Hi Guys I often wondered if the camera men or lighting guys get any action after filing the scene. They must get pretty horny! If yes, would the girls be paid extra for this, or would it be an "un-written" part of their contract, or do they just feel sorry for these guys?
Never say never, but from what I understand a girl who bangs the camera man or lighting director would have a hard time getting work because that ups the risk of AIDS and other nasty VD's. As for the directors, I am sure Roy Karch (the director, not the former porn company distributor that welched on his bills) has had a few, every time he shows up on AVN he has a porn actress or two on his arm. Ron Jeremy is also rumored to get some pussy on the down low at the AVN expo and other porn gatherings. In general, I don't think the directors get laid much, though.
I take it you haven't seen PoronDans posts. He always talks about banging Tanner Mayes. I think directors tend to 'date' pornstars but I don't think they would bang them as often as male pornstars do off camera. Jules Jordan has dated a few off camera I believe.
For every director and cameraop and crew member you can site who either says they bang the talent or actually do, you will find a dozen who don’t. Yes it happens. But for the majority of us it’s (as Rod says) our job. Most crew members do not get regular tests so it would be unwise for any of the talent to give them any action. And you would be surprised how unsexy a shoot is. Sure, members of the crew get horny sometimes, but most of the time we’re working and it’s just another day at the office.
Blow jobs are pretty common for the crew. A certain make-up artist has boned male talent on one occasion. I attended a shoot once and after watching the girl get ploughed started making out with her and had her squirt all over me. Then took her home for the rest of the evening. A lot of porn scenes don't even have "crews" anymore. Now, it's usually just the male and female talent filming in front of one guy who is both the director and cameraman. BangBros is one site that comes to mind which uses that formula in all of their scenes. A lot of other studios do it too. Instead of a whole bunch of people around, there's just one guy on set doing the filming. In cases like that where the "crew" consists of only one guy, I'm not naive enough to believe that he never takes a piece of the action once he turns off the camera, especially if the girl is hot. When there's only one guy shooting/directing, he's SO BUSY he doesn't have time to think about sex if he's doing his job well. Shooting content is hard work. You're tired at the end of the day. It's not until you have a chance to sit down at the end of the day and screen the footage you've shot that you get a chance to focus on the sex and enjoy it.

^Really? I don't see how it can be hard work at all. No offense to directors and cameramen, but it doesn't take a lot of work to hold a camera. I remember one scene I saw where the cameraman/director was doing the usual pre-scene interview with the girl. During the interview, they were discussing the girl's blowjob skills. The cameraman commented that he has had his dick sucked by "thousands" of girls. AFAIK, that cameraman has never worked as an on-screen performer. So how exactly is it that he would have been blown by as many girls as he claims, unless they were all girls that he was shooting for his scenes? I just find the whole idea that these guys are passing up on opportunities to bang the hottest girls in the industry because they're "too tired" to be completely unbelievable. I'm not saying that it happens all the time. But I do believe that it happens quite often.
You need to understand, these 'hottest girls in the industry' expect to get PAID! If you want them to have sex with two guys, one after the other, they expect to get paid twice. If you want them to have sex with two guys at the same time, they expect to get paid more than for one guy. If you think they're nymphos that just can't get enough sex and want to do the camera guy for free after they've just spent an hour getting paid working hard doing a guy, you're crazy. There are always exceptions, but it just doesn't happen the way you think it does.
Have you actually tried to do this, for the amount of time required for a shoot? It's not as easy as you would think. I remember that from my student film days. Yes cameras have gotten lighter since then but it isn't, or shouldn't, just be point and shoot. There is technique and skill involved. At least if you want it to look good.Don't forget in adult films they are selling fantasy. Just because something is stated doesn't make it true. I'd hate to be around when you find out how many performers in the 18 year old titles are in their 20's. :)
Yeah, he was doing it for money. But, yeah also, he was chomping at the bit to do her for free. And though he wasn't a professional porn photographer, it was later revealed to me that his behavior wasn't out-of-line for all those who are.

Sorry Flash, I'm going to have to agree with Realtip on this one. Not going to deny that some skill is required for the big budget production value shoots; but for the standard gonzo release, it's really not that hard to zoom in tight on some guy's balls.
I also agree that it doesn't count. There are plenty of cameramen/directors who double as talent, or have doubled as talent. They're still performers too, but some just don't work as often. And there does appear to be a few crew members, here and there, that also double as occasional talent, or simply can fill in when needed. They don't count either IMO. I talked to a director about this years ago, and he told me most people would be surprised at how unsexy and unsexual most porn shoots are for those in the crew. Maybe gonzo and more modern films have loosened up some sets, but most I see on any behind-the-scenes dvd is harmless flirting.
Having been a porn viewer for about 10 years now, I find it hard to believe that many of the cameramen and directors in the biz would actually have any interest in being with a lady. They usually seem far more interested in male ass and balls.

Completely. No different than all the shows and concerts I've worked in Vegas. I've been asked about getting backstage passes all the time and noone ever believes me when I tell them that backstage is one of the most boring places in the arena.

Most people believe that. I suspect that's because most people have held a camera while shooting their family videos. No offense taken, but it's much more difficult than it seems and much more difficult than the way most people use a camera for their general videos.If believing that makes your porn watching better, then more power to you. After shooting for three or five days in a row, 10 to 12 hours a day it just isn't as sexy as many people believe it is. I used to believe exactly as you do - it was one of the reasons why I considered getting into the business. But that lasted for less than a day. Once on set I learned quickly that it's a gig and not much different than any other operating gig. I'm not saying it never happens. But from experience I can tell you it doesn't happen often. One thing to consider is many of us are in committed relationships as are some of the hottest girls in the industry. It's actually quite rare that the women are willing to fuck the cameraman after shooting a couple of scenes. But that scenario can make a great scene....
I'd like to see crew members "getting some action" on video... because it's a great fantasy. I've only seen a few BTS videos where the crew got some, but it's very rare. Once, I saw BTS of a production assistant getting some dry action: a milf type was grinding her ass into the guy's crotch. It makes for a great fantasy, even if it's exaggerated or totally untrue. Make some BTS videos with some spontaneous action; I'd dig it! Even if it's fake.
Porn cameramen could reduce fatigue and greatly improve the quality of their product if they'd just invest in a feckin' tripod. Enough with the shaky-cam, already!

