When I rent some older titles (Diabolic, Anabolic, JJV, also Evil Angel/Empire, 3rd Degree, ...) from around 2005ish to 2010 or so, I never had such issues. But today again I went to the shop and got new Evil Angel titles: V for Vicky, Asian Fucking Nation 5, Anal Young 'uns, POV Pervert 17. When playing them, I get the occasional hickup (worst today was AFN5), so I gave it a spin on my computer (I have three different DVD drives installed there, which basically play everything out there). And, typically, there are read errors just around where the layer break should occur. So my question is: did some of you experience the same issue? Are current DVDs rushed too fast through the DVD manufactoring process, where discs are then released with minor errors -> also due to plummeted prices? [Link] |

The "V for Vicki" I was able to get correctly at another DVD drive (one out of 5 different types I have access to) Still on the verge for "Asian Fucking Nation 5" and "POV Pervert 17", here I could not get hold of another copy to see if it was only limited to the copy I had. Also, Ass Worship 15 has a read error (on the Bonus DVD), which I also could confirm on two different discs => probably also a mastering issue. P.S. All copies look pristine, no scratches or similar detractions on the disc's surface. Other discs of late with read errors: "Assfucked MILFs 6" (also the same error persisted on two copies I had access to) "My Brother's Point of View" (did only check with one DVD) "Romancing Her Rectum" (did only check with one DVD) "Inside Her Ass 3" (also the same error persisted on two copies I had access to) "Too Much Anal 2" (did only check with one DVD) And on some rental discs, all players have problems accessing the 2nd layer (but this affects to date only older discs), perhaps the glue used to hold both layers together after these years has a negative effect? |

Very few are defective. Storing dvds upright may help keep them from becoming defective. Several years ago, a few companies had problems with the manufacturing of dvds. Sometimes, a dvd will be released and a defect is discovered by a customer. Good companies will make it right and re-issue a new dvd. Companies are shifting to digital content, offering downloaded versions of their content. Like the transition from 8 mm film to video tape to dvds, digital content is the future of adult movies. I am looking forward to the day, when I can download a scene or a title that is just as good (in picture quality) as the dvds I own. I don't have to worry about any freeze-ups when I download a scene from an online retailer. |
