Is anyone else having this problem? The last five or six DVD's I've viewed from Digital Sin, Hot Boxx, or New Sensations, my DVD player isn't showing the chapter stops or running time. The content is just fine for the most part, but it's really annoying not to know how far into the DVD or an individual scene you are.
As I stated, I like their content for the most part, but I'm really disappointed in their DVD's from a usability standpoint. Presumably, this is some sort of DVD authoring issue, but whatever it is, I wish they would fix it.
I've noticed this too. In some of my DVD players there is no time stamp but in others it shows up. I usually review on my portable but it doesn't recognize the running time of NS/DS discs. My set-top does though- go figure.

Porn Scout isn't talking about listing a running time on the box, he's talking about the DVDs being digitally encoded so a running time shows up on your player when you're watching the movie.
I have complained about the no time coding on Digital Sin releases several times in several different Digital Sin threads. So far nothing has changed, and judging by Digital Sin's past track record it won't anytime soon. Even VHS tapes have a trackable time and it's 20 year old media. I guess Digital Sin doesn't think their viewers need to know BASIC things about the movie like:
-how much time has elapsed in the movie -how much time is left in the movie -how much time has elapsed in a chapter -how much time is left in a chapter
All I can say is the recent criticism of Digital Sin discs is 100% warranted. From the misleading box covers to no time encoding on the discs. To not time encode the discs is just plain lazy. It takes almost no extra effort and isn't difficult to do. This shows a total lack of care about the product they release to customers.
Yeah, that's also a problem like also the way every chapter starts at zero again so you can't see the total running time.

Appreciate all the responses. It's very frustrating, because I think they're doing pretty well on the content side of the house. I don't understand why they don't run the technical side of their business as effectively.
Who owns Digital Sin/New Sensations/Hot Boxx anyway? On this forum, we hear about the ownership of other companies (RLD/PXP, Ana/Dia, LFP, etc.), but Digital Sin's owners keep a decidely low profile, or so it appears.

They also won't list the aspect ratio on the package, which I am finding particularly frustrating.
Someone from DS does show up occasionally whenever a new thread gets started about them putting stills on the box that show acts not actually in the movie. They apologize, promise not to do it again, and disappear until a month or two later when it happens again.
But back on topic, I use a modified Xbox with some home-brew software for playing DVDs, and I definitely get a running time for DS/NS discs. The program I use only shows total running time for the title, not total time remaining, chapter time, chapter time remaining, but I do get a total time. Sorta interesting
DS just tries to get as much content out there as possible, with little to no quality control. I see that adult stores out here are carrying them less and less, which I think is good since DS needs a wake up call. If it werent for JYLC, I would avoid them altogether.
Scott Taylor is the President of Digital Sin. I believe (but am not 100% certain) that he owns the companies you mention. I don't know what the difference between New Sensations and Digital Sin is. I am not a NS/DS insider.
I guess it depends on the area and the store and how well they rent/sell. I was looking for a few of the new Julia Bond movies they have of her on the cover, and when I asked a worker in a couple of the stores around here, they said they dont get much DS/NS stuff anymore. I asked why and they said DS just doesnt rent as well as most other studios. My opinions on DS are mentioned in other threads so I will spare a repeat in this thread.
Yep, that's the lack of a time stamp that I refer to in my reviews. It always ticks me off, mostly because from what I'm told it takes next to nothing for cost or effort to include it. The lack of it always brings my impression down on a DVD, and makes it easy to see why so many people look down at porn companies. When's the last time anybody picked up a mainstream DVD without a time stamp?
