I just saw Access Hollywood's preview for tomorrow's show. They showed a clip of Diane Sawyer interviewing Belladonna. It looked like Belladonna was talking about her decision to leave the biz.
Diane Sawyer is going to be doing a story all about the porn industry. Hopefully it's not going to be more anti-porn propaganda (an inside look at the dark, seedy world of sex, exploitation and murder, or something like that.)
Anyway, I'll be watching and I know many of you will too.
Cheers.

I would love to see a little 'special' footage of Belladonna vs. Diane Sawyer. That would be a great ratings sweep.

Seriously though; I doubt that mainstream media will portray pornography in any positive light.

Can you imagine Belladonna describing to Diane Sawyer how she takes a baseball bat up her ass? Will the good questions be asked? That would be a great day in America.

I saw excerpts from the interview this morning on The View. From what I saw, I am not only disappointed in the irresponsible, one sided "journalistic" approach Diane Sawyer took, but I am also disappointed with the way in which Belladonna portrayed herself as a VICTIM of the porn industry. I have always been her biggest supporter, and I'm sorry to hear that she's been subjecting herself to things she regrets.

What I found so disgusting though, was witnessing 5 bitter women cackle about how "sick" this industry is-- drawing those opinions from nothing other than stereotypes and cliches, while only perpetuating a myth in the name of ratings.

I was embarrassed to be a woman today.

i think the simpsons said it best when they parodied "The View" with a show called "Afternoon Yak" ...

i caught of bit of the view today as i was getting ready for work - that evil guy from American Idol was on - the way they were so interested in what this guy had to say absolutely floored me...

i can't see how anyone can be interested in a person who hurls insults at another...

sorry to hear that belladonna presents herself that way in the interview - i'll have to check it out tomorrow...

Oh, Mason, this is so disappointing to hear. However, some porn fans (on this forum and others) predicted all along that it would just be another hatchet job on the porn industry. It seems the media's main concern is, as you mentioned, ratings (which means money) rather than presenting an unbiased story with balanced coverage. I still love Belladonna, but I'm very sorry to learn of this. Sad.

I think that it's a mistake for anyone involved in the porn industry to do anything on mainstream TV unless it is aired LIVE . No matter how careful someone is, comments can easily be taken out of context to make the industry look bad.

I absolutely LOVE Belladonna. She's talked to us at Evil Angel about how SHE felt the interview went. She says that they floored her on quite a few subjects where they obviously didn't care about her point of view on it.
She also says that she said lots of firm, wonderful things about the adult business.

I'm actually pretty disappointed in Mason. Why don't you wait and see the whole interview first before you talk negatively about Belladonna and what she did or didn't do? With all the good things she DID say about the adult business, I'm still sure that Primetime will edit most of them out.
But it's times like these that the adult business needs to stick together, not pick each other apart.

Yes, I have a feeling that this will be one of the worst TV shows in a long time regarding the adult business. But no matter what happens, I still support Belladonna. I think most of us, if we are honest, have a few negative things to say about the adult business. But I'm proud to have her be in the public eye and representing someone like me.
At least she has the courage to go face-to-face with someone like Diane Sawyer and not try to hide behind anything.

In what ways did Belladonna portray herself as a victim? The one thing about her that stands out most strongly, and why I love her so much (and that's from a personal -- though obviously fanboy -- perspective) is how she's so madly empowered by her porn life. She's a fuckin' astronaut of sex! TV news is a pile of shit, and it doesn;t have to be, but having very close friends very high up in that world, I know how ultimately bogus it all is. And it's getting worse than ever ... especially the news magazines.

Tricia, I am curious: Have you ever felt, or ever seen examples of, mainstream media coverage that got it right (as complex as "it" is) or, at least, where you felt that the reporter/writer made an honest effort to portray things in a realistic light, good or bad? I think I'm aware of every single porn article that's run in the last 5-6 years, and I know of maybe one or two that I thought delivered the goods. But, I wonder what you think ...

And not to be "catty" or in any way "sexist," but I'd bet those kaffe klatch hostesses on "The View" haven't had their six-figure pussies licked in weeks, if not longer. And I'd double bet that whoever their husbands or boyfriends are have probably jerked off to something featuring Belladonna sometime in the last year ... or close to it. Then again, those high-flown media types cum from sniffing that aroma off of their new Prada outfits. If only they shopped at the "Fashionistas" boutique, we wouldn't be having this discussion. [;:]

I think we should wait and see the interview in it's entirety before we talk about what was said. The networks always pick out what sounds like alarming and shocking statements from the interview when they advertise it. Usually when you see the interview in it's entirety, you have a different feeling about what was said.

