Do you think the economical situations in some European countries are starting to affect the porn industry other there, especially those who produce, direct and even occassionly perform in their products themselves. I have noticed a change in the people that star in those movies, where they come from, using more and more people that are of a certain taste (ie older people, she-males and midgets), and even the country they film in.
I suspect those who do produce, direct and even occassionly perform are starting to struggle financially in what they do, and tend to go on the cheap. More so if they are only operating a business in Europe only, and some European countries are either in a recession or about to go into a recession.
Why do you think people like Rocco have had to come out of retirement, because they are probably starting to stuggle financially. Either that or his product isnt selling as well without him having to occassionly star in them, but I suspect its somewhere inbetween.
I dont mind some of Rocco's films, but to me even he looks like he has had to look at the cheaper options to star in his movies.

^Of course the economic situation has affected porn made in Europe. Why wouldn't it. In many ways. They are in even worse shape than in North America. Most if not all European porn sites have slowed their update schedule and some have actually stopped updating. There is so little porn being shot that most girls do only a few scens and then disapear.
Some of the ones that disapear will reappear on escorts sites but many simply fade into the unknown. Rocco isn't a good example because he may shoot Overseas but his movies are released through Evil Angel so he really works for a US studio. Better examples would be sites like 21sextury, teen mega world, DDF, Teen Core Club and a bunch of others. These sites used to update on a regular basis but they have either slowed the number of regular updates or in the case of TCC. They are mostly not updating anymore.

Yep, European porn aint what it used to be. Anal scenes are almost stopped completetly in Europe, only a few companies do them anymore. Without Russia the situation would be really bad, but luckily there they still shoot quite a lot of anal, but it has slowed down too and Russian government is planning to make porn illegal to shoot in Russia, so doesent look good in that regard either.
Also its true that most girls only shoot few scenes and then they cant get any more work, beacuse so few producers, so they decide to go to the escort route. Also nowadays there is a lot larger pool of girls who are willing to shoot porn that before, but way less producers than before. If some rich guy decided to go to shoot porn in Europe now he would get a ton of hot young girls willing to shoot it. Many girls are also willing to shoot anal, but very few are willing to pay for it and instead shoot a normal vanilla porn scene for cheaper.
But if you are into Escorts and have a bit of a money, then the situation is good for you. Lots and lots of young girls and prices have plummeted a lot, very cheap at the moment.

@Pat362 I don't agree with you saying Rocco isn't a good example, he might be a well known porn star but like everyone else he probably is feeling the pinch of the economical realities that is affecting the globe right now. I just don't believe he came out of retirement because he wanted to, more like it's because he had to for the money to provide for himself and his family. Personally I think he should of stayed retired as I think he is past it, but I suppose he has gotta do what he gotta do to provide for himself and his family, so I don't blame him.
He might work for a US based company and work mainly in Europe and hires people to work for him from Europe, but if his major distribution point for his product to be released is in Europe, and those distributors are struggling themselves. Which may either force them to close down or make cut backs on the products they distribute then financially it affects the people including Rocco that needs the product to sell best. The US market and any overseas market outside of Europe might take some of his stuff and distribute it and release it over there, but then you have got censorship laws in those countries. Which may only allow a fraction of the products to be sold in those countries, because what might be okay in Europe isn't in those countries. I know here in Australia we have some pretty funny censorship laws, and I read somewhere it does affect people like Rocco if he wants his products to sell over in Australia. You see Rocco's stuff may sell better in Europe than it does overseas, because they might allow 4 or 5 of his movies to be sold over there, but if there are censorship laws in other countries they may only allow maybe 1 or 2 of his movies to be sold over there, or maybe none at all.
@Utopia I agree they leave porn just as quickly as they enter it, because like you said they need the money and the producers of porn want them because they will work cheap, but then they work out there is more money to be made through other ways and leave porn.

^Actually Rocco never stopped doing porn. What happened is that he went front being a director and participant to being only a director. If you look at his IAFD page then you can see that there isn't a single year where there isn't at least a dozen Rocco movie. Now it's possible that he started to appear again in front of the camera because he can save money by having himself as one of the participant but you'd have to ask him if that is the reason.

Like people said above I think Rocco's biggest market is the U.S. so he was already impacted by U.S. recession like everybody else here. I think most of the biggest companies that still distribute DVDs depend on U.S. for lot of sales.
Private was in financial trouble long before recession and had been acquired by another company few years ago and had cut back on production before everybody else did.
Bluebird films seems to produce most of their content in U.S. now.
I think the biggest euro-based producer is Marc Dorcel. They would be the best indicator of how european market is doing. I don't know much about them?
Don't forget there are a bunch of euro-based internet sites also like DDF and Killergram.
Of course U.S. companies distribute their product to european markets also. So if the eurozone falls into recession that will just hurt them more.

