True but the source from where she would get those well wishes is the same one where she would get people bitching and complaining. That's the entire problem with social media. There is no happy filter that removes any negative comments before they are posted. That's why anyone in Skylar's situation needs to do a full break. In fact I would be happier to know that Skylar has chosen to give up on porn entirely.
I don't think social media in itself is bad. It merely exposes the true colours of many people. In real life, the same person who was nice to you may just turn nasty and try to blame you for it.
^Yeah but at this point it's hard not to point out that she seems to be fueling the drama. I mean did I miss something because it was just a little more than a week ago that she was implying having suicidal thoughts and that her mom helped her. Didn't she ask to be left alone? What is she doing on social media? I know that last one is sort of self-evident but come on. You can't go from talking about suicide one week to having a discussion/argument about anal bleaching less than two weeks later.
^^ You old cynic Pat! In fact, when watching Skylar's insane TushyRaw anal debut scene, the first thing that came to mind was that my enjoyment would have been significantly enhanced had she endulged in a bit of anal bleaching!
^I can think of two that tend to stick out whenever she is naked. Of course I'm talking about her beautiful brown eyes because a gentleman like me would never stare at her all natural breasts.
Hard to get along with the ladies in the industry if she talks s**t about a different female performer every single day of the week on twitter. She's such a (boring) drama queen tbh...
There are many ways to self-sabotage ones career maybe this is her way.
Taking on other girls in industry pretty much guarantees that she won't be paired up with them in scenes and this can have an impact on the number of scenes she can film.
^I think that her career was already in serious trouble the moment she mentioned suicide. I don't think producers want to have their names associated with anyone who might decide to attempt suicide after shooting for them. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that maybe she had issues that fans weren't aware off but that producers were and those issues might mmake it hard for them to hire her even if she hadn't mentioned suicide.
^Unless it was already shot then you may never get another one but you still got one. My list of performer who I wished had done anal at least once is probably just as long as the one who did.
My suspicion would be that if producers only restricted themselves to working with girls who don't have any issues then not many scenes would be made at all! She's been 'feisty' for some time but has still managed to make more than 30 scenes in 2020, some of which are with some of the biggest studios. They will have personal experience of working with Skylar and it may be that their personal experience is very different from what might be expected from her social media posts! The bigger studios certainly have extensive procedures in place to make sure that the girl involved is looked after and has every opportunity to stop a scene or express their feelings (and this is something that Skylar will excel in!). I was fascinated to read about Gabbie Carter's really positive experience of working with everybody's favourite male pornstar (Marcus Dupree) in which she described the enormous professionalism shown by him and the people working with him to make sure the girl was comfortable and looked after. If producers take their 'duty of care' responsibilities seriously they have little to worry about.
If having a bad mouth is considered an issue, what do we say about all the male performers who were accused about rape, abuse and they still perform today without problems? So let's chill and not escalate this.
^ Exactly. All the social media circus and fan forums is one thing and is not the same thing as actually shooting scenes. If she's turns up, is reliable and 'performs' (and she clearly does!) companies are still going to film her. On a more serious note, from her Twitter account sounds like she's quite poorly and may have 'the virus'. Hope she's OK.
I would love to continue this conversation somewhere else, just not in this thread. I agree with you, the double standard and hypocrisy exists within the industry, and I can come up with tons of stories based off the tweets I've seen.
Let's be clear here. Her bad mouthing some performers on her twitter isn't really the problem. It's a stupid move from a newbie but she wouldn't be the first one to do that and she won't be the last. The problem is that a month ago she was talking about suicide and we are somehow suppose to overlook that.
^ So the fact that she announced to the world that she was having a tough time means that she should be denied the right to work. That problem occurred during the lockdown and so could hardly be claimed to be related to porn at all and so why on earth should producers, who have worked with her successfully in the past and got adequate duty of care procedures, not give her work? She's a 20 year old kid who is still trying to make sense of the world and her sudden fame. Give her a break!
