If they want to give us real pictures, at least let them be publicity shots, press kit photos, or anything which might be remotely original. [Link] |

This doesn't happen too often, but occasionally you'll get a screen that is nothing but a bunch of box covers. Bleh. Oh, and would someone ditch those fucking "virtual rooms" where you click on a picture on the wall to see thirty seconds of some random scene from some other movie? The only thing worse is Kobe Tai's little interactive sex toy where you're somehow supposed to know that clicking on the ashtray means "play the part where I'm getting a blowjob." ------------------ "There's a sucker born every minute, but swallowers are hard to find." ------------------ Who is [ invalid url ] | The [url=464724]Darkmage Special</A |

| Bill All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | I can't say that I really care if anything else exists. Too many companies are spending too much time on adding extra things to disks (because they can, or because it's cool), and not spending enough time making sure that the transfer of the movie is any good. |
| greybeard Member 181 Posts 8/00 | A few trailers are always nice, but just give me a simple menu with which to select them, not some clunky, amateurish "game" interface most CD-ROM producers would have rejected! Most of the "alternative angles" I've seen included on a lot of these discs are second- or third-camera footage, or alternate shots that the editor and director (most often wisely) chose to leave out of the original edit. All of this costs space on a DVD, which leaves us with less-than-optimum picture quality and severely edited (especially Vivid) content. "Bad Wives" is a good example -- the picture originally ran about 140 minutes on VHS. The Vivid DVD is loaded with the above-mentioned junk, but the actual feature runs about 75 minutes! That is totally unacceptable!! |

( we actually asked the consumers) But I do expect them to fade away. They are a pain the ass, to tell the truth. I think Behind the scenes is great, and bonus scenes - from start to finish- are way cool- and enhance value. Also every once in a while a cool "gadget" feature is fun, but at the end of the day- it is the transfer and content that is important. Substance is what counts, clean easy to use menus, quality trailers, commercials in a seperate menu choice (hate when phone sex shows up on DVD movies) As I read reviews thats what matters. If the movie sucks- or transfer sucks- or music sucks- who really cares about some interactive "room" or whatever the heck that place is, where no one seems to get into anyway. But I know whats going to happen, someone is going to get a hold of one our new titles, and bash it for not having enough "extra's" I guarantee it. So we will continue to try to find a happy middle, not enough stuff to be obnoxious, and enhance viewing experience, with excellent transfer. ONE BIG QUESTION- WHAT DOES EVERYONE THINK OF THE WEBSITE/INTERNET ACCESS? JK |
| David Lord Member 236 Posts 9/00 | Oh and web-jumps...same as above. I don't use them a lot, but I want it there for people that do. ------------------ |

| tricia_devereaux Evil Angel DVD Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous? 4283 Posts 4/00 | Except that I LOVE photo galleries. At first, we were putting on still frames from the actual video. But I talked my authorer into scanning production stills. Whenever I rent a mainstream DVD, it takes me about 3-4 hours to get through the disc because I love all of the features. Not that picture quality should suffer for it, and the video should NEVER get edited except for legal reasons (I won't even bother ranting about that!). But there can be a happy medium I think. And just to defend my photo gallery decision a little, for those of you who may not know, the relative amount of disc space that the photo gallery takes up is VERY VERY little. Otherwise, I might have to let go of one of my favorite features. Tricia -- Evil Angel DVD |