Perhaps many porn producers are struggling but I don't think struggling is appropriate to qualify Rocco (if you see his huge property where he shoots most of his movies!!!), he is perhaps not reaping as much as he would have wished in such a difficult context.
Rocco's getting back to porn is IMO based on his own motivations. He is addicted to anal sex and he was frustrated by the low performance of his actors. So, he had to get back in front of the camera to open fresh asses. It's great to see that :)

Porn stars perform or go back to performing because that is their job or its the only thing they can go back to doing because for them that's what brings in the money to provide for themselves and their family if they have one, and I don't blame them at all.
Even the big names in an industry sometimes struggle financially if everyone else around their business lives are struggling also. Maybe Rocco isn't as poor as some of them but still even the people better off still struggle when everyone else does, and that property he has probably cost a bit to run all year long. Those farm animals he has probably cost a fair bit to feed because they need a special diet for them to stay healthy. Plus the guy loves his bikes and other vehicles and that too probably costs a fair bit to run and maintain also. Add the fact he has two young boys as well to provide for.
Rocco like any other porn star will say differently because the they know they have to sell themselves and the fantasy people have of them. If a female porn star was to retire and come back she would probably say the reason she came back was she was missing all the sex with various guys. But that's just her selling herself and the fantasy people have of her.
A male porn star will say the same thing that they are missing all the sex with various girls, doesn't mean its true. They are not going to say the reasons they came back is because they might be in the financial shit and they really really need the money to keep their house, car or give their children the best education they can provide for them. It just doesn't sell and the fans who buy their stuff probably wouldn't give a shit they just want to see them either fuck a girl or get fucked by guys.
Rocco like any other porn star who has a partner in their real life probably spends more time with their partner and have more sex in a year with their real life partner and enjoy the sex with their real life partner more, than they do on film with various porn stars. Its just not what we see or what makes money for them, that is their private life and it sure as hell not the perception we have of them because to us they are either a stud or a slut.
We as porn fans love to see them have sex on camera, but please don't believe that what they say or do professionally is real, because they are there to create a fantasy for us to believe in.
I have noticed even Rocco has gone with a lot of the producers and gone on the cheap side with the talent.

You must consider that in Russia is now illegal to shoot porn , if you can bribe someone you can shoot but obviously not too often.
Also as of today escorting is apparently less demanding and gives more earnings than porn, it is not a European phenomenon only, in American porn way too many stars are almost retired or aren't even shooting at all because now they are mainly escorts, even big names.
To that you have to add the webcam live work they do , masturbating and other things charging the minutes.
there are also lots and lots of minor productions not distributed in the USA or at least I saw some in a shelf but never in any online American seller
also in most of Europe, although kiddy porn is obviously strongly forbidden, the laws aren't the same as in the USA and 2257 might not be fully complied so that some products can't even be shown in the USA
it is true though that the economics is hitting hard (in Italy as of now the taxes have reached the percentage of 52% of one's incomes)

@Laurie Cameron Fan so basically anyone who lives in Italy or has some of their finances and businesses tied up there and has to pay taxes in Italy are going to feel it. I read somewhere the Italian government were after Rocco and few other well known Italians for so called unpaid taxes.
Yeah I forgot there is live web cam also.
I know in Australia its illegal to sell porn in Adult shops, but legal to buy to online with those Adult shops, yet they can sell sex toys and games and costumes in those stores.

The same way they went after Valentino Rossi (who lives in London), Loris Capirossi (who lives in Montecarlo)and many others , Rocco lives in Budapest, Hungary but he still is an Italian Citizen which means that you have to stay abroad at least more than you stay in Italy more than 6 months a year , if you don't they consider you as Italian based and thus you have to pay your taxes in there.
There are agreements between the Countries about taxes for cross overs workers so it can't be considered really unpaid , so that they can deal with the office and pay less to avoid the tribunal , neither them nor the Government want a long and expensive international procedure , also they did pay some taxes in the Countries they lived in and that must be counted as well , so Italy would have to deal with the other Country which might not agree to give up the high amount of taxes such people pay in there.
That is why they asked for example to Valentino Rossi € 40,000,000 of taxes and fines but dealt for "just" 9,000,000 , there were no basis for fines since he paid taxes in England and they just get the difference from what he paid in England and the part they say he had to pay in Italy and that greatly reduced the total amount
(the figures are just near the real deal but nobody knows the actual amount for privacy laws but they are close)
About taxes there's a proportion with those with low incomes they pay less , but I think this was a given

I think a lot of you are just guessing.
How come escorts that do porn charge so much ?
If they did not do porn they would be charging $100 an hour not $500.
The recession in Europe has not affected all countries !
And people still pay lots to watch a soccer match !
So I don't really believe in the economy causing any downtown.
Its more likely piracy.
And Brazzers are based in Luxemburg !

I think YOU are guessing man , I live in Europe and it is true that not all countries are affected the same way by the economics , still they are ALL affected , customers all over Europe are buying less than before , a lot less , of course in a market of 480 million inhabitants you still can sell , but can't chant in joy either, trades are slowing the middle class range is getting thinner all over Europe.
And Luxembourg is one of those place in which you pay very low taxes , Paypal Europe is also based in Luxembourg.
as for Soccer well it is a social event , people have a life cannot bury themselves in their houses
yes a pornstar or better a former pornstar can charge more than unknown escort , but not always, I've been told of an escort whose expertise is two men at once she charges € 400 for an hour but she's known because sometimes if she really likes at least one of the guys she can go all night with no additional charges , as you can imagine she's almost impossible to schedule in human time.

These are all decent arguments, but I'm still opposed to the idea of the U.S. bailing out Europe.
