Generally, I use the terms interchangeably. In my personal view, a cougar or MILF should be a woman who is (or could reasonably be believed to be) in her mid 30s to early 50s, with obvious enhancements (tits definitely, and preferably ass as well; lips I can take or leave, depending upon how well they're done). The archetype to me is Diamond Foxxx, particularly back when she was a blonde:
or Holly Halston:
Strictly speaking, I would consider any scene featuring such a female performer to be a legitimate MILF/cougar scene, regardless of any other factor, including the male performer, but I must admit that I do find the appeal greatly enhanced when the female performer is obviously significantly older. As for POV, I hate, hate, hate any scene shot in POV, regardless of storyline or genre, so I am not the one to ask...

Milf would have to be one of most misused terms in the porn industry. Milf literally means mum or mother I'd like to fuck. If the performer in question hasn't got kids then she's not a milf.
I think the older/younger dynamic is baked right into the meaning of "cougar." Definitions I found on the 'net, including at Wikipedia all confirm that the word denotes an older woman who pursues younger men.
I agree that MILF, especially in porn, is used too widely. As studrams writes, it does mean a woman who is a mother, but it seems in porn that the term can be used to mean a model in her mid- to late-20s who has never been pregnant. Oh well, I long ago learned to not hold porn to a high standard of linguistic clarity.
But the MILF term only seems to denote the woman and has no extension to her male partner. It seems to me that a MILF could be with a 20-year-old or a 70-year-old. The term is all about her and not about the relationship.
I tend to split MILF and Yummy Mummy even though the latter term isn't used in porn much. But in real life, I consider around 30 to 35 to be the dividing line. Above that, she's a MILF, below that, she's a Yummy Mummy. Admittedly, the way porn plays fast and loose with these terms means that even a model who has never had a baby could be labelled as a Yummy Mummy.
All this confusion over labels is why I stick to 18-25 models mostly.
^^ Yeah, but...how would you know whether the performer has kids? In MILF scenes, generally the character the performer is portraying will be mentioned to have kids in the setup, which I think is enough.

^ Pregnancy and motherhood without at least a stretch mark or two is very much the exception rather than the rule. Featuring Ellie Murphy, Molly Sims and Annie King on Hotmilfsfuck is a good example of the absurd overuse of the term.
mother I'd like to fuck implies a young guy having a fantasy about an older woman. What American pie showed basically. No one cares if a woman really has young kids. It's a fantasy about an older woman from the point of view of a young guy, not about the kids of a woman.
So to me a good milf scene includes necessarily a young guy (the younger the better, of course talking of legal age) that looks young and a woman that could has approximately the same age of the guy in the scene (that means, 25-35 year older, which is what often is the age difference of a mother and a son).
So basically nowadays I don't even care if a scene has the label milf, or it's on a site called milfed/milfy/milfaf and so on, most of the time it's not what I'm looking for sadly.
So what terminology would anyone use for a scene that has a woman performer who's mid 30's to mid 50's but it doesn't include the "younger guy" dynamic? (The male is over 30 or whatever)
