This is something I've wondered for years now, since if most consumers disliked poorly faked orgasms wouldn't pornstars just don't drop the act? I'm especially thinking of pornstars exclaiming "I'm cummmiiinnnggg!!!", when they are obviously doing no such thing and are probably not fooling many adult viewers. Is there a substantial demand driving this?

I'm going to be completely honest and say I kinda don't care. And it's not that I can't tell, either. My willful suspension of disbelief can go pretty far when it comes to performers and their enjoyment of a scene.

I can't say that I like obviously fake orgasms no. They are, at times, pretty funny tho.

Do I like them? No, but they're hardly the only amusing aspect of porn performances. I would say that enjoying porn is as much about one's ability to ignore the negatives as it is about celebrating the positives.

^Orgasms that are quite obviously faked aren't necessarily deal breakers for me when it comes to enjoying a porn scene, but I want to know why pornstars don't give them up if they're not a selling point, unless these "orgasms" are something that consumers generally want to see.

Because there's probably enough people out there that can't tell that they're obviously fake for them to be a selling point. Never underestimate what people will convince themselves of.

I think they do. Who are the loudest performers in porn? Often, it's the biggest stars.

I don't think 'giving them up' describes the situation. Performers act at the behest of directors, after all. As to what directors want, by and large, they are creatures of habit, or perhaps just risk-averse. Either way, they mostly go with what they know, wouldn't you agree? Orgasms have long been a standard plot-device, and so orgasms the customers shall see.
As to what consumers want to see, I would venture to say that very few porn scenes perfectly portray what any consumer wants to see. Some consumers are focused upon specific sex acts, while other consumers are focused upon certain individuals, and I expect most consumers move between those two poles. Thus, porn is more like digging for gems than it is like eating a perfect meal. We'll put up with the dross as long as there are a few diamonds in there.
Viewed from that angle, the fact that you or I might find a particular 'orgasm' to be quite obviously faked isn't a compelling reason to change the standard.

^It seems that you may not have understood me. I'm not talking about the faking of an orgasm in and of itself. Part of the fantasy for many viewers is that the woman in the scene reaches orgasm, and in light of that of course directors might expect pornstars to pretend that they are having an orgasm during the scene. There's a demand there and I'm not questioning any of that. However, that knowledge does not answer the question I posed in this thread's title and in my OP. I'm not asking whether or not a pornstar should fake orgasms during a shoot. For example, I don't know if Juelz Ventura fakes her orgasms or not, but either way she gives the impression that she is experiencing real orgasms in her scenes. What I want to know is if consumers generally prefer a more obviously fake orgasm than one that at least appears to be real. Surely, there is a reason that so many scenes have the prior rather than the latter. Or perhaps you did understand me and are suggesting that what we are dealing with is not so much the preference of consumers as it is that of directors?

For me personally I just don't want it to be so over the top that I get thrown off. Like when the performer is shrieking the entire time likes she's being stabbed to death or something of the sort. This may sound odd, but I actually try to avoid interviews were performers list their favorite scenes (if it's a performer that I especially enjoy watching). Only because if you watch those, you can see very quickly how they act in a scene they're into versus any of their other work. Not that it makes their other work automatically bad or anything, but you start noticing the differences and then it kind of takes me out of it. However some stars are pretty candid about it. I remember reading a Brooklyn Chase interview where she even admitted that most scenes she doesn't orgasm simply because it's a hard thing to do when on a film set.
But to the question itself, I guess it's impossible to really know. My suspicion is that many porn fans enjoy the fantasy of a woman having a rather vocal orgasm, so even if it's a bit over-the-top it's preferable to nothing at all.

I'd imagine the ones that are incredibly obvious (to the point of being obviously fake) are specifically because the director wants them to be incredibly obvious, because an overblown fake orgasm is better than no orgasm at all, and it's not like a director is going to stop the scene and go "No, fake it again, but be for real this time".

I like to see pleasure in a scene and I'm turned on when the woman appears to be turned on. That said, I'm not a fan of obviously fake orgasms, there is way too much OTT acting in porn in general though and the fake cumming is just part of it.

No I actually wish it would go away along with all the other nonsensical noise. If its a real orgasm, great. But the obviously fake "IM CUMMMMMMING!!!!" garbage is one of my biggest annoyances. I prefer my porn with minimal amounts of screaming and wailing.(most of which is fake).

