What do you guys consider the "dirtiest" movies of that era? Long Jeanne Silver, Waterpower, and the first Between the Cheeks jump out at me. LJS had the star namesake fucking a guy up the ass with her stub of a leg. Waterpower of course was about enema rape. Between the Cheeks is the first time I ever saw ATOGM when Summer Rose pulled a dick out of Auroras ass and sucked it as it came. Even the Hustler reviewer was a little shocked at that. He said something to the effect that's something Summer won't soon be doing again. Other movies involving lots of S and M also were pretty extreme and many of them had the great Vanessa Del Rio and Sharon Mitchell. Can you guys name some others and please give some details? There are many I haven't seen and would love some info and recommendations.

Did you ever see "Forced Entry" starring Harry Reems? It was by the same person as Waterpower.
Forced Entry (1973)
I am not sure if it was so much dirty as it was rough.

One of the many of the old Avon titles must be the winner of that accolade.

Waterpower is definitely the pinacle of 70s sleaze.
I would also mention many of the films of Zebedy Colt: Sex Wish ( a creepy serial killer/rape flick); Unwilling Lovers (Colt plays a retarded nercrophile) and Farmer's Daughters (more rape, pissing, cum being spit in a fellow's face, good times).
Joe Davian and Phil Prince pumped out various S/M flicks with a grim, seriousness, often featuring Vanessa Del Rio and Sharon Mitchell: Kneel Before Me, Story of Prunella and The Taming of Rebecca are Prince's best whereas Davian's best are Appointment with Agony, Domination Blue and Girls USA.
Alex De Renzy's films are a strange mixture of dirty and funny, his most outright malicious film is Femmes De Sade which has everything: rape, auto-fellatio, pissing, fake scat and a brief scene of a dog licking a woman's crotch!
His other films are more 'fun': Summer in Heat is a porn version of Deliverance with the great Jack Wrangler being sodomized with a corn cob; Pretty Peaches and Babyface are both great porn comedies that somehow also manage to feature enemas, rape, gangbangs, and incest.
Expensive Tastes and Winter Heat are also two lesser-known crazy flicks from the 70s. The first has Joey Silvera and his buddies participating in a rape 'scam' with some faked gay sex thrown in; whereas Winter Heat is one of the roughest things I've ever seen Jamie Gillis do in a feature, the scenes with a belt and another with oat meal and Bree Anthony that aren't too easy to sit through.
Armand Weston's Defiance (aka Defiance of Good) is a terrific S/M dark fantasy that features Jean Jennings being thrown into a psych ward for smoking drugs by her paranoid parents and being gang raped; which eventually leads to a nightmarish 'education' by her doctor (Fred Lincoln) in the ways of S/M. Weston followed this up with The Taking of Christina, which is actually an excellent rape/revenge b movie but with hardcore scenes. Highly recommended.

BlackSix got it. Waterpower takes the cake. Funny this should be the first topic of the day as I just watched my 16mm print of DeRenzy's Animal Lover last night. Now that's sick and sad...

Check out "The Devil Inside Her" with Annie Sprinkles.
She does an extreme rape scene in it with several men which also involved them peeing on her. It doesn't last too long, but what you see will stick with you.
She said in her bio that this scene caused her to take a break from porn.

I'd have to say anything with Annie Sprinkle. She did a lot of kinky shit and like she once said the only things she'd never done is kids or fuck a horse.

^ That's true. I have seen a lot of the Avon stuff and it definitely qualifies. I can't remember what the title is but I remember Jamie Gillis giving a blow job in a movie and of course the Desiree Cousteau comical enema directed by DeRenzy is a classic. Any others?

if dirty = rough,
nothing can beat the S/M Cole & Whitman's "Erotic Perversion" vignettes series: unlike Cole's other works for H.O.M and California Star, these ones were considered too rough for a US release.
if dirty = guilty thoughts,
"Taboo" has not been equalled yet!
oh and a couple of Karin Shubert / Marina Lotar mid-80's italian movies involving a pet dog..
otherwise, I agree that the DeRenzy, Avon etc.. stuff mentionned above qualifies.

Backdoorman, in case you don't know of it I would like to recommend for you Emanuelle In America. It's the dirtiest of Joe D'Amato's episodes in the great Black Emanuelle series. Teenage Twins should be mandatory too if you haven't seen it.

That I did. And I'd have to agree that California Star and H.O.M. are two that are really over the edge, but if you're into that, great I suppose.

