But that doesn't mean I don't have my favorites. If I'm undecided about a video, but the cast list has a star I like (such as my current faves Inari Vachs or Stephanie Swift), that will seal the deal. But it also works the other way: if there's one or two people I can't stand, I'll generally pass on the video rather than have 20-50% of material I have to fast forward through. Finally, I'll buy and rent videos when all else fails by how good the performers look on the box covers and backs. Yes, I know that's pretty risky, but since there's more truth in box advertising compared to the late 80's and early 90's, it's not that bad. Besides, I figure if they can't make the girls look good in the pretty girl photo shoots, then there's little chance that there will be much improvement in the video itself. Soooo, to wrap up this long answer to a simple question, by using the above criteria, I've gotten really good at cutting through 90% of all the crappy videos and only buying and renting stuff that has a decent chance of being good. To give you an idea, I can go into my local adult store and flip through a couple thousand box covers in under an hour to come away with five rental choices for the weekend. Compared to that, picking good DVDs (or recognizing that there aren't too many) is pretty easy. Rarely will I buy based upon the director or male star (I get a laugh out of Peter North hosing down his costars). |
