Although I agree with you. The reality is that most bosses are not assholes or not all the time and 500$ a week although significantly lower than what they could make in porn is still probably enough money to live on. Not to mention that those normal jobs often include some kind of health insurance (at least I hope they do) and that is a precious thing. You hear more about the ones who have drug problems because it makes for a more interesting story as compared to the ones who just become homemakers/housewives. I'd have to guess that the majority of ex-pornstars end up doing just fine. It's mretty easy for a pornstar to disappear if they want to. They just stop using their pornstar name and stop wearing the pornstar make-up and outfits and just blend in with everyone else. Unless they go to porn conventions or get on some sort of social media to tell everyone what they're up to, no one will know where they are. It might be hard to adjust to not making money pornstar at first but I'm sure most of them manage after awhile. It seems that one of the main reasons women quit porn is because they found a guy the like and want to be with so I tend think most of them just end up with their guy living a somewhat normal life. At the end of the day most pornstars are goodlooking women and I'd bet finding a guy who will take care of them isn't much of a problem if the girl has her head on straight and isn't only attracted to broken people.
So true. No prodCo is going to make a movie about the ex-porn actress who leaves the business, marries, has a couple of kids and works a regular job. And that's what happens to a lot of them. So many make movies for a few years and then leave the biz to lead an average, happy, productive life. Not something movies are made about. Or anything the news is interested in.

I don't know is it really easy for them to blend in in the internet age? There are a lot of stories about pornstars who try and get teaching jobs or jobs else where and end up getting outed somehow as an ex-pornstar. I mean especially if a porn star has done as many movies as a Cheyenne Silver or a Dyanna Lauren I don't think there's anyway they could just blend in without be recognized at some point.
I guess some years doing porn is enough excitement for a lifetime for most women. Regarding Linda Lovelace and others coming out dissing porn... that's definitely phony and a way to extend a career. 'I dug porn and now I hate it and now I love God! See! I'm a good person now!'... total bullshit...

I don't believe the whole "I Love God" now argument I think it's more like nobody else takes me seriously so I turned to religion. You know like when politicians cheat or have affairs and suddenly become religious.
^Not a good example because a politician saying that he has found God is trying to save whatever he can of his political career while the ex-porn performer is not. If finding God is a way for a woman who is not happy doing porn to leave and do something else than it's all good. ^&^^I guess if they were to find a cure for cancer, discover a new species of animal or be the first porn performer in space then that might be considered something exceptional. Of course since 99.999999% of the population will never do that then I guess none of us will ever do anything exceptional either. I think one of the most exceptional thing an ex-porn performer can hope for is that there past porn life never comes back to haunt them in their new life once they leave the industry.
Coco Brown But yeah, "exceptional" is highly subjective. The first person I thought of was Annie Sprinkle. She is exceptional, in my opinion, and still works with sex media (post-porn). I don't see why "getting out" is the goal if you are an exceptional artist. Stormy Daniels is another one.
I would think a girl would be much more likely to be exposed as stripper than a pornstar at a workplace. The odds are more likely that someone from would recognize a girl from a strip club if it's a smaller town or if the guys at a work go to strip clubs. With a porn girl you have to remember that the vast majority of porn watchers aren't like the ones on this site that know 100s of pornstars by sight. That plus many girls don't look like their pornstar persona when they aren't in character. The internet does make it easier to find a pornstar or stumble across one but you have to be looking in the first place.
I think some pornstars are like anyone else who turns to God when they feel desperate or have messed up...because many people who are religious tend to shift the responsibilities of their actions from themselves to a so-called evil. "It wasn't your fault..it was the devil...", "You couldn't help it... it was the evil porn business...". It also takes the pressure off the person to change and puts in all on God. "Just pray really hard and God will fix it....". It's just an easy out and you can surround yourself with people who will tell you what you want to hear and be on your side.
^ also to "find God" allow those girls to pass well over their past , that way everybody knows they were pornstars but they were victims , people tend to support victims , also whereas in real life anybody who knows a pornstar would try to fuck her because either they're not able to separate the porn persona from the real one and thins she would fuck everyone asking , or they feel like idiots if they don't give a try , after all a pornstar is uninhibited toward sex , or so they think. to find God or to spit on porn might be an easy way to regain some level of social acceptance and by outing their past to save them from possible blackmails Edited by - LCF on 8/18/2013 10:07:32 AM
^Victim is probably not be the best word to use but I can't think of another one so I'll use it in my argument. Aren't many of them victims of one kind or other? I do not think that the vast majority of people choose porn as a way of earning a living. Especially if they have safer means of making decent money. For some it may be a question of education or lack thereof, others it may be a question of family dynamics and I'm sure there are many more reasons but what it boils down to is that these people didn't so much choose porn as they fell into it.

I agree that some girls are "victims" (for lack of a better word) in a sense because of their upbringing, or situations they've gotten themselves into but it's wrong to blame porn for their problems. In many cases doing porn actually gives them a way to help fix their problem(s) because it gives them money to take care of themselves or better their lives or afford an education. A lot of the girls don't use porn for it's potential long term "fixes" though and just spend the money unwisely and party.I think most girls choose porn because it actually is a way of earning a living but it's earning a living of a lot of money fairly quickly and fairly easily. It always comes back to money. Whether a girl comes from a messed up background or has her head on straight the appeal of porn will almost always be earning a lot of money easily and quickly. Some girls get off on the fame or the sexual adventure but the money will usually be number one. I think the days of "falling" into porn is gone because most people are generally aware of how people end up in porn and the porn biz doesn't have to be so sneaky about it these days because so many girls actually want to get into porn.
I think there are girls who find God but accept their porn past or at least don't try to play victims and place all the blame on porn as being a horrible/evil thing. If a woman says she regrets doing porn I can understand her view. But I hate it when they claim porn was some horrible thing they were trapped into doing and the porn industry is evil and exploitive and yet they did it for years. That's playing the role of a victim and accepting none of the blame for yourself. If a person doesn't like doing porn they can simply walk away.
^ I agree , I meant that as an easy way to rebuilt a reputation, of course not all of them do that, some really watch toward God for help, especially when they reach the bottom adding some other problem such as an addiction or an exploitative BF/pimp or both
