I always read Rabbits Reviews before joining a new site. In addition to steering me clear of rip-offs, they also usually have deals that will save you money on your initial membership. Very valuable resource.
I think MOFO's also do something like this now. Old-time members that had accounts before the change can still download, but anyone who joins now can only stream or has to pay extra for downloads. I don't watch stuff on my PC, so streaming is useless to me. I down stuff to a USB flash drive and plug that into a bluray player to watch. If I really like a scene and want to keep it, I will move it into a save folder on my computer until I have enough to fill a blank Bluray disc. I will never sub to a site that doesn't allow downloads. While Digital Playground isn't something I would bother with anyhow, I would have grabbed a MOFO's sub if they hadn't dropped downloads. Seems to me that offering the paying consumer less for their money is a good way to drive them elsewhere to acquire your content.

This is not really true. There are a few limitations and, essentially, a two-month waiting period on new scenes before you can download them for free. And, after the two-month period is up, you can download almost everything for free. I download DigitalPlayground scenes all the time! Perhaps, my comments in this thread will be helpful to you: No more downloads on Mofos?
^ Is it possible they have changed their download policy and you are grandfathered into the older one?Their restrictions and requirements seem arbitrary and confusing.

IMPORTANT: 2016-06-01 The downloads policy has changed since I posted it here. See further down the thread for updated information! It certainly is different than what people have been accustomed to, but it's right there up front. I don't think, with regard to DigitalPlayground, that I've been "grandfathered" into anything. (Although, with Mofos, I very well may have benefited.) The DigitalPlayground Downloads FAQ, which I posted in the Mofos thread I linked to, applies to everybody (not just members who have been around for a while). Basically, what DP is doing is preventing people from joining for a month, downloading everything and then disappearing -- which is precisely what many people have been doing. That's no longer a viable business model for a company that produces new content 12 months a year. Personally, I think DP has implemented a very fair system of carrots and sticks with their download policies. (Yes, now that I've worked with it, my opinion is far more favorable than when I initially posted about it in the Mofos thread.) So, while the original poster did not get what he expected, DP did not lie to him and did not cheat him. In fact, seldom have I seen company membership policies so clearly and transparently spelled-out, as DP has done with their FAQ FWIW, I have found DP to constantly be adding enough new content to make a "12 Month Full Access Membership Plan" more than worth it. Better yet, if you are already a Brazzers (PornPortal) member, add a DigitalPlayground "Lifetime Pornportal Members" membership to your account -- for only $50 -- when they offer it during one of their frequent sales, and start downloading DP scenes immediately. Here is the DigitalPlayground Downloads FAQ posted right now, April 4, 2016, on their website: http://ma.digitalplayground.com/member/faq/downloads/ IMPORTANT: 2016-06-01 The downloads policy has changed since I posted it here. ^No, you still have to pay, a graduated/dimishing amount, depending on longevity of your membership. But eventually becomes free if you maintain your membership for enough months. And you can speed up the clock by initially buying a longer-term subscription.
So your initial membership only buys you streaming privileges? What if I just want to download? Can I forgo the monthly membership and just download individual scenes for the rate they charge their members?

So I paid for the Lifetime PornPortal membership back in April just so I can get immediate download privileges. Everything was fine until yesterday when Digital Playground removed that option. I contacted them about it and this was the message that I got in return... Thank you for contacting us, Digitial Playground has changed their policy. Customers now have to pay to get the download option. You can pay either 19.94/ month or 79.94/ year to be able to download. I'm trying to keep my cool but this seems like a bait n switch to me especially when joined based on #3 on the Downloads F.A.Q.
^ Yeah, if immediate downloads were part of the agreement when you signed up, I don't see how they could just retroactively change the contract on you like that without prior notice and your consent. You need to kick up a fuss over that. All the BS I've read on this forum about the MindGeek Companies' billing practices and piss poor customer service has only reinforced my position on staying away from them. They abet piracy and their product is generally inferior as well, so really not that hard of a choice. Edited by - Mister Fahrenheit on 6/1/2016 2:25:21 PM
NOTE: I joined Digital Playground as a Lifetime PornPortal member on 2015-08-05, and am still able to download for free (except for the first two months exclusion when a new scene has been released, as has been the policy).
Obviously, there is a cut-off date where they changed the policy -- but damned if anyone will be able to determine what that date is
As of now, MindGeek has been respecting all my rights on all my memberships I have with them. Let's see what develops.
I think MindGeek is vastly over-playing their hand here, vis-a-vis downloads, and will be severely punished by the buying public should they continue along these lines

Now I'm pissed, they sent me an email stating that I can pay $79 to have my downloading privileges back. I don't like to bad mouth anyone but this is ridiculous! I've been able to download since April now they want me to pay extra for that. Wouldn't it be cheaper for me to invest in a top rated download manager?
I also joined Mofos.com under the same lifetime plan and am currently enjoying the ability to download videos from that site. I'm hoping they don't do the same thing that Digital Playground did.

