The acceptable terms, as I am aware, are transgender. And there trans men and trans woman. Often the stars will put their preferred pronouns on their Twitter. If not, I go by name and appearance. Feminine name and feminine appearance is a woman and masculine name and masculine appearance is a man.

And most trans people in North America are not "out" until their late teens or 20s because of parents ,churches, etc. so they dont have the chance. I recently dated a girl who didn't start transitioning until almost 30 because of religious and family pressures. She went through hell for her whole life trying to hide she was a woman. We are still so far behind on trans equality in North America.
