The article stated that the key things to aviod, are storage places where air density and temperature wander rapidly. More constant temps are much better.

Discs should not be stored touching one another, like in some cylinder stack storage units, or in some sleeve units where the discs just sit in contact, the rubbing can damage the bond.

The other thing is to be careful of the label side as it is weaker than the surface side which has the plastic protection, don't write on the label with pens or things of that nature. In the case of double sided discs where both sides have the plastic lense covering, aviod excessive bending if using a lock case, and again aviod contact with other discs as it puts pressure on the adhesive.

If you follow those simple guidelines, you should have no problems having your DVD's last a very long time.

DVDs are less fragile than CDs -- the data is sandwiched in between two layers of plastic, but I am reading some concerns over the glue.

As the other poster said, try to keep the discs stored in a cool, dry place with a steady temperature. Also, don't use cases that require you to flex the disc a lot to remove it. That could weaken the glue bonds.

The disc makers claim these discs should last a lifetime. This is true for burned discs as well.
