I realize these days I don't care about new porn. Don't buy anything. Don't have any subscriptions to anything.

I still have my favorite scenes and performers. But they are mostly from 10 to 20 years ago. some even from 30 years ago.

The industry would consider me the worst kind of consumer.

Actually not even a consumer at this point. Just someone who watches old stuff.

Can anyone relate? maybe I am like this forum. Obsolete

There are still a handful of sites as well as OF and MV channels that fully satisfy my sexual passions, fetishes, fantasies and niches. Besides, there are still several young & new talents with extreme levels of nastiness, filthiness & slutiness to cherish for years to come. Thus, that's unlikely.

Most every industry that relies upon public consumption, especially media and technology, systematically integrate obsolescence into their product streams. For media, it goes under the disguise of "fashion." Something falls out of fashion, and is declared obsolete for that artificial reason alone. "Oh, those are old headphones. They're the wrong color." Smartphones come in multiple colors one year, then go back to all-metallic. Then 18 months later come back in multi-colors. Fashion.

The problem with trying to make porn work this way is that porn relies on its performers being beautiful. You look at them 20 years later, and they're still beautiful. If you're a producer, what can you do? You can try to declare big butts obsolete, or pierced navels, or painted toenails. Just show people who mostly look differently, and try to get consumers to recognize the difference and go along with the message. It doesn't work. Great beauty doesn't age. A girl who was fabulous 20 years ago (one example I'd toss out there is Avy Scott) still looks fabulous now in 20-year-old, lower-resolution videos.

You can start producing 4K videos, 8K, 16K, and every power-of-2 thereafter. Porn may have been the technological trendsetter at one point. But at the point where the tech became good enough to present beautiful people having sex in their full glory, the need for tech advancement disappeared. You can't create some artificial technological barrier, break through it, and claim you're setting a trend.

So yeah, ORS Ian, the industry would declare you the worst kind of consumer, if it had time or energy left to do so. Right now, it's competing against distribution sources that cut out the middleman (or middle-person) entirely, plugging the viewer directly into a channel with beautiful performers (and others, granted). It's in a trap of its own making, really: It's created media whose value is defined by something that is timeless. As a result, it has created a glut of existing content, most of which has nothing wrong with it. On the other side, there's a tsunami of new content from a direct and in-your-face source, probably most of which is so-so or lesser quality, but some of which is astonishingly good -- and there's enough of that good stuff to constitute a viable supply.

The message here being, you're not the problem.

I can't even consider the OP a current porn consumer because by his own admission he neither buys new porn or joins active porn sites. If anything he's a nostalgic porn fans who if he is very lucky managed to save over the years what he loved and can watch it at his leisure wishing that someone today would copy some of the past great porn producers work. In many ways I can't argue with his point of view because I find very little of what is made today to have as much appeal as what was made in past decades and sadly doubt that anyone today would be able to copy past producers work even if they had the opportunity.

Where the OP and I differ is that I still look and find the odd pearl in modern porn but they are getting to be rarer each year and I can see a time when I won't want to look for those pearls and simply do like the OP and enjoy all the stuff that I saved over the years.

Most of my faves have retired, and I really haven't cultivated too many new ones.

So I would I say I'm an infrequent consumer of current product.

Does consuming porn mean it's new product or paid product? The way I see it if you are watching it you are consuming it even if it's 30 years old

I imagine I'll watch my favourites forever and there are bound to be more to discover

I feel like my consumption of new porn has really trailed off, probably partly due to age, and also due to stagnation in the industry.

When I was in my early 20s it seemed like I had one or two dozen active pornstars that were putting out new scenes very regularly and I was always hopping around with subscriptions to the major studios trying to download all the new scenes that were being produced.

Now I'm in my 30s and nearly all of those stars from the 2000s and 2010s have completely retired from the industry or only do things like OF or similar stuff, which is very very rarely worth getting into if you are only interested in well produced high definition videos, and don't really care much for the lower quality, amateur style, self recorded videos or the "interaction" of potentially chatting with and directly interacting with the performers (even this is often fake and sourced to a third party)

I still browse some of the new scenes from major studios but I have very few current stars that interest me and most of the scenes these days are sort of same old, same old. I understand that after enough scenes, there are only so many outfits, angles, phrases, scenarios, etc. that work before they need to be recycled.

