Porn was hit doubly hard, as we all know because of the recession and the tube site epidemic. However, there are a decent amount of hold overs from the Gonzo explosion of 2000-2006, mostly playing milf roles now. My question is: why were male performers hit harder? What the hell happened to guys like Surewood, Dough, Long, Hardman, Juan Cuba, Sascha, Steven French, etc... Were they not as in demand as some of the bigger guys, or was the newer less agressive style of porn not to their liking
Didn't French leave to pursue mainstream acting? edit: I wrote "legit" acting. That's disparaging. I've changed it to "mainstream" acting. Edited by - killbillvol69 on 1/3/2014 8:43:34 PM
The porn tube sites have their fans but don't forget someone has to make porn to put in on the tubes sites. I used to love those sites but the same stuff is being played over and over again. We need new porn.

^ What about amateur stuff? To name a few, Homegrown Video, Glass Mannequin (Bring Me Your Sister, Real Colorado Girls), and Naughty Midwest Girls. For me, it's always fun finding the hidden gems.
How about age. Brian Surewood is 50, and dave Hardman is 53. Some of the others have ben talked about and Juan Cuba decided to move behind the camera and he appears to still be putting out titles. Some of the others I can't speak about because you only gave one name and there are multiple possibilities. Of course the simpler answer is that there are less male performers than women in the industry so if women got hit hard during the recession and the rampant increase in traffic to Tube sites then males were bound to be hit that much harder. The reality is that there are now so few porn shoots and studios don't pay the rates they used to that most males have gone elsewhere to earn a living.

I've seen some new guys recently but often don't see them again. I wonder if the "one and done" phenomenon extends to males in the business? Danny Mountain, Chad White, and Tyler Nixon off the top of my head are the guys I see a lot that Some of the guys getting work these days that I didn't see mentioned are Tony Rubino and Brick Danger (Bang Bros), Levi Cash, . There are also a few new names on the LA Direct Models website but I don't know of any scenes they've done.
