When going through my collection and various databases, I often wonder if the girls take home a copy of their scenes. Or even hotter keep a collection of all of their DVDs? What if their husband found it later in her wardrobe?
I doubt there's a one size fits all, sweeping statement that will give you give you a definitive answer. Some girls have mentioned in BTS footage or interviews that they might be a little annoyed or frustrated when the producer does give them either a copy of the scene or a free temporary membership to the website. However, this isn't true of all actresses.

I remember Madison Ivy told Le Wood in the BTS bonus feature for some Red Light District DVD back when she started that she already had about 500 porn DVDs before she made the step into the business at eighteen. I doubt her collection stopped by that number. She was a very good candidate and went places directly.
It might be a smart business move to archive a copy of all their scenes. It's likely that some of those scenes will become abandoned/out-of-print/unobtainable in the future.
With porn fast moving away from DVDs/Blu-Rays that may not even be possible. I have heard that Kink gives their talent a free lifetime subscription to the company's websites but whether other web-based companies do likewise I don't know. Also, some sites do not allow archiving of scenes from their websites and only allow streaming which also throws a cog into talent archiving their scenes for posterity.
i dont watch my dvds in long time and i dont have many but i like to keep my dvds as souvenir and watch my favorite scenes some times if i want...some dvds you cant find any more because they are little old and its scenes are in internet now...only thing i dont like of dvds is dirty pics in back covers :(
I suppose the back covers are they way they are so people know what they're getting. On the other hand, I remember a cover of yours from a dvd set in Mykonos that was lovely. It got me to buy it!
Man, what a cheek to actually want to charge for them!

^Things like that are routine. It's a business, not fun and games. Playboy charged it's centerfolds a fee for the hair and makeup personnel used on its shoots. I knew a guy who dated a girl who did an Anabolic Gangbang Girl scene. By the time they deducted all the various fees, include a plane ticket to fly her to LA, she more or less was doing the scene for free.

I talked with a model once who shot some pee scenes for a production company. She didn't even know most of the sites they ended up on (one was wetscape.com), and definitely did not have copies. It was more of a show up, pose for the camera, and get some money deal. I don't think most models really have the collector's mindset that many fans do.
It's every guy's dream - girl invites you in "for coffee". You're both getting snuggly on the couch when she casually says, "Oh, did I tell you? I used to make films" and pulls a shoe box out from under the table. Cue the biggest, hardest hard-on you've ever had...
^^ Sadly, I know of too many situations where the guy in no way found it to be a dream come true. In fact, these men were judgmental, hostile, etc. I'm sure almost every porn star could relate a similar story of being on the receiving end of stigma and whorephobia.
^ I would absolutely find it a turn-on to hit it off with a girl and subsequently discover she had done porn - no question. Whether I could date a girl who was thinking of - or actively engaging in - a career in porn I don't know. I suppose that makes me sound a bit of a hypocrite but I do think there's a difference between the two. As a rabid consumer of porn, myself, it'd be a bit rich of me to be in any way judgemental; and I'd like to think I wouldn't be. I'd be absolutely fine if it was in the past but if it was ongoing I don't think I could handle it, emotionally.
