So, I haven't watched Ed Powers in years. He just got so repulsive (i.e., fatter) that not even a hot girl could make up for it. He also got cheaper, because it became pure tripod work, without even a bad camera person. And fantasy porn does not entail condoms. Doing the newest girls makes him probably the least likely person to catch anything, so take the risk, you wuss. But I was bored and decided to do a $4.95 trial to see what it was like these days because some of those covers do look interesting.
THE GOOD
Well, it's still 90% Dead-Eyed, Limp "Just-Trying-To-Get-Through-This" girls and lesbian experiments that are so awful if Ed actually worked for someone he'd have been made to stop long ago. But that does mean that one out of every ten (one out of every three releases) is going to be interesting and they are. Sow a thousand seeds and something will grow. This is THE GOOD. I was actually shocked to be interested in the odd girl actually being turned on and getting off. But it makes sense. At least half the session is devoted to just getting her warmed up. That's not going to happen on an Evil Angel or Jules Jordan set. Manuel Ferrara and Erik Everhard aren't going to take the time to open some newbie up. They're busy professionals running a well-oiled machine. Ed does the heavy lifting here and is occasionally rewarded with a small erotic explosion. And actually the lack of anyone else in the room adds to this. And there's the one thing that people often ignore: lust. Ed's lust. He wants to be fucking these girls. So much so, he's paying for it. Again, Manuel and Erik are getting paid. And in the real world don't have to. Ed does and this lust has always permeated his work and reflects the lust of his audience in a way professional releases do not.
THE BAD
...but even when the girl is hot and actually able to get off on fat man with a tiny dick because of her supreme dysfunction, Ed. Cannot. Fuck. Never could, never will and it's frustrating to see a girl's eyes light up as she gets lost in lust but unable to go over the top because of Ed's small penis and lame technique. And you'd think by this time he'd realize that forcing a girl to kiss him is just cold water on both her and the scene, but he has not. And while coming in the condom may be good for him, this is a visual medium, so he needs to do what he once did and pull it out, pull it off and pop on her. And I'd never thought I'd say those words.
THE UGLY
Guess. Well, there are the technical aspects. The poor camerwork when he tries hold it. Please watch some Mike Johns and see how one man can make it hot. Then there's the poor editing between the stationary camera which are like blinking one eye shut back and forth, killing what little heat there is. And finally, he's just an ogre. A troll. Watching a girl have to fit her head under his belly to blow him...ugh. And it limits positions that can be used.
So if you're willing to wade through a lot of crap---and I mean a lot---you will find the occasional girl who, while never going to be another Jenna Haze, will overcome even Ed Powers with her sexual heat. And the funny thing is, it'll probably be her first and last time ever on video, so this is the only place to find it. And he still does occasionally stumble upon a future star.
Sigh. Why can't Mike Johns do a line like this? He's an affable guy who's not totally repulsive and has some technical skills.