Yeah, I am interested to hear the interview in its entirety. But, it still will most definitely be askew from what the whole bulk of what was actually said. You can snip and cut anyones comments to support your views, and I am very afraid that the spin doctors chewed Bellas words to shit. Out of context answers, editing, its all nonsense.

Mason, I respect you, but without an example of what she said that was so negative, I am left in the dark as to what she said that was awful. I DO NOT KNOW Belladonna personally, I have met her and interviewed her once, but she never gave me any impression that she hated porn, or regretted anything. In fact, she talked about watching her scenes, being EXTREMELY proud of Fashionistas, loving Evil Angel, and enjoying ever guy she has worked with. So, aside from the fact that every porn star might have a crappy day at work, I am amiss and curious as to what she has a problem with in porn.

As for the media, Diane Sawyer and her network can dissect, dilute, and demolish anything they get there greasy, vulture claws on. The View, in my humble misogynist opinion only offers one view, that of a victim society with predators around every corner. They will attempt to manipulate anything to get their 'view' across. But at the end of the day, when they remove the 100 lbs of makeup they wear because they are so liberated, I don't think porn will have anything to worry about. In fact, kudos if mainstream America doesn't want a part in porn, it will allow for more creativity and less trying to become palatable to those who probably have coal mines for genitalia.

Reserving judgement is something I should have learned from Diane Sawyer and her lackeys yesterday. I was obviously taken in by the hype and reacted on something that I'm hoping was taken out of context. I will reserve judgement until after I see the interview in its entirety tonight.

Good advice for us all. Who knows, maybe ABC will actually do a decent, fair piece. Not that I'm optimistic.

But I do agree that "The View" should make you embarrassed to be a woman.

I, like many other of you, are very curious to watch tonight. I agree that the mainstream media is rarely the friend of anyone in the adult industry. I've been with Belladonna the last year and a half that ABC has followed her around. Bella is one of the most open, honest, giving people that I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. These reasons are why many of you enjoy her so much, whether you are in the industry or merely an observer of her work. It takes strength and guts to allow someone into your life as she did. No matter how the show turns out tonight, I think we should all show Bella support and remember that it's not easy to be her. I love you Bella!

Tricia or Calli - Is there any chance you could ask Bella if she wouldn't mind popping in here and giving her own opinion on how the documentary turned out sometime when it's suitable for her ?.

Since when has the media ever been anything other than a sensationalistic fountain of propaganda? Of course it's going to be a screw job.

I'll never forget the story a family member told me about a local news reporter that was doing investigative journalism on the business she was working at for a national news outfit. He badgered and prodded for four hours until he got his twelve second sound-bite near the end of the fourth hour. Of course, that twelve seconds was enough to make the company look like an uncaring corporate entity overlooking the plight of the three "victims" they rounded up.

Every time I see one of those news pukes I know not to trust them any more than a stock brokerage or most branches of the government. The average porn star has more morals than your typical investigative journalist.

The abc.com article accompanying this interview doesn't look so positive. :(

I gave it 20 minutes. Seems to me, as a consumer looking in, that the porn idustry is like most most others. There is good, there is bad and there are people you need to stay away from. I don't think anyone or any news network should wag its finger at other people and the choices they make. I'm sorry to refute Dr. Coop but I don't hate women and I don't hate myself for enjoying porn. Sex is natural, any other point of view, at least to me is...unnatural.

Michelle Sinclair was interesting on the program. However, it is always dangerous to generalize from 1 person to all performers. Anyway, the media shows the angle it wants the viewers to believe.

Diane Saywer says: Belladonna's most recent movie [Fasionistas] is a disturbing marathon of anal sex and S&M.

Strange.

Wonder if they got permission to use that clip from Fashionistas?

the feminist in me is speaking up for women's rights. this shit pissed me off. they never would have acted like Jeremy Jordan or Jason Law were victims of the porn industry. they both started very young and are still going strong! they use the whole WRONGFUL bias that women are easily sucked into shit. that's so lame!

that may be middle america's feeling but it's not truth! women only do what they allow to be done. it's so wrong for people to think that this entrapaneurialship (sp?)isn't EMPOWERING. independence is not even mentioned .

I watched that whole shit, what a waste of an hour in my life, nothing positive was said, lots was taking out of context.

But on the bright side, I did see Joey at the very end, sitting behind Nacho, the one highlight of the show.

I really didn't want to watch this, but having met Bella, I would see how this went, and in my opinion, not good.

How about her mother trying to become her manager! So much for any sympathy I might have been developing towards her.
The show will probably have a reverse effect. Watch for Bella's movies to become more in demand than ever. I should have kept "Buttwoman iz Bella!

