I am planning on ordering a bunch of DVDs this weekend and was hoping you guys could help me out with a few questions…
The ones I'm choosing from are:
New to the Game vol. 1 and 2 (Diabolic) – director: Sid Knox
Rack It Up (Diabolic) – director: Gregg Alan
Gaped Crusaders vol. 1 and 2 (Hustler) – director: Van Styles
About Face vol. 5 (3rd Degree) – director: Chris Streams
Dirty Rotten Mother Fuckers (Jules Jordan) – director: Chris Streams
Boobaholics Anonymous vol. 3 (Jules Jordan) – director: Mike John
Bang That Black Bitch White Boy vol. 2 (Red Light) – director: Diana Devoe
Fucking Me POV vol. 2 (Red Light) – director: Mark Wood
Rain Coater's Point of View vol. 6 (Red Light) – director: John Strong
Juggernauts vol. 5 (Mayhem) – director: Jim Powers
I am not an American myself but I do want to support the American part of the business (been "growing up" with American porn and prefer it to most of the stuff that is produced in France, Italy, Buda, Prague, St Petersburg, etc, etc, etc) and therefore wonder if all of the directors above are Americans? I know that John Strong was born in Russia but I'm guessing he's a Russian-born American? A reason that I ask this is also that I have very little (if any) respect for those who move permanently to the US where they are given the most amazing opportunities (getting paid for having sex with beautiful women, for instance) and still can't find it in their heart to call the US their homeland (yes, I'm looking at you Erik "O Canada" Everhard). Thank you in advance.
Also, if you can tell me if any of the flicks in the list above contain licking of man-ass or peeing (and that includes fake "squirting") that'd be much appreciated. I have nothing against people who like that kind of stuff but what can I say – I just don't like it.
Best regards
Jimmy from Sweden

Okay, so you're anti-American, so you don't want to support American businesses. So rather than not buying DVDs from American companies, you tell yourself that you are doing a good thing by not buying DVDs from American directors. Great rationalization there buddy.
I am a Canadian citizen by the way.

I believe you totally misread his post.
It appears that Jimmah wants to support American businesses and American porn and dislikes non-Americans who move to the US but do not take up US citizenship.
Bit of an interesting rationale for buying porn if you ask me, though. I tend to choose to buy good porn because it's good. Regardless of the nationalities of anyone involved.

I can't help with the question of the post, but you have some good picks there with Van Styles and Sid Knox especially. Gaped Crusaders is a must for anal fans.
I suspect Sid Knox is an alias - but I have no idea - whoever he is, he just hit as a director this year.

whoops, sorry if I misread the post.
In regards to peeing or man ass licking - if you go to iafd.com and look up each individual movie, there might be reviews posted about the movie. The reviews might mention if there is peeing or male ass licking.

"if" you misread the post? I wrote that I "want to support the American part of the business" and you called me "anti-American" and you're still not sure if you misread my post or not... Good lord.
With regards to your recommendation, I did browse through the reviews but most reviewers don't say if there's peeing or licking of man-ass in a movie which obviously might mean that there is none of it in the movie but it might also mean that the reviewer didn't think it was neccesary to mention that the movie did include those things.
And that's the way it should be. It's just that while I'm at it (buying good porn) I might as well support American producers and directors as best as I can.

It's a common phrase in English. ("sorry if I /whatever/") The "if" isn't really that important as it's a way of apologising.

Yeah, Scipio was right. I was apologizing. Sorry again! I've just become so used to Europeans bad-mouthing the United States. It's nice to see one that doesn't hate the USA.

This is an interesting concept...do you hold any respect for Americans that permanently move to another country but still call themeselves Americans or will not call that country their homeland?

That's a fair question. My answer: it depends on the situation. Give me a few examples of Americans that have done so and I will tell you. If a guy is traded away from a sports team, for instance, it's not that much he can do about it...

This business is so international. "Hollywood movies" are being shot all over the world using a lot of non U.S. talent even in the U.S.
You picked Chris Streams titles. He is U.S. citizen, a great guy and good friend of mine. We worked together in Los Angeles, Prague and Sao Paulo. And for 2008 we are planning some more trips around the world.
Same with Mike John. We worked together in Budapest, Prague, Montreal and Santiago de Chile. And of course Los Angeles.
John Strong by the way is Russian. He was born as a Ukrainian citizen and now he has the U.S. citizenship, but he is still Russian. Like I was born in Romania, live now part time in Budapest and in Los Angeles but I'm German.
Who told you Erik moved permanently to the U.S.? He never planed on staying there permanently. But as long as he is there he makes typical U.S. hardcore gonzo. And better than most.