I am very actively involved in every aspect of my companies productions. I have dated quite a few of models who appear in films, as they are the ones I hang out with and am most attracted to. In fact I never really off have camera sex with anyone other than the girls that are in the adult industry.
Another common rule of practice occasionally dramatized for its POV value, but rarely pursued for its real potential, as an opportunity which cuts to the quick of a viewer's interest, or at least it would mine. I can understand the difficulty of getting it to appear real, but simply the portrayal scores points from a viewing perspective, as it breaks a rule, and imo reaches out to interact with the audience vicariously through the cameraman.
It happens, but not as frequently as some suspect. Furthermore since most girls in the industry are escorts it would be easier to meet them that way rather than go to all the trouble to become a cameraman/director to potentially have something happen.

James Deen is a great "meat puppet." He's one of my favorite male performers. He obviouly loves being a performer, and is very good at it. If you really enjoy doing something, then it will most likely be easy for you to do. But just because it's easier for you doesn't mean that it's an easier task. I think James Deen thinks that performing porn is easier than filming porn because he probably enjoys performing more than he enjoys filming. We all know that's it's much easier to bake a cake than to perform heart surgery. However, many skilled surgeons might tell you that they can do the latter easier than they can do the former. Just because it's easier for them doesn't make it an easier job overall.It doesn't have an effect either way on my porn-watching. I'm just thinking about it from a realistic standpoint. You work in the industry, and I do not. So you obviously can speak with better firsthand knowledge about this than I can. I also believe the points you make. At the same time, I just can't help being skeptical. We know that porn sex is not the same as real sex. I definitely believe that porn sets are not usually that sexy. Going by much of the finished product that we see, I have no trouble believing that to be the case. Porn sex may not always be fun or sexy. But real sex is. Perhaps if more pornographers filmed porn in a way that more closely resembles real sex, than their job might not be as hard. But I digress. I'm not talking about the job of being a porn director, which I' sure does require a good amount of skill for those who do it well. I'm talking about how far-fetched it is to think that porn directors, many of whom appear to be healthy men with normal sexual appetites, never try to get any from the hot girls who work for them. I'm sorry, but I just have trouble believing that to be the case. Again, maybe I'm just skeptical. But we are talking about a situation where a young healthy man spends all day filming naked young sexy women. True, his job, in itself, may not be sexy. But that has nothing to do with the fact that he's still going to get horny every once in a while, like every other normal man. Are we really expected to believe that these men, when they become horny, are never going to try to approach any of the naked sexy women who are surrounding them all day long? The claim that this never or rarely happens just sounds outlandish to me. However, if it is true that it never happens, then there's really something about the rarity of it that might help to explain why so much of the porn we see is indeed unsexy. Maybe it's the whole attitude of it being just another job or gig that contributes to it not being any fun to either shoot or view.
Several points I just want to touch upon and honestly they contradict each other. The biggest point is that the women in this industry are hit on all the time and I literally mean all the time. They are hit on while on set. They are hit on while off set. They are hit on buying milk at the grocery store and that doesn't even take into account if they have any sort of mass market recognition. I remember clothes shopping with Naomi and it was like wolves were on the prowl while just out in public with her and at that time she basically unknown. It was purely just from how she looked. When I say this job is back breaking work... I mean it. After shooting all day my body is beat. My sciatic nerve is so messed up in my back that when I have a really heavy production cycle I have to see a professional to keep my body going. Anyone who has this delusion that this is simply showing up and clicking some buttons and then going home couldn't be further form the truth. It is like a god damn sport. I have to stretch out before shooting. It is very physically demanding. However the more realistic thing that happens is that you "date" the people you work with. That happens outside of this industry and it happens inside this industry. This whole idea that it happens on set, while your working though just isn't realistic. Time is money. Let alone the fact that it's just way unprofessional.
I am not a cameraman, but I will second that sciatic nerve pain (I can't say for sure it is that particular nerve, but it is definitely from the spine). I personally have been taking (doctor prescribed) methadone in order to keep the pain down to where I can get out of bed in the morning, make it to the bathroom without making a mess and have some semblance of a life. If I don't get my pain meds down my throat on time, it hurts more than you can imagine from mid-back to toe and involves both legs! I hope in your case something can take care of your pain. If it were possible in my case, I think I would seriously even consider surgery if the doctors could honestly say that it had a good chance of succeeding. I can guarantee when my back is hurting worse than you can imagine that the last thing on my mind is sex, even if it involved Brees Kelly or Angel Vain.

Lots of people fuck the folks they work with, so it is likely that some camera guys seek out and get action with some of their on-camera counterparts.
As far as directors, they are in positions of power as far as who gets hired/gets money and who doesn't. People with power tend to do terrible things. They are absolutely getting action, especially from the least-established women who are more willing to accept promises, be sold dreams, or be doubtful about getting more work.
Feel free to direct me to the relevant post if this has been asked before but I'm looking to compile a list of scenes where camera/crew are roped in to the actual scene (usually at the end to contribute extra facials etc). I understand that in the vast majority of cases this is probably 'scripted' but I don't care, it's still hot. Thanks!