Well, the whole "higher moral" ground attiude of Sawyer and Coop was just bullshit. My
only question is who was
Belladonna's friend who's shown doing an interracial scene herself at the end of the show. Worth checking out. Anyone recognize it?

"The porn idustry is like most most others..."

Yup.

As if porn is the only that coerces or forces you to do things above and beyond what your position calls for, or considers you an expendable resource. People are being prostituted in every industry on this planet, and you can place regulations and laws all over the place but there will always be poor working conditions for some.

It would be interesting to see all the "well paid" researchers and people behind the scenes making ABC and Diane Sawyer rich... As if ABC or any of their parent companies (or CEO) or subsidiaries have never use and abused the poor slobs working beneath them.

Bella has always seemed like a genuinely nice person to me, and if her life is really that miserable because of the choices she made I'll offer her sympathy as she is still a human being, but not because she is some expended teenager run one too many times through the porn wringer. Just as some of my friends and family are human and had to suffer through horrible working conditions based on choices they made.

This should be a busy thread....

Just watched the show !

I'd be curious to know how many "Bella" movies will be sold over the next few weeks !
Maybe she's more intelligent than all of us and saw a great opportunity to get a lot of press, and get her "contract"

btw, what's that movie they kept refering as "the movie shot in Prague"

going but what little could be made out my best guess is the performer who went by the name Gia. I know she did a Service Animals with Bella and I think I may have seen her in something by Red Light.

It's Gia, the clip we saw on the show is from RLD's "Black Dicks in White Chicks #2" wich also stars Belladonna.
She's also the boxcover girl of "World Class Ass #1" also from Red Light District.

One annoying thing, from a strictly professional standpoint, is how cliched and regurgitated the "reporting" was. Most of the info in the script that Sawyer read from has been in print already, in the Sunday New York Times magazine, and that L.A. Times piece that ran and was highlighted on a recent thread. I'm shocked that ABC is so lazy. Generalities heaped on generalities, and I'm certain there have to be factual errors. (Did Bella REALLY go to the set of an Anabolic Gang Bang Girl NOT knowing what she was going to shoot? That seems dodgy. Also, they failed to ID almost EVERY film clip, and almost ALL the performers glimpsed ... that's so SLACK, just from a BASIC J-school routine. But it IS TV, which means
DUMB IT DOWN.) And MUST every porn expose open with the same EXACT scene of Jim South and some budding starlet?

I think one point is very valid: Why can't porn performers be unionized and have medical coverage?

And, Belladonna looked cuter than ever!

Thanks for ID'ing Gia for me, too. That had to have been an RLD clip.

And America can sleep easier tonight.

Also, porn is an intense business. Performers are literally putting their asses on the line. What normal human being wouldn't have some ambivalence about it all? Prize fighers, astronauts, soldiers, firemen, EMTs, cops, forensic detectives, 7-11 clerks ... They all put their lives at risk. Some of them get shitty pay. Some of them work in crappy conditions. But it's their choice.

I guess there was some subtle critique of capitalism going on there, but it was all so predictably skewed.

It was hard to follow the fuzzy chronology while keeping in mind the arc of her film career.

And what was this first scene Bella did where she was seemingly compelled to submit to an unwanted anal? Her clip in Anabolic Initiations was only a blowjob.

That report was so slanted and "edited to support negativity" that it was funny.

I know that there are a lot of things wrong with the industry, and I know that there are many women who are mistreated - but that's only part of the picture. I've seen more than enough sex industry positive reports to know that Sawyer's bit was laughingly non-objective.

Except for the bit where Belladonna cries and mentions suicide because of how worthless she feels (and there's no way I'm buying that out of whatever context it was in - besides which, many more mainstream people go through the same things), it was almost bizarre seeing her "happy" reactions juxtaposed with Sawyer's attempts to make everything seem serious and negative.

Even better were the bits with the perfectly normal house mothers next door into sex toys.

And, commentary on its objectivity aside (I won't even go into hardcore vs. erotica which was completely ignored), all throughout it I couldn't help but think about this: <grin>

Mythsong, regarding that nude pic of Diane, I'd bury my face in her bush in the most slanted way imaginable (even at Diane's present age).

Why the hell did they leave that out of the show? Ex-porno girl makes good as national news anchor. Nah, that'd never fly.

Yes, skronker, I guess it's just wishful thinking on my part. Even so, the actual Diane Sawyer would still be a welcome sex partner to me. Heck, I'd even settle for seeing her as Anabolic's next Gangbang Girl.
