The box is there but the DVD inside has no identification at all-just a silver disk. Can't even tell which side is "up". {I've had DVD's with no art on the disk, just an engraved title around the spindle hole.} The DVD played fine. How can I tell if it's a burned copy? The other band is the area that was not burned (i.e. the original recordable surface untouched by the burning laser). It is possible that a burned DVD will appear to have one solid surface when it is filled and burned to full capacity. What you have is a double-sided DVD. In any event, try flipping it over and see if there is anything on the other side. Typically, studios put all the extras, ads, trailers, etc. on the "B" side, and the feature on the "A" side.
