The amazing thing isn't that this dude believes something so stupid - who knows what he really believes? The amazing thing as that he thinks "it’s a good point, and a good thing to teach young people,” whether or not anyone actually believes it. Things would be much easier if the Right were just stupid. Unfortunately they're also masters of cynical manipulation.
