Some other ways to tell a dub from the genuine article: - Almost all VHS tapes have phone sex/website/studio ads at the beginning, while very few DVDs do. So if the tape goes directly into the feature, it may be a bootleg copy. - The quality of the VHS picture may be uncharacteristically sharp & without the occasional tape glitches found in tape masters. - There may be a layer change or evidence of other DVD-specific features (such as alternate angle icons or menus).
