Even though I know it would never catch on I've always thought there should be different names/rank for girls in the porn biz based on what kind of performer they are. In my mind it seems totally unfair that a performer like Bobbie Starr for example who does pretty much everything shares the same name (pornstar) as a contract girl who has a long list of things/guys they won't do.
Performers like Bobbie Starr, Flower Tucci, Ava Devine, Kelly Divine, Kelly Wells, etc....who do anal, IR, DPs and multiple guys should have a different name than the girls like Jenna Jameson, Jesse Jane, and most other contract and girls who only do straight boy/girl sex. It's not a putdown for the girls who only don't do all those things but I think different names would make things easier describing/talking about a certain type of performer and preferences. "Pornstar" jut seems to general.
Do you agree or do you think it doesn't matter?

I thought you were talking about a top 25 type ranking like they do in college sports. That would be cool.
Youre idea... not so much.

^I think the problem is that the term pornstar is now applied to everyone that has done porn. You could create different levels of porn performers but then again some of the girls you have mentioned have actually starred in porn films so by definition they are pornstars. Some girls are willing to do far more things on film then others and the best way to recognize them is to pay money for their movies. I know that's how I do it.

In rebuttal, I present Annette Haven.
There are plenty of people who would not consider having Anal or DP on your dance card to make you a superior performer to someone who can carry off a speaking role as well as fuck like a minx.

There are several "ranking systems" that already exists. For example, RAME has listings of most porn stars that includes their "do's" and "don'ts", as well as who they've worked with--and what acts they've performed in individually listed scenes. Then there's the FAME Registry that lists the popularity of performers, based upon hits on websites, MySpace, Twitter, etc. And, also, there is the Freeones website, that daily updates the performers who get the most "hits" on this site.
So, those are the "ranking" systems.
What you seem to be asking is that girls be classified according to the type/level of their "hardcore" scenes--from extreme gonzo to so-called "couples" scenes. IMO it's not the Performers who should be ranked this way, but the companies. Jules Jordan, Evil Angel, and the gonzo companies are clearly into the harder and rougher sex category, whereas Digital Playground, Adam & Eve, and Vivid & Wicked are "softer" in their scenes. So, if you buy products from any of these companies you know what you'll get--and what the Performer is likely to do.
Bottom line: I don't like setting up "categories" of performers--because it seems to always lead to "pressure" on the performer who do the "softer" scenes to "do more," or "expand" what she's willing to do on video. And criticism if she chooses NOT to increasingly ramp up what she does on video.