There is a wider issue here in relation to mental health. Thousands, perhaps millions, of people 'suffer in silence' when going through a tough time. This is partly because of being worried about the reaction of those around them and the possibility of being discriminated against in the workplace. What we should be arguing for is that this girl gets all the help and support from family and friends but also from the professionals around her. Just from my limited knowledge, and from conversations with the few sex workers I'm in personal contact with, there are plenty of sex workers who struggle with anxiety, depression and yes, even suicidal thoughts, especially in this current crisis where a number are feeling very lonely and hard up. They need help and support not making redundant!

I don't know, to be in porn you gotta be pretty tough, nothing worse than someone who is in porn for the wrong reasons and can't handle it. This is commonly remarked upon by veterans like Nina Hartley, John Leslie and others. I think if someone is publicly discussing committing suicide they probably should not be perfroming.
^ I get where you're coming from and have a certain amount of sympathy. Wise words though these are from John Leslie and Nina Hartley, their experience of the industry is light years away from where it's currently at. They both started performing in their mid 20s while a lot of the current stars start when they're in their teens and are far less rounded, experienced people. Skylar is just 20. Leslie and Hartley had no issues from social media......or even forums like this to contend with. The pressure on modern pornstars is immense. If we 'binned-off' every pornstar who had mental health issues or the even bigger issue of addiction, we'd not have many left! I'll not go off track by mentioning specific names but there are plenty of current stars who on social media have discussed their depression and quitting, only to be out there as fine as anything days later performing. I totally agree that anyone who is obviously mentally unstable at the time or even with addiction issues shouldn't perform. To argue that this should end their career, which is what some people here are arguing for Skylar is totally over the top. Rather than aggravating the problem by hassling individual performers who are up-front about their problems we should be making sure that porn companies, producers and agents are held to account for looking after their well-being.
^I don't know if I'm one of these so called people calling for an end to her career because I don't have this power. If I did then yes, I would prevent a woman who says she wants to kill herself from shooting porn until she had seen a specialist for more than a couple of sessions. As it is. I'm just one voice in choir of thousands. Mine ins't louder than yours and you want to see her do more porn.
I agree with you that both Nina and John started their porn career in a time that is completely different from someone who started theirs in the time of the internet but both have a perspective that few have because they stayed in that industry through all the changes and therefore they know what newer performers need to have that their past counterparts didn't. Skylar is not the only performer to claim depression and she isn't even the only one to talk about suicide but how many of the others have gone on to have fruitful careers after posting those comments? I think producers are nervous about hiring performers who are vocal about wanting to kill themselves and that more than anything else is what kills their career.
^^ Pat, you and one or two others haven't exactly been showing any sympathy or compassion for a young girl who, like loads in the industry, seems to be struggling. As is usual on these threads and on social media, people are mighty quick to judge other people and to take social media posts as 'gospel'.

I overall impression I get (my comments included", is that we probably don't want another August Ames situation. The porn industry isn't for everyone. Some people can assimilate well and exist just fine. Some just can't. It's not how they're wired and don't know or are unable to really deal and cope with the way of the industry, especially with social media being a huge part of it. I'm not associated with the porn industry, but I can only imagine how stressful it must be. It's not for everyone. And if it's not for her, then yes, I want her to retire for the sake of her mental health. At the end of the day, I hope only the best for her and that she does what's right for her, personally and professionally.
^ Skylar has made it absolutely clear that her difficulties on that day had absolutely nothing to do with the porn industry but other issues outside. I think its great that people like yourself are sensitive about the mental health of pornstars. I just hope that those working directly with them (family, partners, friends and particularly producers, directors and agents) are as sensitive in looking out for them and making sure anyone gets the care and support they need.
I dont get the connection between depression and porn work etc, its not like EVERY one with depression or similiar is linked to the work they do. Your work dont need to have any connection at all, but in Porn, its always "IT" so fucked up.
^ In fairness to those who have been concerned about Skylar, there does seem to be a particular issue in porn and there have been some high-profile suicides. In general though, you're right. In my experience depression and suicide is far more often related to issues of self-esteem and self-worth and relationship issues than work related issues.
