What are the biggest problems involved when directing a porn video ?
Is it alot more difficult than we probably all think ?

Keep in mind that the job description of Gonzo Porn Director encompassed responsiblities of at least a half-dozen other people/departments when compared to even low-budget indie film productions. These might include, but are not limitted to:

Producer
Unit Production Manager
Casting Director
Director of Photography
Gaffer
Camera Operator
Sound Recordist
Caterer
Editor

Of these, being the director might be the easiest.

Tony, you forgot the most important role for most gonzo directors: performer.
Without knowing what you know, I would say yes.
Well... not really. Like I said recently, making porn is not so difficult. Making GOOD porn OTOH...

Well , I have never made porn , except for some custom videos that turned out pretty good.
Obviously , I am referring to well made porn because any idiot can direct crappy porn.

I guess that maybe I should rephrase the question. How difficult is it to get the cooperation of the participants , generally speaking ? And before anybody says that "every situation is different " , I already know that !! I am simply trying to find out what some directors go through , when making a video.

Of all the thing a main stream director might do (in addition to directing), appearing on camera (often as the lead) is probably the least surprising.

I don't expect we'll see Spike Lee doing craft services any time soon.
