I would like to suggest a feature that could be included in porn DVDs that have music soundtracks. The feature would be a "Music On/Off" selection in one of the menus that allows the viewer to watch the DVD with live sound (no music). If a DVD has this feature, people who don't like music soundtracks in their porn can turn the music off and just listen to the performers. Everybody who likes to listen to music soundtracks while watching porn can continue to do so. Everybody is happy!
Would this be an easy/inexpensive feature to include in a DVD? Do you think that this is a good idea?
Comments, feedback, and responses are appreciated!
I would think this would be very simple to do on a DVD. All you would do is create a second audio track that would contain (or not contain) the music. The default first audio track, as always, would remain the director's vision.
This is done all the time for DVDs with multiple language choices, commentaries, etc.
Now, if we could choose a track where we don't have to listen to the director/camera man saying stupid things to the talent
It should be mandatory on every porn DVD with a music track.
I have noticed it on some gonzos before. But why on Earth put a music track on a gonzo DVD in the first place? Especially that cheap ##CENSORED## crap they usually use.
Wicked also put it on their new feature Camp Cuddly Pines , which I thought was nice of them. Pity they didn't throw in some good video quality too.
Porn music back in the 70s was cool and funky... today it's crap by someone who think the computer is 'magic'. Generally all studios could use the DVD-format a lot better. But this is porn you know...
Best suggestion I've heard in a long time. Also nice would be an option to view films without special effects. Alot of times these "artistes" in post production use distortion effects, slow motion, looped video, ect. Basically, I'd like an option to view the film as it was before these pretentious assholes decided beat their artistic meat at the expense of everyone else.
I think it's an excellent idea! I always switch off sound if there's any cheesy music going on..
However, in many cases, especially in feature movies, the original soundtrack probably isn't usable at all, because of the way the scene has been recorded (too many interruptions, directions while filming, etc.) In those cases, if you'd switch off the music there will be either total silence, or.. dubbed voices. Now imho, if there is anything worse than music in a porn scene, than it would be dubbed moaning.
I think having that option available would be terrific, especially as most here seem to loathe the porn soundtracks. I don't always hate it though. I've seen a number of dvds where the the music definitely enhanced the intensity of the film. Jules Jordan's DNA comes to mind. The Sophie Evans and Alexandria Quinn scenes definitely benefited from the music.
In it's simplest manifestation, this option is about another hour or two of work.
It's still sinking in that DVDs offer me the chance to offer both what I want to present, and what I think the audience might also enjoy seeing; and that doing this is not an artistic compromise.
A good example is 16:9. I want to shoot that way, but it's easy enough to allow people the option off watching a version cropped to 4:3 so they don't have to endure my emo-artsy black bars.
I think it's a great idea. Porn has evolved into what the consumer has always wanted. No BS beat off material. Gonzo got rid of the weak link in porn- the pathetic storylines and acting. Nobody watches porn to hear music, especially some crappy computer arangements. The only time I like music is in the intro tease scenes.

It's one of my favorite things about Ana/Dia, that I'm not forced to hear cheezy music during the scene. I would rather just hear what is going on in the room.
Anabolic/Diabolic have that menu option. Ever since I noticed that I have oftened wondered why anyone would choose to leave the "music" on.
SInce I no longer am "in house", at Ana/DIa let me clear the air, that was a Cal444 innovation. There are many others but since there is a thread on this particular one, I'll clarify.