Hardgore RULES!
Someone needs to put out an official release of that jem w/ a John Seeman commentary...
Before anyone says it, ABA's DVD made from a VHS off of their 16mm print with shitty VHS dropouts and the ABA bug in the bottom right corner does not pass for an official release.

Whether or not you consider it an official release I do believe that they own the exclusive rights to that title.

It' a PD film. SWV has also put it out under the title "Horror Whore" BEFORE ABA did.
I've investigated the vast majority of ABA stuff for copyright info (to determine whether or not their films are PD as I own prints of many of the film's they've released and have checked with copyright lawyers on a bunch I own and most of their titles, including "Hardgore," are PD.
In fact, if you check copyright.gov, a great many of their bigger budget features ARE copyrighted by other distributors, mainly Essex and VCA.
Back in the VHS bootleg heaven of the late 90s and early 2000s, ABA was looked at as the all XXX equivalent of SWV. Both looked for otherwise unavailable films to put out and did so usually from less than adequate sources.
The only thing that really separates the companies like SWV and ABA from the supposed real "bootleggers" is that SWV and ABA got their discs cold pressed.
ABA doesn't own the rights to any of their catalogue, it's all PD. SWV at least remasters their prints and has, since the late 90s, started getting the rights to films which are copyrighted. They also out good extras on their discs, unlike ABA.
Again, I know ABA is an "official distributor" but they're no more official than Alpha Video which is the king of crappy releases of PD films from the 40s.

I really didn't get into watching porn until around 2000, but since I have, I tend to enjoy a lot of the older movies. We have purchased a number of titles from Alpha Blue. I guess what I like is that when these movies were being made, nobody really knew what the "rules" were. They were being made up by the producers and..the courts..as they went along. So nobody knew just where the line was and I think the movies were more erotic and just plain dirty because of it. I'm not really a fan of a lot of the goofy plots, I tend to just like to see people get down to business, but I think the movies of the 70's in general were more "creatively dirty" than they are today.

That's the great thing about 70's porn, if it is well made it works as a good little movie, if it is badly made, it often is campy fun. It is only the substandard grinders that you need to avoid.

I second this statement from a poster named Yankee Doodel.
I am going to assume you might not be familiar with who Joe D'amato is.
He has done lots of great adult as well as horror stuff under a gigantic amount of pseudonyms. If he has been discussed already forgive me. I admit to not thoroughly reading every post after the first Yankee... one.

For those interested (and kind of amusing since I just rewatched ZOO), the horse scene is fake. No real penetration took place as far as I know.
The same may not be able to be said of the really quite horrifying "dog scene" in D'Amato's even sleazier Emanuele Around the World....

I don't believe any penetration is implied, though were it to be the question would be secondary in my opinion. I've never assumed that the scene in Emanuelle Around The World was real. I consider Emanuelle In America to be somewhat the sleazier of the two, but I would certainly recommend that one too.

Backdoorman, be prepared to watch one of the worse films ever made when you pop Emanuelle in America into the DVD player, and I don't mean that in an entirely negative way.
Around the World is also great/terrible.

That he did. Check out Necromania, The Young Marrieds, and The Only House (which may not actually be XXX, I've never seen it).
Also, you can see Ed's old saggy ass on proud display in the stupid soft-X film The Love Feast by Joseph F. Robertson, the guy who also brought us the abominable classic The Crawling Hand as well as the strange XXX pics. Lovemaking USA and A Dirty Western...

Necromania definitely exists in a hardcore edit as I have it on DVD from Fleshbot. The Only House in Town (The Only House) also exists in a hardcore edit. The person who owns the print for Necromania that Fleshbot used owns it. It was supposed to be released on DVD by Fleshbot as well but that never occurred. I'm surprised the owner hasn't sought out a company like After Hours Cinema to release it along with Necromania (since the Fleshbot disc is long out of print). I don't know about The Young Marrieds. Excited and Take it Out in Trade may also have had hardcore versions.

That would be Rudolph Grey I believe.
AHC would jump at he chance to release that double feature (they were lucky enough to do a legit release of Forced Entry w/ Shaun Costello's help).
I know for a fact that they have in their possession a print of Necromania (whether or not it is the XXX cut, I do not know). I think I'm gonna suggest such a release.
They are currently working with Carter Stevens to put out a mammoth box set of his films as well. Two Eduardo Cemano box sets will be coming out soon.
I have the SWV tape of the Take it Out in Trade rough cut. It very well could have been hardcore. Excited I've never seen anything from.

