| Anteros Member 117 Posts 4/03 | Im currently using hydravision 3 which came with my Radeon 9500 and its good, but Id like to try other software if there is any. Currently it only lets me pick one desktop image which it then repeats on the second monitor. Id like to span one huge image or even have two normal sized wallpapers. Theres some other things Id like to do, but I figure one problem at a time for now. Id just some suggestion for alternate dual monitor software to try out, cause I cant seem to find any myself. Windows has "supported" dual (or multi) monitors since version 98 and that support has been improved and extended in its feature set with each new version of Windows. However, allowing for simultaneous addressing and providing the tools to maximize the usefulness of two (or more) monitors are two very different things. You still need the proper hardware, the proper drivers (either supplied by Microsoft or by the hardware manufacturer) and any tweaking utilities that might be useful (supplied almost exclusively by the hardware manufacturer). ~ GaySatyr |

It also offers 3D gaming support however, and is one of the cards used heavily for dual monitor flight siming, etc. (although I don't use it for that purpose myself). Be warned though, gaming with multiple monitors can be very tricky and frustrating business at least at present. I have no doubt that technology and the gaming manufacurers are still on the move in that arena, and although right now it's quite awkward using most gaming applications with multiple monitors, I expect this will become a much more standard thing in the future. In any case, for the price, the matrox Parhelia card is very powerful, and very stable, and offers the option of having up to two LCD monitors, one LCD and two CRTs, or 3 CRTs hooked up to it at one time, and one of those CRTs can be a regular television set if you, say, want to pump your DVD-ROM output to a TV set. For gaming use, it is a good solution in terms of what's available today, but probably not the best solution. For day to day office/workstation use, however, as GaySatyr said, Matrox really knows what they're doing. You have a great amount of control, and the software is very intelligent when dealing with multiple displays. I highly recommend it. Just my 2 cents. :) Mike L. |

| Anteros Member 117 Posts 4/03 | Alex, I dont think Nview would work well with my ati board, but I will search for Catalyst, thanks. Mylons, I have been to the frusterating part of the gaming on dual monitors. But I have it sorted now and am ok with the way it works. My only complaint is that games that resize the screen will go down to the task bar if I click on something thats running on the other monitor (Such as a walkthrough on a website) Hopefully this will be fixed someday, maybe Direct X 10....