For the past week or so, I've been seeing this "You Now Save" splash screen when I log into DigitalPlayground. Since the splash screen I see correctly shows me that, "You now SAVE 100% off your downloads," I haven't given it any real thought. Now that it is obvious that DP is changing things around -- and paid members are being affected differently -- we need to watch each others backs. Are any of the rest of you seeing a similar splash screen when you log into DP? If so, what does your message say? I'm assuming that the purpose of this splash screen is to encourage members to "upgrade" their memberships, if needed, to have "free" downloads. Edited by - Goldstein on 6/2/2016 7:48:13 AM
I'm getting that same splash page image and by looking at the terms I'll never get the chance to download without paying based on me being a Lifetime PornPortal member. I used the Reality Kings PornPortal to join Brazzers, MoFos, and Digital Playground. I really don't want to switch DP over to any of the other sites that they offer so now I'm stuck. I hate it because a lot of their older movies from the early 2000's are actually crystal clear.

^ Honestly, this doesn't agree with their current downloads policy (which I just posted on 2016-06-01). As a Lifetime PornPortal Member, you should be getting 80% Off -- right now. Almost looks like they are counting you down, as if you are a brand-new member??? If so, maybe after four more months (i.e. a total of six months since April 2016), you will reach "free downloads" status? PLEASE keep us informed as to how this progresses.

I just went to the DigitalPlayground website and found this (on 2016-11-20): WTF! The previously available and transparent DigitalPlayground Downloads FAQ is no longer available. (In fact, I also tried to access it from my saved URL link, and it just returns a "server error.") OK, after further searching, I was able to find the current Digital Playground Downloads FAQ posted as of November 20, 2016. see this post So, I will have to revise my opinion of DigitalPlayground, yet again, and agree with Slice Backhand that "DP is probably one of the harshest" with regard to its new "Full Premium" upgrade and pricing policy! FYI, the only option offered for the "Full Premium" membership upgrade is $19.95/per month -- and that's in addition to whatever "membership" option you're already paying for Edited by - Goldstein on 11/21/2016 9:49:11 AM
It's a trend that's gaining steam among various adult sites. You join once then have to pay to get other privileges. They don't tell you this until you've paid and are in the basic members section. Reminds me of cross sales. Why not just increase prices instead of this stupid tiered system that you tell the customer after he pays. Sooner or later customers will believe this is normal. You customers won't boycott though and this is the reason why they do it, they know you will pay up regardless.

^ Which is why it is critically important that we watch each other's backs, and why I take the time to post real factual information here -- as the websites do not disclose anything to you until after you've paid Interestingly enough, when I renewed my Brazzers membership earlier this year, my credit card company held up the transaction until they personally talked to me to verify that it was me placing the order, and that I knew what I was being charged for. My bank told me that they had been having a lot of complaints about this company, and are being extra cautious with approvals. Join a website... don't get what you expected... are refused a refund... are upcharged to enable downloads (i.e. what you thought you were buying in the first place)... I don't know that many people are going to be willing to pay in excess of $200/per year for sites that were less than half that amount less than a year ago. In fact, the "premium upgrades to enable downloads" usually cost more than the initial "membership" in the first place! Are companies other than Brazzers/Mindgeek now using similar "bait and upcharge" business models? Seriously. I've been receiving many "come back now" membership offers from sites that I've let lapse, at very tempting prices -- but I am now not trusting any of them. For example, Evil Angel has been offering me $69/per year to rejoin. FYI, I just checked Evil Angel's website, and they are stating upfront on the "membership join" page that membership includes "unlimited free downloads." Well, good for them :)

Here is the current DigitalPlayground Downloads FAQ found on November 20, 2016, on their website: It took some searching, but I was finally able to find it. (You already have to be a member and logged into your "Account" area of the website to be able to view the "Downloads FAQ.") So, it would seem that DigitalPlayground still has a path to downloads built into their regular full access membership plan(s), in addition to the "DP Premium" upgrade. Edited by - Goldstein on 11/21/2016 9:47:28 AM
i FIND it highly ironic that the people that pay for the memberships out of pocket gets cheated, when you can probably download the scene for free through torrents or streaming obviously. they need to ACTUALLY start to provide customer service and not take memberships for granted.
Why do I always have to download the full movie? I select a single scene and it even says "download scene", but it always downloads the entire movie. WHY?
They also have the worst camera work I've ever seen. Bad focus! Bad, bad focus! Bad lighting, too. They somehow think I'll pay for out of focus penetration. Just ridiculous. Their talent is great so it's too bad.
the 6 or 7 digital playground feature releases that have come out in the past year look absolutely gorgeous. it seems they are back to shooting features that look like actual hollywood blockbusters. i just ordered all of them on dvd and cant wait to watch them on my giant modern television as they are porn that will actually hold up and look good on it. from the pandemic until about 2023 it seemed they were just releasing dvd compilation of their web episode series scenes. these latest releases look like one connected film shot together continually like in the old days. anyone else seen these yet \ excited?
just a heads up there are 2 separate threads titled "digital playground" that show up when you do a search. there is this main discussion thread and one where a guy is just complaining about the download price. seems like that one should have been merged into this main thread.it was confusing as the thread title was identical and it said in the search each one had not been replied to since 2016. although this one has a few replies from 2017 and one from 2023.
