Interesting comments. Thanks for the accusation. We used to have DVD Explorer listed. We had to constantly beg them to provide us with updated prices. We were lucky if we could get them to provide is with a dump of their products and prices at least once a week. We would prefer not to list a store than to list week-old inaccurate data. The stores that are currently listed in our price search have the technical skills to implement the things that we need to list their products. DVD Explorer has decided not to implement this functionality. If you want to see a store listed I suggest you contact the store. On a different note, DVD Explorer does participate in price search sites. In the mean time if you are interested in finding their deals or are dissatisfied with the quality of our free price search service I suggest you use one of the other sites. [Link] |

Dirk, I'm surprised you're not aware of what ADT is all about, which is looking out for the consumer on several levels. Careful screening of less than acceptable affiliate stores, service, quality of product, and above all price, including cutting their own profit margin and kicking it into our pockets. They even turn down advertising dollars from all those porn pop-up sites. They don't HAVE to do any of this, let alone OWE us anything, so I can understand why they might be offended at your comments, but maybe you didn't mean it like it sounded. From what I hear, DVD Explorer might not be as 'great' for everyone's needs as you feel they are. Take care, DB [Link] |

hey Guys, I apologize if offense was taken to the post. I didn't mean it as a pointed accusation, just a comment. I value this site (Adultdvdtalk) above any such site on the net. There isn't anyplace even close to this good. Sorry if I stuck my foot in my mouth. Should have chosen my words more carefully. That store has indeed provided me with outstanding service. The one time I had a problem with a shipment, they handled it immediately. The reason I made the comment is that someone there told me that you guys wanted too much $$$ to list you on your site. I realize that maybe the person that told me that was misinformed.Sorry for the flack. Edited by - Dirk Digler on Nov 1 2001

Dirk - just fyi - we don't charge stores who have an affiliate program anything to be in our price search. It takes us a lot of time to maintain each store's data - so I don't find it unreasonable to get affiliate commission. We've encouraged every store to join the kickback program so that we can share that commission with all of you. In fact we give out a larger portion of the commission thru kickbacks than we keep.Frankly, DVD Explorer's comments to you were unprofessional and just plain tactless. We made every effort to keep them in the price search. The functionality that they need to implement is basic - takes most stores 15-30 minutes to implement. [Link] |

Thanks for setting things straight! I don't know why they would have told me that. Sour Grapes perhaps. I will now go (with my tail between my legs) and give myself a "Time Out". Maybe even hold my head underwater for 10 minutes.I do hope that you guys forgive me for the post. Can I still be part of the club :-( .

For the record, when DVD Explorer was participating in the price search in the past they were not required to pay any type of fee. We simply asked that they pay us their normal affiliate commission rate on orders placed through our site. To state that our fee is too high is equivalent to saying "we don't like to pay affiliate commissions".We noticed that the level of orders going through their site dropped by 90% shortly after they made some modifications to their site. We informed them that we thought something was wrong with their affiliate tracking system on multiple occasions. Two months passed before they finally admitted that there was a bug. They then changed their affiliate program to an outsourced model. If a store does not have an affiliate program we charge them a flat fee that is equivalent to the average monthly affiliate payment we receive from other participating stores. It's calculated to be very fair rate. (It would be unfair to the other stores and advertisiers if we listed their competitor's products in the price search at absolulutely no cost.) If a store participating in the flat rate model later implements an affiliate program we no longer charge them a fee for participation. The reason DVD Explorer is not in the program is not a matter of finances, it's a matter of priorities. We requested that they provide us with an accurate web-based product/price feed just like the rest of the stores. They have decided not do do so. I apologize for carrying this on but these kinds of threads really rub me the wrong way. Edited by - drew black on Nov 1 2001 [Link] |

I was busy typing my post while you posted yours. (yes it took me more than 9 minutes to type my post.)Dirk, I'm not upset with you. I realize that you were given some inacurrate information. That's not your fault. I apologize if my frustration appears directed towards you. I'm really pissed off that a store rep would make comments like that to a customer. Our list of stores that we will never support on ADT is fairly short. It's situtaions like this that are cause for immediate membership in that exclusive fraternity. [Link] |