Without a DOUBT, The hottest sex in the seventies was at Caballero/Swedish Erotica. The eighties would be up for debate? VCA/RaunchoRama. Ever since the early nineties EVIL ANGEL and like companies have ruled. Those Swedish Erotica loops with John Holmes started everything for me.

The first video to ever win the AVN award was called "Blue Voodoo" It has a few scenes in it that are way out there. In one JFK and Marily Monroe put on a suck and fuck show laced with political barbs. Vanessa DelRio plays a voodoo priestess and she is sexy as hell. The real shocker is a bloody dance number interlaced with a fuck scene between Wade Nichols and Samantha Fox. This was the first production for what is now www.undergroundvideo.com and is still extreme by any measure.

Didn't Armand Weston direct Blue Voodoo? Does it have Gillis in a diaper?

Gillis was the daddy and a young beauty who had never done any adult films played a baby in a crib with a bottle of milk, dressed in only a diaper. It was a hot scene. This was also an early outing for Joey Silvera and Serena. I don't think there is a complete copy of this video available anywhere. Alpha Blue has been selling an illegal bootleg copy with the JFK scene deleted. The video was shot on Quad, a first. This may have actually been the first video feature since it was shot in 1978. If anyone knows where to get a copy of this gem let me know. Armond Weston was one of the unit Directors. The video director was Romeo Davis but the real director was Anthony Diamond who is actually a mainstream producer and director who dabbled in erotica as an artform from time to time. www.undergroundvideo.com has many examples of his work.

Blue Voodoo sounds great. I've avoided getting it for years because I had read it was cut, but never found out what was missing. Thanks for filling in that info.
The Weston error is another fuck-up on IMDB.
I'd really love to see this piece uncut!

Weston's secret weapon at the time was a DP named Joao Fernandez who became one of Hollywood's a-list cinematographers. When he went West so did much of Weston's magic. At the time of the shooting Weston knew nothing about video production and was more of an intern than Director. Although he was given full creative control over the scenes he directed, the technology of the time dictated that the broadcast engineers had the last word on lighting.
Serena and Gillis fell in lust on the set and became an item for some time after. Weston was sleeping with Vanessa Del Rio but she and Anthony Diamond experienced spontaneous combustion that nearly burned the studio down. Joey Silvera and David Morris (both young guns) had a jizz driven rivalry concerning who could ejaculate with the most accuracy.
Adult shoots can be microcosms of sociology and politics and this one is very near the top in terms of its intrinsic drama and its eventual significance to the entire adult industry.

Wait, so Weston DID direct Blue Voodoo?
Joao Fernandez (who, incidentally, was discovered by Damiano and given the nom Harry Flecks; like Arriflex) was a great cinematographer. Not as good as "Larry Revene" but damn near close!
While Fernandez did have much to with Weston's films being as good looking as they were, I wouldn't give him all the credit. Weston was one of the finest directors ever to make X rated films and was both a great story teller, with an eye for cinematic detail and a master at creating fascinating character studies.
A side note: there has long been (false) speculation that Weston was actually director Bill Milling. The thought was that Milling called himself Weston for his "A" list films and used Dexter Eagle on his "B" films. The two also looked somewhat similar but Weston was about 10 years younger.
Although Cecil Howard dispelled that rumor, I've always found it really interesting that the opening hospital scenes in Milling's Blonde Velvet and Weston's Expose Me Lovely are almost shot for shot identical! Both films also star Jennifer Welles.
Oh, the mysteries of cinema that may never be solved.

Weston was given full control over the talent and Romeo Davis was given full control over the technical aspects of each scene. Anthony Diamond met with each of them separately and then together just before each scene. There were clear differences in philosophy between Davis and Weston and Diamond actually made all the significant decisions regarding all aspects of his production. He also wrote the script. Weston was hired because of his experience with adult talent and Davis because of his technical skills and knowledge. Diamond also edited the project. Weston and Romeo were both given script treatments only.
When the editing was over Diamond reviewed the finished scenes with Weston and Davis separately. At first Weston did not want his name associated with the project but he changed his mind after seeing the edited scenes.

I just saw a short on hotmovies , Interracial Forced Entry w/ Sharon Mitchell . She is walking down a seedy block(NY I think) and is pulled into a building stairwell and raped , no ending where its just a fantasy or she knows the guy , just plain rape. I have watched some of the 70's stuff , lots of forced sex but even by these standards this was a pretty rough scene .

i remember a movie called " the analyst" with candida royalle. it wasn't a real rough movie, but the color in the movie made the anal scenes look extremely dirty. it is on dvd- i'll have to see if my memory is still good