I've always been a collector of scenes and have all my stuff organized by performers and have many scenes that I legally purchased and downloaded. These will probably always work for me, but I'm less and less of a consumer of new stuff as the years go on.

I agree with many of the previous comments. I have no connections to today's "here today gone tomorrow" generation of girls. At the same time, I can no longer stand the same handful of guys who are in every scene and often don't even belong in front of the camera.

I bought two scenes in 2023....and regretted it. But since I have no interest in communicating with porn girls or similar, self-marketing platforms are also not an option for me. In this respect, porn is no longer a form of entertainment that I will follow in the foreseeable future.

Nope, actually years ago I was ashamed of it all so I trashed/burned most of it, then the Jenna Haze fiasco (to cut it real short: she retired because basically all of her stuff was being given away just like most stars. hence why this site is Nazis about free sites since it's mostly theft) had me assuming all the theft and piracy (same thing I know I just wanted 2 insults) was going to destroy the industry since no one is getting paid THEN onlyfans had me think the same but after seeing how fast the careers on that site die out, how they get taxed to high hell, and how all the cry baby men, misogynistic women, and hypocrite trans that run American society, and the general astetic of the site I lost all faith in it. Then 1 day I realized society finds murder and torture perfectly acceptable from a shot in the head to genocide to murdering children (still fucked up from the first scene in M3gan) it lets people post photos of them doing drugs and showing how tough they are with guns (😂) and people eat it up and become notorious for it but god forbid they female body, passion, or the most basic human urge next to eating. So Chapter 4 a lot of other shit happened and now I openly buy and collect it for a statement as a main reason. BUT if society wins and the only people left to participate are unhealthy fat and hairy crotch's then I may but for now my porn will outweigh my horror.

As far as new celebs go I run to DVD first see who I think is hot and research it from there since 1 scene really never makes up the celeb, I didn't think much of Adriana Chechik at first till I saw her in Swallowed now she's top 3 for new generation, same with Kenzie Reeves and those stupid fuckin anime faces she makes like Belle Daphne but she's in top 5 because not only is she crazy hot, cray horny but in between those faces are real faces and BUDDY
Think the industry just has up to any walls thanks to society and scumbag thieves and "gifters" (people that justify stealing and distributing for free as a nice gesture) the easiest fix would be to have industry scouts go on OF or similar to educate and recruit then BAM

Anyway I'm done with my novel long live porn

(I just felt like I needed 1 more statement in parentheses, thank you for reading ❤️)

While I cannot think of the last time I actually paid for anything related to porn, I have three adult sons who I'm sure are consumers and two grandsons who will, if form follows, will eventually fit the bill.

No, my purchasing of newer titles has slowed down as I prefer features, and fewer and fewer are being made each year. However, companies like Vinegar Syndrome are keeping me busy with their UHD Blu-ray and Blu-ray releases of classic titles.

As long as it's legal, and my credit card is accepted, I'll be a paying consumer.
I'm really concerned about KOSA and other "age verivication" bills. That are more about censorship, surveillance and the restriction of adult content than actually keeping kids safe online.

I just discovered them a few weeks ago at this shop in Bridgeport CT called "The Archive" I'm 90% sure they said they were affiliated if not the founders I was fanboying so hard I couldn't pay much attention and when they said they were associated with Troma I got dizzy, it was embarrassing but hopefully a compliment haha if you plan on visiting (which I HIGHLY recommend) and aren't familiar with the area be weary, while the city is beautiful it's very dangerous because this state is run by greedy morons

Yes, The Archive is Vinegar Syndrome's physical store. I am too far down the coast to visit though.

Most likely not unless the quality keeps fading. I already started checking out JAV because I got too bored by the stuff from the West.

I'll never stop! I've been hooked on it since finding my first mag at the cliche construction site. Ever since, porn has been a big part of my life. I still have a social life, hobbies, and take care of my responsibilities. But porn will be a part of me. I just enjoy it so much.

I'm in my 60s, and my first experience with hardcore porn was sneaking into an adult movie theater as a 16 or 17 year old in Atlanta in the 70s to watch a movie staring Desiree Cousteau. So I'm in my sixth decade as a porn consumer. So no, I'm a lifer.

Mid 40's here. Been at it since finding my first mag. Ever since, it's been porn!!! Once I turned 18, I'd spend so much time in video stores looking for movies to rent, peep shows, viewing booths.. close to three decades of this. I'm a lifer too.