Well I don't know of any famous people but trust me, I live in Canada and I have met many people who now reside in Canada but don't call Canada their "homeland".
They weren't pro athlete's that have been traded either. They were just people that had regular career opportunities that brought them to Canada.
There's one guy that drinks at the same local pub as me. He is an American. He came over for some other business opportunity(I can't remember what it was) and it didn't work but now he's a professor at a University here in Toronto. He still considers himself American and the U.S as his home/homeland.
How about in this situation?

Well, I guess we see the world differently, Mr. Holmes. I don't give a rat's ass about ethnicity (such as "I'm an ethnic Russian, and therefore I can't be an American"), while you apparently do. Since there is no such thing as an ethnic American (Native Americans excepted) I don't care if he-John Strong-is an ethnic Russian or not. What I care about is where his allegiance lies. If it lies with "Mother" Russia, I won't spend 1 more buck on his products, it's as simple as that.
One thing that I really love and admire with the US and Canada is that you can be born on a secluded island in the Pacific Ocean or on the outskirts of Karachi and still become as American or Canadian as the guy who was born in the US or Canada. That is something that is more or less non-existent in this part of the world (Northern Europe).
Btw, thank you for pointing out that "[Erik Everhard] never planed [sic] on staying [in the US] permanently". I just supposed that since he's been living there since 1998 he was a permanent resident but you're saying that as soon as he has milked the cow he's heading back to his beloved homeland? Good to know.

Well, obviously if you choose between two jobs, one as a professor at a University in Michigan and one as a professor at a University in Ontario and you decide to take the job in Ontario because you, for instance, want to meet new people, of course there is no need to call Canada your homeland or home country or whatever. What I'm getting at are people who move to a "rich" country (obviously both the US and Canada are rich countries but I guess few, if any, would disagree with me if I say that the US, or more specifically California, is superior when it comes to porn) from a "poor" country and still talk about how wonderful everything is in "my home country" and how "I want to move back". If you want to move back and if you consider another country better move back, simple as that. Easier for me would probably be to explain what it feels like listening to immigrants (at work) from Albania bash Sweden ("everything is so much better in Albania") but I guess you get my point anyway.

I can appreciate your view/point.
I'm not sure it would effect the way I buy porn though. My other head does the thinking when it comes to what porn I buy....lol.

Well, obviously if you choose between two jobs, one as a porn director in the San Fernando Valley or one as a porn director in Canada or Germany and you decide to take the job in the San Fernando Velley because you, for instance, want to meet new people, of course there is no need to call the U.S. your homeland or home country or whatever.
Right?

Geez people, i wasn't aware that a foreigner making money in porno was a crime, i do pay my taxes y'know. I'm not sure what some utter devotion to america has to do with any of this, i've never stated that i don't like america, it's a nice place. I've lived here quite a long time, if it was that bad wouldn't i have moved? Hockey players play hockey in america and all over the world, but when it comes to the olympics they play for their HOME country, where they were born, you'll always have a greater attachment to where you're from, that doesn't mean you can't travel to some other places a create business there. Ask anyone that knows me including steve, i'd personally rather live in eastern europe, not canada, been dreaming about it for 7 years. But i'll always be canadian, unless the US government wants to give me a passport ;)

I agree.
I've noticed on several occasions that Swedes tend to judge people according to which countries they come from.
No offense to lovely Sweden, but I find Swedish porn extremely artificial and an absolute turn-off. All the DVDs I bought went straight to the trash; not only is the acting horrible, but the sex is mechanical and repulsive.
In the 60's Swedish porn was good for its time but what happened meanwhile? I don't know.

What is the matter with a Canadian keeping their citzenship while living in the states?
Canada is still where their family lives, and there are some distinct cultural differences between Canada and the US that any Canadian is aware of, which may make them not want to ever say they won't return to Canada.
A friend of mine was making a lot of money in the states but moved back to Canada with his family after 9/11 because he didn't like where the country was moving politically.

I also find Jimmah's line of thought to be very odd indeed. Especialy the "milked the cow" stuff. I'd have thought a European would certainly understand the concept of moving to another country temporarily for work purposes.
Given that the English-speaking porn industry is pretty much centred on one small area in LA, it's a given that if you're going to make porn for US release, you move to LA for the time you're in the industry. Is there an equal knock on performers from other nations who move to LA while they're working in the industry? Fuck that bitch Jodie Moore for moving back to Australia after she finished doing porn!(?) Besides, you'll miss out on some damn good porn. Quaze's stuff doesn't get constant good reviews because he's an ADT regular and so is sucked up to, it's because he's good at what he does.
Not to mention "Hollywood" movies or talent as Steve mentioned. The Matrix, Star Wars 1-3 all being shot in Australia.. X-Files shot in Canada.. and so forth.

