I came across an absolutely adorable, petite girl who is new to me:
Amia Miley Amia Moretti,
http://www.adultdvdmarketplace.com/xcart/adult_dvd/dvd_search.php?type=performerid&search=186403&order_by=relea
At the moment I have no interest in purchasing a dozen or so new or used DVDs just to view and own her scenes. Is there a service yet that is able to procure her scenes form the disparate production companies or studios that own the rights and compile them on one or more DVDs. I am not interested in inferior web content but the actual scenes that appear on her dozen plus DVDs. TIA.

The only legal way to do it would involve buying the rights from all the various content owners, which would probably not be worth the cost, as a business proposition. I doubt such a service would ever exist, outside of perhaps a company offering that service within their own product line, to which they already own the rights.

Have any performers (i.e., girls) worked something into their contracts to the effect that they get rights or some other mechanism (profit sharing) to their scenes in movies that would allow them to make & distribute compilations of their works?
I agree with the poster and I find this problem kinda similar to the problem in the music industry, where customers only want a couple songs off an entire album.

The porn biz being what it is, there is a high likelihood of companies going belly-up, and all their content disappearing forever. If the girls owned their content, at least partially, then there is at least one interested person to help keep that content from going extinct.

With the exception of Jenny Densuke, all the girl's working for Maddy G Production (Marie Madison Media) are offered ownership options in their content. I doubt very much we're the only company doing that.
The idea that a company could go bankrupt and who knows - years of content - could be lost forever
if the footage is just seen as a 'product' rather than a piece of art. I think more studio's should
offer performers and directors vested interest, if for no other reason than to protect the art.

I applaud your business practices.
I like this idea, not just for your prior point, but also in the hopes that if performers have a vested interest in their work, it might improve performances and effort (maybe reduce the mentality 'I'm getting paid $x, whether I melt the camera or bomb') as the whole, 'if you don't perform, you won't get asked back' has been ineffective, IMHO.
I hope the porn industry really learns from music industry saga and doesn't hold onto business practices based solely on the fact that 'it has been/is the standard'.

On an somewhat related note (more unrelated but..), science is going through this regarding authors and their publications (i.e., publishing groups/companies), esp. related to federally funded research. In this case, I hope the bill dies.
BTW, holy shit, I didn't know super spinner Amia Miley was on ADT!

Hi Amia, I'm curious if you do not mind. Your name was not in the subject header and the topic was somewhat obscure so I was wondering if maybe one of your buds tipped you off that I was crushin' on you and chatting you up or are you just an ADT junkie who reads all the posts. TIA.

FYI: The forum 'search' function can find search terms embedded inside the message posts, not just in the subject header.

Not necessarily narcissism. More likely practicality/efficiency. If she wants to be responsive to her fans, and doesn't have the time/desire to slog through tons of irrelevant threads, the most efficient way to find the relevant (to her) posts is to search for her own name.

The solution to the limited shelf life is to use high-quality storage medium, and systematically/periodically re-save it onto new medium. Don't just "store it and forget it".
But this requires time, money and effort on the part of humans. The humans are the weak link. Not the technology.

ninja1, what type of storage medium are you referring too? I thought 'optical rot' was a real phenomenon?

I was intentionally non-specific. Whatever you use (harddrive, digital tape, CD/DVD) there is a "known" expected life for that particular medium. I'm just saying, take that timeframe into consideration and re-save the stuff at 1/2 or 3/4 or whatever fraction of the expected life. Maybe something new will come along, or shelf life improvement will be developed; generally I would expect things to get better (longer shelf life) as time goes on and advances are made.

Okay. BTW, since it sounds like you are technically inclined, have you heard/know-of any real world cases of optical rot (i.e., DVD rot, CD-R, DVD+-R/W) or has the stuff I read just isolated cases or tomfoolery?
Thanks.

Take a look at this Adult DVD Talk Forum Topic about an ADT member's bad experience with a factory-pressed porn DVD. If you hang out at various video/audio forums there are esoteric threads about which brands and which factories produce good and bad blank CD's and DVD's, including detailed test results. And those "in the know" swear by certain brands and swear against other brands. I have used some of the so-called bad (according to those "experts") brands. I haven't experienced 'disc rot', but then I do have plenty of old burned CD's and DVD's which I haven't tried to use in years. So who knows if they are still good or not?

There was a problem with the pressings done through that company. That isn't standard.

Thanks. I have done reading on CD-Labs & CDInfo for blank media recommendations a long time ago, but haven't keep up to date with recent stuff.
I initially used Sony stuff, but found I got a lot of errors and had horrible hardware read capability. I switched to Taiyo Yuden media and recently I'm experimenting with Verbatim. So far, I like the capability and cost of verbatim. TY is great too, but costs a lot.
Flash, are you aware of any real cases of DVD rot?

Yes, there appear to be some. I don't know the actual percentage. I think most perceived cases are equipment problems than disc rot. For instance, I had one that looked like it had what was called "disc rot" based on descriptions and ceased working in my DVD player. Five years later when I got new players, it works fine.

This is what really frustrates me about US porn - the lack of dvds devoted to a single girl. You have to buy dozens of dvds of which you only watch one or two scenes on each just to collect all the scenes of your favourite performer.
Compare this with the Japanese approach where the norm is dvds devoted to a single girl, and then on top of that they often release a "best of the year" disc with her best scenes that year, and companies regularly issue compilations of the top performer every few years that contain all of the girl's scenes for that company.
Now that so many adult dvd shop websites also have a capacity to download individual scenes for sale, it is surprising that there is currently no capacity to mix and match and order a custom dvd of your favourite scenes - I am sure it would go a little way in battling video piracy.

Actually now the I think of it, Private releases compilations of scenes of the more popular Private performers. They have a line/series called "Private Life of x" (e.g., The Private Life of Lucy Belle). But this is of course only for European girls, specifically, girls who have done a lot of Private movies.
Lately, in a time where porn companies are trying to save money and recycling previously filmed scenes (I say too much), at the very least, I don't know why these companies don't follow Private's model.
Comparing (i.e., Private Life of x) to a typical porn compilation or even general movie release, I know I am going to get at least 6-8 scenes containing major titty-time of Lucy Belle, even if a few scenes contain action I typically am not into (lesbian, anal). I liken it to buying a Various Artist surf music compilation with only a couple of songs from Beach Boys, as opposed to buying the Greatest Hits of the Beach Boys; you might not like all the songs on the Greatest Hits, but at least you're not wasting your money on a lot of random artists (who have been deemed good by the company), who you don't like.

Evasive Angles has the Big Butt All Stars line of DVD's. with (usually) a 2-disc set devoted to a single girl, a compilation of her Evasive scenes. (I have Crystal Clear and Darlene.) Also includes BTS and extras which makes me believe they don't leave anything out. Due to their concentration in the bigbooty and bbw genres, Evasive has a lot of scenes using a relatively small group of girls, so they are in a good position to make such compilations. The downside is that if you hate their camera/editing style, you'll hate it even more when you watch 6hrs of your favorite porngirl spoiled by cameraman/editor doings. But that's a different subject.
