You really don't have to miss it, there's plenty of it available if you really want it. It's not like it all went away and can't see it again or see stuff from back then that you never seen.
The thing I miss about the 80s are particular actresses that I liked to see. Loni Sanders. Blondie Bee. Tami Monroe. Ginger Lynn. Raven. I don't miss the whole porn scene in the 80s, though. Overall, there are a lot more women doing it now than in the 80s, and the best looking women now are better than the best looking women then, IMHO - especially their bodies. The quality of the videos are much better now. Certain sex acts that I like, such as rimming and pussy to mouth were less common back in the 80s but are fairly common now. One thing I don't like as much today is that much of the porn produced today has an undercurrent of misogyny. Making a woman gag on a dick until she pukes. Slapping a woman's tits hard. Spitting in a woman's face. These kinds of things weren't very frequent back in the 80s. But then again, there wasn't nearly as much variety in porn back then.

Up until about 1984/5, yeah. I can tolerate up until about 1987 but that's pushing it. I can't say I "miss" it because I wasn't watching it then, but I watch a lot of it now and there are some incredible films from the early/mid 80s.

Up until about 1988 there was innovation, many natural beauties, diversity among pornstars, and few boob jobs. The only reason I have not bought more 1980s porn on DVD is due to picture quality.
I tend to agree, however it is my impression, from what I have seen (re-releases on DVD), that some of the big stars of the 80's like Jamie Gillis and John Leslie were true misogynists and had no problem with 'acting' in those roles. Possibly just the opposite (toning it down). For me, the indication is in the facial expressions. A lesson that was reinforced by watching the TV hit "Lie To Me."
I miss 80s porn... absolutely. I actually still have a lot of it on VHS (which I have since converted to DVDs). The old Ginger Lynn titles, the old Amber Lynn titles -- great stuff!
^I see it very differently. The 2 performers you just named were some of my favorite and in large part because they could actually act. That may be one of the biggest differences between porn in the 80's and today. Many of the performers had acting ability and the people making these movies had directing abilities. For one thing many of the movies were filmed on celluloid so you wouldn't film a 40 minute sex scene and you couldn't afford for the performer to screw up their lines too often. Since it's all digital today so you can do whatever you like.

Sorry but my comment was for rebecca's post. I agree with you that there are some excellent actresses today. It's just very rare to see them use their acting talent because there is no script and the guy behind the camera couldn't direct a kindergarden school play.

There was a variety back then. Over a the last decade i believe porn took a turn for the worse in some areas. Like the stuff u mentioned, slapping tits etc. two dicks in a asshole and one in the vagina is way too much for me. Well from what I have seen of 80s porn the thing I wish they still did now was have variety with the money shots. In the last 10 or 15 years it seems the vast majority of scenes end with facial. A lot of times it is just the guy standing over the girl and jerking off in her face... feels very artificial. I notice in the 80s porn, there was more variety. I would imagine that could be true but if the 80s were really that great you'd do just fine with mostly any movie from that period and you have a decade worth of movies you've seen and haven't seen to work with. So why be so choosy? Unless, this is all just another excuse to complain about today's porn and 80s porn is just like porn of every era where there's some good and some bad and people choose to only remember the gomd stuff of the past and the bad stuff of toady.
That's probably because it wasn't as great as some people make it out to be. Some people are remembering specific girls and certain movies. There was plenty of bad 80s porn. The stuff some people are mentioning here that they like about 80s porn and don't like about today's isn't true of all today's stuff. All of today's porn doesn't have slapping, choking, spitting, etc.. Some complain about the lack of acting but there's still plenty acting going on in features and even some gonzo stuff and of course the parody stuff. Some complain about boob jobs but there were girls with boob jobs back then and girls without boob jobs now. The variety of porn out there today is far greater than what it was in the 80s. If a person truly doesn't want to see slapping, choking and such there's porn being made today that doesn't do that. If a person wants see acting there's plenty of that. If a person wants to see natural girls there's porn out there with that. The bulk of the popular 80s stuff was faetures from VIVID and WICKED. Both companies are still arounf basically doing the same type of movies today.

1-Actually Wicked isn't an 80's studio. Vivid did start in the 80's but the bulk of their content is 90's to today. Most of the 80's studios are no more. Their libraries were bought by other studios and now appear under their banner or have simply disapeared from circulation. 2-I don't think anyone pretended that all of the 80's porn was great. In fact their were some truly horrible movies made in those days. 3-There were boob jobs in the 80's just like their were boob jobs in the 70's. The biggest difference is that the majority of performers did not have one or ever got one during their career. 4-The variety of porn today is greater but that's because of the number of porn made today does not compare. How many new movies get released each month compared to those made in the 80's. You can film a movie today and one month later it's already being released. Not even close to being true. Were you even watching porn in the 80s? Were you an adult who was paying for porn in the 80s? Vivid was founded in 1985 and even during the remainder of the 80s, a small fraction of the popular stuff came from any one company, especially not Vivid. Wicked Pictures was founded in 1993. You seem to be clueless and hateful of 80s porn, which is fine. There was plenty of bad 80s porn, plenty of great 80s porn, aspects of porn not present in today's porn that many of us treasureand and some apects of porn present in today's porn but done much better in the 80s.
Hell no. I grew up watching 80s porn, and I wish I could erase the remaining memories of it. Compared to now, people just looked weird in the 80s, and I hate the giant bushes. If anything, I miss the 90s porn. I think that was the BEST era in porn. Nowadays it's all about either teens or milfs. But in the 90s, you had beautiful women in their primes i.e. in their mid 20s. I'm not into teen porn or older milfs. The best women imo are in their early to late 20s, particularly mid 20s.

I agree, Loni Sanders was super hot. While I don't miss 80's porn as the majority of it was crap compared to today's fare, what I do miss is the overall attitude of the girls. Porn back then still had the air of seediness and was an underground type of business. I stand corrected. But I'm not "hateful" of 80s porn. I've seen some of it and don't think it was as great as some people seem to make it out to be vs what's going on today. As you point out some aspects are better now. And some things people are claiming to miss still exist in some porn today.
Lame thing is, even most of these women are made out to be teens or even milf(if they look older in their late 20s) sometimes and made to look that way in those gimmick movies. Too many of the Wicked and Vivid features remind me too much of some of the notoriously bad stuff from the 80s and 90s. I hope Kaylani Lei is happy, becuase her Wicked contract is not doing much good for me.

Most of the 80s stuff was absolute garbage. The hairdos in that decade were awful. You also had little variety, it was the same stars in title after title. The guys back then were annoying to say the least and many had no business in the porn industry. There were exceptions, Blondie, Tami Monroe and Loni Sanders were always fun to watch. They really seemed into the sex. In those days I used to rent VHS tapes at video stores. I recall Ginger Lynn in what seemed like half of all box covers in the adult section. And don't ask me why but almost everytime I would rent a sex title I would get stares from people who were renting non sex tapes as if I was some pervert. I don't miss those video stores, much easier these days to rent on-line. VHS sucked too, constant rewinding and fast forwarding to get to the desired scenes.