As I wrote earlier, there's a pretty huge difference between working in Canadian porn (or German for that matter) and American (or rather Californian) porn and therefore I believe one can't compare that situation with a situation where you choose between working as a Professor at a University in Michigan and a U. in Ontario. You could, however, compare it with a situation where you choose between working as a Professor at the University of Augsburg and Harvard University ;-)
Anyway, let's agree to disagree, Steve. I got information the other day that all of the directors I mentioned except John Strong are American so I just scratched his movie off the list (11 movies are quite enough anyway lol). I noticed that you did a scene with Allie Foster in Boobaholics Anonymous (vol. 3). You didn't get your ass licked in that scene, right? If you did, that one will unfortunately also have to go off the list (to see a guy get his ass licked is one of the best wood killers IMO).
Lastly, who is this Dick Dawes character who shoots for Red Light in Europe? I've seen your name in the cast list of every movie he's shot for Red Light so far so I would guess that you know a thing or two about him? The girls in Sexual Rage (vol. 2) look awesome... love Sandra, Lulu and Helena Sweet... sadly, though, since I have licking-of-man-ass-o-phobia, I dare not spend my hard-earned svenska kronor on it.
PS. It's sad that the other guys at RLD can't spend a few months in St Petersburg, Budapest and Barcelona shooting tons of porn with the finest female talent of Eastern Europe and Spain. A shame really... As of now Mr Pete, Michael Stefano and Mark Wood all seem to shoot in LA and almost every one of their movies looks the same (except the movies have different names...) DS.

Hi Jimmah,
I don't really care where you spend your money. I just find this approach kind of funny.
You can keep John Strong on your list. He moved to the U.S. as a child and got naturalized many years ago.
As an insider I can assure you, that's not true. We really live in a globalized world and economically it is even an advantage to shoot U.S. porn outside the U.S.. Rocco Siffredi, Christophe Clark, David Perry and myself all live in Budapest but distribute our product in the U.S. We sell as much as our U.S. colleagues but have lesser expenses and fever cost of living.
I really don't know. I shoot to much to remember many details of each scene.
I never heard this name. But that is the same with most movie titles. When people book me, I come, do my scene and leave. I never asked what will be the title and what fake name will you use?
Nobody here calls me Steve Holmes. ;-)
It's just not economical. The travel expenses add to the production cost and you compete with producers who work locally without that extra expenses. Chris Streams and I just love to travel and accept the lesser profit.
I wish you a lot of fun with your movie selection and best regards.

So he's a Ukrainian-born American of Russian descent then lol
Well, as I said, 11 movies might be quite enough for the moment but I love the cast so who knows.
I think you misunderstood me. What I meant was who the director Dick Dawes is (he has directed Fuck it Like it's Hot (vol. 1) and Sexual Rage (vol. 1 and 2) for Red Light District and you have been in every movie he's directed so far). I had never heard of him before I found his flicks on Red Light's homepage. I just figured you had talked to him and knew him.
But Chris seems to have a different approach than most European directors: the only movies he performs in are his POV flicks. I guess that's great for guys like you, David Perry, Jazz Duro and Erik Everhard who get to have sex with all those beautiful Brazilian girls but I don't get how a guy can let other guys fuck those girls when he could do it himself lol
Thank you, I appreciate it.

Of course I know the real person, but I won't tell you his real name. If he or RLD decided to go with Dick Dawes, that's who he is.

Once again you misunderstood me, Steve, I never asked for his real name (I could not care less about the real names of porn directors, performers, cameramen, etc.). I just wonder who he is as in: where he's from, has he directed under another name before, is he new to the industry, things like that. Nothing that would put you in trouble, obviously.

I was born in the U.S. and I grew up in Ontario, Canada, all I know is that if the girls are hot, the sex scenes are great, and I can barely hold off from firing off some knuckle children then I will buy the video. I could care less if a director/performer is of another race, hell they can be from another planet, if the action is hot then that is truly all that matters.
The first porn I ever bought was Outnumbered, I saw the previews to this video and I knew I had to get it. I didn’t know who Steve Holmes or Erik Everhard were, but after going through that series I knew these guys were consistent in bringing quality porn.
There are so many great performers and directors out there that we should be thankful that they take the time to produce some high quality stuff, regardless of what race or nationality they are.
Special thanks to Erik Everhard, Steve Holmes and everyone else who participated in the Outnumbered series, Great stuff guys, and especially girls.

Steve, can you tell us anything about who Dick Dawes is? I think that what the earlier poster was asking is, is Dick some newbie to the porn world, or some Hungarian guy who did lighting for Private for the last 15 years and picked up some camera skills along the way, or whatever. Porn fans on this site know your background in the industry, they know about Rocco, Christoph, Manuel Ferrara, and so on, and wonder who this guy Dawes guy is, who made such a good debut with Fuck It Like It's Hot (at least as far as I know, that was his debut). No one is aking for any personal private information on the guy known as Dick Dawes, or at least I'm not, I just wonder about his background in the industry :-)

Dick Dawes films have the whiff of Andrew Youngman about them. Or JY Le Castel when he's not quite so gape-focussed.
