| bsl69dp Member 54 Posts 6/07 | So I have accumulated a shitload of porn DVDs over the years. Starting a few years ago I have always copied the images to my computer, so I can search using Windows and I can have random access without rummaging through a pile of DVDs. This worked for me for quite a while because I found that the DVDs offered pretty consistently good quality compared to what I could download from the studios websites. I recently bought a bunch of old Anabolic DVDs (like 30) out of porno nostalgia for Shyla Stylez, Kimberly Franklin, Belladonna, et al, and have been going through my usual routine. Which led me to my conclusion: Optical media flat out sucks. One old Anabolic DVD convinces my computer it doesn't have a DVD-RW drive so I have to restart it. Other inexplicable difficulties abound and have with DVDs as long as I can remember - for example, it works one one computer but not another, works today but not tomorrow, etc. Long live internet downloads. (Streaming sucks too but that's another topic) Being able to get 1080p of Asa Akira getting fucked senseless with a couple clicks worth of effort is porno perfection. And yes, I do pay for it. Elegant Angel gets theirs every month from me. Rant mode off. BSL [Link] |

I don't understand why most websites choose .wmv as their favorite format when it's so inefficient. H.264 is just so much better, and now they're starting to talk about H.265 which will supposedly be 67% more efficient than H.264, making UHD or whatever you call it possible. Also, why would streaming suck? It all depends on your Internet connection, but I can stream 1080p just fine. I love spotify for music and I'd definitely love a spotify for porn. Being able to stream scenes to discover them, and sync those you love. |
| Digmen1 Member 629 Posts 7/07 | They were so unreliable. Music LP's got scratched Music cassettes got twisted and broken. Music CD's crap out And yes some DVD's may not work. But we need to keep the DVD physical format as we need to keep high quality All the streamed movies I have downloaded are poor quality. I but a DVD here and there when I can afford it. |
| Jambavant Member 82 Posts 10/10 | Streaming is only a distribution method, it doesn't impact quality. But most people talking about streaming think about those crappy tube sites. Let me be clear: tube sites are usually of very poor quality, and don't represent streaming in general. |

I stream lots of content to my HD tv and it looks as good as a DVD or better. I stream NETFLIX and a bunch of free channels and they all look good. The porn channels I have and tried all looked fine. The only thing that's hit of miss is the free porn channels I get through PORNHUB. Most are okay with a few that are bad quality but I can't complain because they're free and most are meant to be an advertizment for various porn sites. |
| bsl69dp Member 54 Posts 6/07 | Realistically DVD is still quite good (assuming it works) but I quickly got hooked on being able to download huge quantities of 1080p with little difficulty. Want every Rachel Starr video on Brazzers? Click-click-click. New vid on Elegant Angel? Click-click-click. Go wash the car or do something else, come back, and it's ready and waiting. Run out of hard drive space? 2 TB for under $100. It's really come a long way in the last ten years. BSL |
