KICKER - As an unabashed "ass" man, I followed Austin O'Riley's porn career pretty closely. From all indications, she has left porn and gone on to other things.
Her smut career was kinda strange in that it was by most measures successful, and she had a broad appeal that cut across a variety of porn demographics and fetishes, but she never seemed to cross that threshold to put her at the top rung of "A" list porn girls. She was certainly beautiful enough, and she did all of the required acts and porn girl behaviors that most raincoaters want, but there was always that undefinable something , missing with her. She got her fair share of boxcovers, and even headlined a few flicks, but the drive to be "the best" at this, (or even really good at it), didn't seem to be in her.
I think that part of it was the personality characteristic that you mentioned. I have heard more than one porn producer\director speak of her lack of real strong commitment to the task, and have also heard that she had a tendency to flake and could be difficult to work with. I wouldn't repeat this if I hadn't seen it in print from more than one porn insider. I don't know how she was to work with for other porn actors and actresses, which oftentimes goes a long way in determining how you are perceived, and how well you do in the industry.
As a fan, I watched a lot of her scenes, and I was also often underwhelmed by what looked like less than enthusiastic efforts from her. And there were times when it did appear that she was just mailing it in.
She just seemed like a beautiful girl, who was in it to make some easy money, until she could get to wherever she was going. Or at least until she could go to school or do something else.
I may be wrong, and others may have their own thoughts.
