^I believe it only if the tape doesn't get released. If the lawsuit was valid then the tape would remain a rumour. I look at these lawsuits as another kind of marketing and marketing is usually 90% Bullshit and 10% truth. If the celebrity is big enough then that means larger exposition in mainstream media which in turn will mean bigger sales of the DVD.

How many times have there even *been* lawsuits (somebody actually going so far as to pay a filing fee and file a complaint), as differentiated from stupid press releases that make pretend-threats that somebody is going to sue somebody?
I hate to say it but I was about to type the same thing. What you're now saying they were made up? Even though we said that to you with every press release that came out and you kept telling us "No its real"? I mean of course that was your job to do but come on, give us some credit. I think it was more of a bad move on your part to keep trying to sell the thing that way when we all knew better.
I can't speak for woody but nowhere does he claim that he believed the press releases. He's only asking the question is if we believe it. I think that we all agree that none of us ebelieve it. I also don't believe rumours about celebrity shopping sex tapes until there is an actual release date. I do believe that celebrities film themselves having sex because that's a pretty narcassistic thing to do and many celebrities suffer from that particular affliction. The road by which the film magically appears on the desk of a sex tape broker is where I'm very curious.
Nobody's questioning whether he believed them. I was just pointing out that, as a representative of Vivid, he was the person who was posting (and then defending the validity of) the press releases. And... to answer the original question, no I never believed any of the make believe celebrity lawsuits. Given Vivid's long-term history, I don't know why anyone would believe anything that they said. At the same time, I've never appreciated being treated like an asshole who would believe the lies.

I supposed I posted a few. The word "former" here is the buzz word. I did what I was told to do. I didn't make up the lawsuits or the press releases. I asked the question because in the future I may have some celebrity titles that I will be selling. I wanted to hear from the fans what they thought of how they are promoted in the past. I also never said those lawsuits were bogus. I asked if they are believable. I do believe the Ashton Kucher lawsuit is real. Although he is not in this movie being promoted. I also feel the word celebrity is used very loosely. If we come out with a celebrity title I think the person really does need to be a celebrity, just sayin'.

I think if you go back, you will see I never defended the validity of anything. I posted the release. I, again, was told, and nothing to the contrary, that each and every one was real. I am not saying here anything different. I was never told this is all bullshit. I did my job, which was to sell the dvd. When the press releases came out, I posted them as they were. Do I know what everyone else does, yes I do. To release a movie, you must have the parties sign off on it. Except in one case in which I know of, that was Pam and Tommy. It was allowed to be released because of it's exposure on the internet.
In the end it doesn't really matter if the lawsuits are real or not. The function of them is only to get press that makes people aware of the sex tape being out there. I really couldn't care less if Kim Kardashian, Pam Anderson, or Amy Fisher wanted their tapes made public or if the lawsuit was real or if they got paid for them. If I found out Kim got paid 2 million or 2 dollars for her tape doesn't affect my wanting to see her tape or how much I enjoy or don't enjoy seeing it. Without the hoopla of the supposed lawsuits most people would have no idea the tapes exist. So I totlly understand why the company putting them out will fake a lawsuit if a real one doesn't exist. It's part of the marketing game. I accept it as part of marketing and don't really care if it's real or not.

Did I ever believe the celebrity lawsuits? The only ones I actually believed were the ones that weren't accompanied by a press release; IE Colin Farrell and/or Heidi Pratt. I don't fault Vivid at all in the grand scheme of things. I do fault the so called celebrities for their BS excuse of, "it was a private moment and somehow the tape got stolen when we left it in the VCR and the workmen outside used the bathroom" instead of "I'm capitalizing on my popularity at the moment" Granted I understand that they have to claim it's stolen to generate sympathy and to maintain their mainstream popularity, but then again I do know that a release is required for a commercial release. By filing a lawsuit, its a stolen sex tape, whereas if its sold by the celebrity it's porn. Either way, the releasing company cleans up.
I assume a lawsuit publicity angle means the video is too boring and poorly shot to sell as porn. I might watch celebrity porn if the celebrities work with the studios that shoot great sex and make attractive covers.

I agree with you. It would be refreshing to see them just say I shoot this video, hope you like it. I am really a whore in my personal life and I wanted to share it with you. That is how I will distribute my first Celebrity title.
Good point. HOw could these be "illegimately" released without going through the legal paperwork to make them legit to sell. Easy money for celebs either on their way to being hasbeens or trying to make their name.

It will never happen. She also did not shoot a fetish video, it was a promo joke for a radio show. It was to air on regular TV, but never saw the light of day. Anything you read about Vivid offering Octomom, is purely a publicity stunt for press. Nothing wrong with that. It is just getting old. I'd pay her a million dollars not to make a porno, really don't want to see that.

The radio stations. TMZ just bought it yesterday, it will be up there for free. It is not saleable. It will garner them traffic. Vivid was going to buy it, and give it back to her, strictly for publicity. But they went in with a low ball price, and TMZ outbid in a matter of minutes. I suppose there is nothing wrong with trying to get more exposure in the press off someone elses horrible situation, that is if you are morally bankrupt. ^When you mentioned publicity stunt I thought you were referring to the Vivid offer of a million to Octomom. Didn't realize there was even another offer on the table from Vivid to Octo. Innuresting. Edited by - savoy on 1/23/2011 11:24:48 PM

Disclaimer: I am only reporting public knowledge and in no way am judging, whether good or bad, what Vivid does. Vivid made an offer to Octo to appear in a video, she declined. Vivid offered to by Octos house in an "effort to open a line of communication with her", so said Steve Hirsch. The house is owned by a third party which Hirsch meet with. Vivid offered to pay her monthly rent for 1 month to get her an extension. All of this has been reported by TMZ. The question is, would you even want to see Octo in a porn video? Is all this a publicity stunt to keep Vivids name on TMZ knowing she will never do any porn video?

Even as much as I go for Middle Eastern snatch extraction, this is beyond the pale. My guess is her vaj looks like an open purse.

Just when you think you heard it all. Now the Tila Tequila tape is coming out, but a clip was leaked to edit. Vivid sends cease and desist. I wonder who leaked it to edit? Hummmm? Marketing at it's almost best. [mod edit: name of tube site removed. We don't need to advertise for them. Thx.] Edited by - killbillvol69 on 2/2/2011 1:05:18 PM
Well they've already started with the "Tila says the tape was just supposed to be an intimate night with her and her friends and she's shocked someone stole it and put it on the market." LOL while those of us here are going "For pete's sake one of the girls she's with in the film is Kristina Rose! Private my hiney!" Mind you, Kristina being part of it is about half the reason I'll purchase this thing when it gets released.
