as in the actual "Mad Men," is a series, supposedly set in the early l960's, when smoking was considered to be a big part of the "new freedom," American women were experiencing, as they came out of the home for the first time in "full force" and joined the nation's workers in something other than war-time assembly line
jobs--which, of course, meant many office positions.
Thus, in what was expected to be a period piece, and to be "true" to the historical times, Devils Films and Slater should have had, and filmed, many women smoking their cigarettes with the sexy finesse of accomplished smokers, but instead, his female performers "puff" timidly away, like a bunch of teen age girls learning to smoke for the first time at their "slumber partys," which "sleep overs" were called back then--to be fair, there was ONE woman in the entire film, who looked like she knew what to do with a lit cigarette, played by one of the advertising agency's clients.
Also, one would expect, for a parody, much effort to recreate something resembling the actual stage sets of the original show, but again, "NADA,"-- another reason why this Devils Fims parody of "Mad Men," is "Deadsville Man," to quote one of the more used phrases of the 60's.
I will give Slater cedit for selecting a close resemblance to the principal "Don Draper," character role, but after that, any replica of Devils Films' parody to the real "Mad Men," is "NOWHERE MAN!"
Mods, feel free to move this. if it belongs in the "features," section--I am never quite sure.