Definitely what I want to see in a scene. I've never understood the fascination with Mason, simply b/c her directorial style seems to encourage the over the top theatrics, the way she zooms in on the face during the "orgasm". It's not Hollywood; show the whole body and don't encourage the eye rolls and screams
One thing I have noticed with the "I'm cumming!!" yells is that they are preceded by the male performer telling the girl to "come. come. come"

I do not like obviously faked orgasms. I do understand that porn is a performance, though, so a good faked orgasm doesn't bother me--it impresses me. Jesie St. James is a good example--I don't doubt she is faking it, but I don't care. Her orgasms are sublime.
The biggest problem to me is the instant yelling and screaming from minute one to the conclusion. There is no build up, so there's really no climax. It's just monotonous and inauthentic.

uuuuuuhhhhh,
if it's done decently well I can make myself be fooled by it, you know?
Teri Weigel used to go nuts on the dick with wild writhing and over the top "I'm exploding" behavior, and at first it was really hot when I'd only seen it a couple times and it could still fool me. And even after you've seen through a performer's act to where you can't believe it anymore and it just looks silly now, that kind of performance still counts as "something." At least they're trying to give you something you can use. Of course a more low-key version probably works better, (try to base your performance on the kind of orgasms a human might have.)
what I'm not able to get anything out of is when they just make the same orgasm noise all scene long on autopilot like they're a background singer keeping time with a song, starting from the moment they're first touched on the thigh. ("oh fuck, oh God! Oh fuck, oh god! Oh fuck, oh God!") The guy could walk out of the room to heat up a poptart in the toaster and she'd still be doing the same yell every 2 seconds, because you can tell her act has no connection to whatever he's doing or not doing. that's just peer pressure orgasming. the director telling them he wants wall to wall noise so it's easier to edit or what not, or maybe he thinks nobody will ever figure out that the scene is boring if there's constant orgasm audio. (We know. We still figure it out, even through the noise.)
stars should challenge themselves to stay quieter for the start of a scene and find other ways to show interest, more like, "I'm into this, as you can see through my attentive body language and sense of urgency" type of stuff (stuff that doesn't have to be immmediately linked to anything orgasmic, just show us that you're intent on getting there). Then, when the scene builds to the point where maybe there could be a legit climax, turn up the volume then so that way the audience can see & hear THE DIFFERENCE from earlier in the scene when you were removing your bra and probably shouldn't have been making the howling noises yet.

I can tell when a real orgasm occurs. This "consumer" waits until my wife crawls into bed next to me and my "porn star" whispers "make me cum".
I know what she wants. My head between her thighs until I feel those muscle contractions and her ejaculate dripping down my chin.
If a performer can replicate that in a scene, I'm a happy dude.

I think there are more people who like it than dislike it so much they won’t buy porn if there’s too much yelling. So it’s profitable to some extent. I like dirty talk, and the possibility to hear it during a scene is bigger if the girl isn’t too quiet in general. The best performers don’t just yell “I’m coming” all the time, they can actually be pretty imaginative when it comes to finding new ways to use foul language.. and that’s awesome to hear. Softer scenes may be better for those who don’t like loud female voices, because if the action is more on the gentle side, there’s probably not much yelling either.

Agree completely, but when they have to 'make some noise' for 40 minutes its almost inevitable.

It's interesting because if they dont make noise, you assume the female is phoning in the scene or isn't enjoying it but then when they make obviously fake noises the entire time and of course the inevitably fake "I'm cumming", that does absolutely nothing for me either. So I dont like obviously fake orgasms but I can still enjoy a scene in spite of it. You have girls like Nicole Aniston, Lexi Luna, Ella Knox, Jada Stevens who I have ALMOST NEVER seen have legit orgasms outside of a handful of times (the few times: Jada when working with Shane Diesel & also Shorty Mac ; Nicole when working with Mike Adriano ; Ella in a recent scene with Prince Yahsua I believe or some BBC) & who are always saying they are cumming when they aren't but I still like watching them because they are all 10/10 in terms of attractiveness so it's not a dealbreaker or turn off but it doesnt do anything for me to hear them yell out some fake orgasm bullshit.
I would much prefer if you're gonna "make some noise" that you do some good ass dirty talk (Nicole Aniston is pretty decent at that especially when building up to a creampie) in between the fake moans. Kelly Divine is a prime example ... she would annoyingly nasally yell out "Oh God" for half the damn scene but also knew how to whip up some legit legendary dirty talk "bounce my phat ass on your fat cock". I wish all pornstars could talk dirty like Sara Jay, she LOVES fat dicks and will DESCRIBE a dick when talking dirty (not just arbitrarily say "big") EG: "Gimme that fat dick" or "I love your long cock" and I LOVE how Sara tells guys to "beat it up" (her pussy) and for them to give her that meat. She truly knows how to tap into her real life enjoyment out of sex and bring it to a scene and she doesnt just make noise for making noise sake.

Lol. Sounds like something that belongs in "shit you dont understand" thread. I think its kinda like the otp screaming and moaning in general. Nobody really "likes" it but nobody cares enough to make a big deal of it either.

I tolerate implants but rarely do I enjoy them. I used to tolerate fake orgasm because it usually happened toward the end of the scene but these days I get turned off the moment the women start to pretend that they are sexually stimulated. Your average porn scene today has the woman doing a Meg Ryan in "When Harry Met Sally" the moment someone touches her breast or goes down on her.
I absolutely love lesbian porn and at least 90% and more of it is unenjoyable because the reaction from the women is so over the top that it's comical instead of stimulating.
