Normally the directors use a new name due to legal reasons (exclusive contract with one company as Pat Myne) or because they want to distance themselve from a film (like Mike Quasar). But why does Vivid director Paul Thomas direct under different names for Vivid? [Link]

Jim is the absoloute most prolific pornographer of all time and always will be. Jim has shot his work over the past 13 years, using over 40 differant names. What Jim does in porn is mind boggling and no other cameraman or director in the world could keep up with one third of his shooting schedule. I like the Stiv Gators DVDs that I have (Latex Housewives, Latex Soccer Moms); although I also like the Jim Powers DVDs that I have, he seems to capture the action differently when he uses the name Stiv Gators. Stiv Gators seems to use more full body shots and fewer close-up shots. Interesting. By the way, does anyone know if Sammy Sixx is better known by a different name? [Link]

I have DVDs by both directorial names. The Herve Bodilis DVDs seem to have a slightly more "couples-oriented" camera style and have more scenes of smaller duration (i.e. 8 scenes vs. 5 scenes in a 100 minute DVD). Maybe this is due to meeting different requirements of different studios. The women wear stockings and elegant lingerie and are made up beautifully in both Bodilis and Handsome DVDs; that is why I bought them. It seems believable that Bodilis and Handsome are the same director. I find it interesting that I can notice differences as well as similarities between DVDs of the same director when a different name is used. [Link]

I'm surprised when I see the behind the scenes on those particular titles because that's when it's painfully obvious who is really the director on the set. [Link]
