Eric and his best friend, Maggie, are on the edge of seventeen and donning matching polyester uniforms for their summer amusement-park cafeteria jobs in small-town Sandusky, Ohio. They learn the fine art of dishing up rib-chick combos and tater logs from their brassy boss, Angie. Maggie develops a special twinkle in her eye for Eric. Everything hums along until Eric see Rod, a gorgeous hunk with dreamy blue eyes, bussing tables. No one knows Eric is gay. Not Maggie. Not his mother. Not even Eric himself, really. In this refreshingly honest and exceptionally crafted first feature, the conflicts and confusions of teenage sexuality are a perfect match for the equally conflicted and confused 1980s. The acting is very good (especially Chris Stafford, the lead actor), the direction is professional, and the script is insightful. Nothing really new or ground-breaking -- but it's pretty good, all the same. Plus, it has a great soundtrack: "classic" 80's tunes by the Eurythmics, Flock of Seagulls, Bronski Beat, Toni Basil, etc. I'm definitely planning on adding it to my collection.  [Link] |

I watched it on the Sundance channel.......great coming of age story that takes place in Sandusky Ohio......cast is great and the guys are cute......yes, the lead does get rimmed in the car-its kind of funny as his face is smushed against the car window! It kind of hit home with me as it was comparable to what happened to me in college and the soundtrack was awesome! Those were the songs I used to play when going to school myself......Missing Persons, Haircut One Hundred, Alison Moyet,Toni Basil, Duran Duran etc. I really enjoyed it....
