I would like to re-read it as well as I had to post here from memory and it has been a couple of years since I have read that thread. I attempted a search but since the posts are in order within each category instead of just a list by date I was unable to locate it (and looking through JM Productions posts one by one would be cumbersome -- even with Janitor's displeasure at seeing their name on here there are 28 pages of posts at 100 per page on the search list of posts since August 1999). Revolutionise is a strong word. I would say he didn't. But I always thought he pushed the girls to their limits, which I liked better than the anonymous, mechanical for a paycheck type of porn that is prevalent these days. Wouldn't either Brandon Iron's Slap Happy or JM's Gag Factor have a better claim to 'bringing it out of the darkness' than Max? There the act is central to the videos. Max's early work was promoted more on the anal aspect and the age-play angle more than FF, as the titles clearly attest.

I agree. Basically introducing themes from Europe but not in a good way. Verbal abuse, anal and pissing is fine, but not the way Max does it. Max's stuff seems like it would fit in more today than it did in his heyday judging from what so many people in these threads seem to want from porn. Many of you seem to want rougher porn and the young girl theme is big right now through all the "family themed" porn. Bryan Jossling or whatever his name is, is basically doing a less creepy Max-lite type of porn with a more modern twist. I don't think Max was revolutionary or even had a major positive impact on porn but perhaps he would've gone over better in today's porn arena than he did decades ago. Many of the elements he used are more common today and the world of online porn sites seem to allow more over the top rougher and creepy stuff. In my mind much of today's harderstuff seems to be all about how much stuff can be done to a woman instead of hot sex.
Max changed gonzo completely for a number of years. From like the late 90s to the mid 00s it often was a brutal and scary time for performers to work in. But it all went back into a softer version of porn by the late 00s and now in this decade, that type of porn is pretty much a niche.
Maybe not so much today than 5 years ago or further back. Some might say that because there are only about 3-4 sites that offer a sort of similar type of porn that Max might be able to make a comeback but I don't think so primarily because there are so few sites that produce what I consider to be a very extreme misogynist type of porn that he simply couldn't carve a big enough piece of the pie to make the endeavour profitable. I think most performers will pick escorting or just about anything else over shooting for a Max Hardcore type video. At least with escorting they know that they won't be expected to vomit repeatedly all the while trying not to cry uncontrollably because they are being treated like shit for rent money.
^I don't deny that there were quite a few misogynist performers in the later Max era but they were for the most part mere shadows of their master when it came to treating women like shit. Understand that this is coming from a guy who was a huge fan of Max's earlier movies. As to how he got girls to appear in his movies. He probably paid quite well, managed to hire quite a few newbies who probably didn't comprehend exactly what was about to happen to them and once they realised it couldn't really get out of it without forfeiting the money by stopping the shoot and a percentage simply didn't care what happened to them. Whenever I think of what might entice someone to shoot for a guy like Max knowing that what they will be subjected to is significantly more extreme than your average hardcore shoot then I am remember Clayra Beau's episode with Facial Abuse and everything becomes clearer.
