her smile makes me so happy. i cant stop staring at pictures of her smiling. also thinking of taking the cover of "influence" her vixen showcase to the local poster shop and getting it blown up and hanging it near my bed in her honor if she passes. it is such a beautiful picture. ironically, jesse jane played her mother in that film.
I find it strange that her own funds can't be accessed to save her life. She's probably a millionaire. Weird health care system in USA as well. What if this happens to a random person without (wealthy) family or friends?
She always appears so happy in literally every scene I've watched. And I've started watching Emily Willis Influence again. She's a great actress who seems to enjoy what she does. I wonder how a bright personality like hers can have a dark side. Maybe she has adhd.
Lol really? Porn isn't real, it's a performance, they're playing a role. Nothing more nothing less. That's why she won POTY, she's a good actress. None of them actually cum in scenes. They all say this once they're retired and can be honest.
She seems to enjoy the story acting as well, the non sex stuff. Watched the first episode of Influence with Kayden (Slayed) and her (sex and non-sex) acting is really impressive. Thoroughly believe she's at least enjoying it. Porn isn't real but you can easily tell who's committed with pride and joy and who's not.
Two things can be true. Yes porn is a performance and it's not 100% real BUT there are elements to it that makes it real. You assuming that everything about it is fake. A performer can genuinely be happy on set in their scenes. I don't know what you've been watching but I've seen raw emotions in scenes. Not every performer say they never actually cum in scenes. I've heard like two performers say that. A performer might say most scenes they don't cum or it's harder to cum depending on the position, the scene partner, or the conditions of which the scene is shot.
But hey I can't speak for nobody but myself. I would point to you actually performers who would say you are wrong for thinking the way you do or point to scenes that will prove you are wrong but you will still say it's not true. Again I agree porn is a performance. Sex in general is a performance. And it's not 100% real bc of a lot of factors BUT there are elements to it that makes it real and to totally dismiss performers being genuinely happy in what they do even if it sometimes is insane.
WTF does having ADHD have to do with having a "dark side." Don't conflate those two things.
I have ADHD and never thought of myself as having a "dark side." Perhaps I should talk to a therapist?
Many people have ADHD and lead productive lives. Bill Gates has it, Albert Einstein had it, actors Ryan Gosling, Zooey Deschanel. Emma Watson, and Jim Carrey all have it.
Maybe Willis has ADHD or maybe she doesn't. A lot of people have it. Learn what ADHD is before postulating a theory on why someone has a supposed "dark side."
that's because you don't understand how the law is. she did 0 estate planning and didn't bestow power of attorney on any family members so her money unfortunately is locked up in her bank account and inaccessible to her family to help pay for her care. re what if this happens to a rando without rich friends. SAME THING.
I totally agree, LezMan. Performers are in general actually having "real" sex! A cock being sucked, a pussy being licked or fucked...there's nothing that isn't real about that!
Maybe she isn't as rich as people think. She might have spent most of her money on partying and drugs between shooting scenes through the years. But I'm just assuming.
Could also be. But joefriday and badd blud are correct. Her OF account is still probably generating revenue and collecting money into her accounts. These are probate assets, which means they can only be released by going through the probate process, which would happen if she dies or is declared unable to manage her assets herself. This process is more time-consuming if she dies without a will.
Even with death - such as the Sophie Leone situation - the probate process might take a while so the family needs to setup a gofundme to cover immediate funeral expenses, especially in such unexpected circumstances.
yes her fam can apply for probate to get access to her accts. but all this is moot because it takes time and money to do and the family are in need now to provide for her care. which is why i've pointed out on twitter to other porn people that it seems sad that they seem to brag about how much they make on podcasts, live it up but their family have to resort to crowdfunding to pay for their care or funeral expenses because they didn't have the foresight to do estate planning thinking they're young and therefore invincible.
I'm not american, but I think America's healthcare system gets unfairly spoken of. In Emily's case, for example, it sounds like she is receiving good care, and the gofundme request is not overblown. Most Americans - even uninsured - do not pay the vastly inflated bills you see virally posted on social media. And you have access to some of the best specialists in the world. That is very hard in a northern european nation like Finland. Americans often do not know that Europeans pay through the teeth in social services fees to get that great "universal healthcare", that Obamacare costs are quite competitive. Your neighbours to the north are struggling. Something like 17-20% of canadians do not have a family doctor, and there are recent stories of patients dying in emergency wards from the wait. Buffalo - a US city close to Canada's biggest city - has a booming medical industry from Canadians seeking immediate care.
no for you to say the uninsured do not have to pay vastly inflated bills is incredibly naïve. the leading cause of financial ruin in the us is medical debt. for you to be so dismissive of medical costs in america shows how much you really don't know.
"A new study from academic researchers found that 66.5 percent of all bankruptcies were tied to medical issues"
But if you take a step back, the number seems suspicious. 2/3 of Americans file for bankruptcy because of medical bills? How often do you go to the hospital or have a major emergency? Compare that to the number of small businesses that startup and fail every year (such as the notorious restaurant industry), gambling addicts, people who got scammed, or simple overspending. Don't these behaviors seem far more prevalent and therefore more likely to cause bankruptcy? If you scroll down to the end of the article, you see this:
"The research included 910 Americans who filed for bankruptcy between 2013 and 2016"
910 is such a miniscule sample size that accuracy must be questioned. And it has, by many researchers:
The majority of hospitals in the US operate non-profit to qualify for government support. They will typically set aside an amount for "uncompensated care" which are debts that will likely never be repaid for treatments. Since 1985 when a law was passed, hospitals must treat someone in an emergency regardless of insurance status. Therefore, the hospitals expect a small number of people are likely never going to be able to pay, and that's ok because a hospital is meant to serve the community. When an uninsured person receives the huge bill at the end that gets posted on social media, that is typically not the final bill for the patient. The hospital will discuss the matter with the patient and depending on the circumstance, will reduce or completely wave the cost. In a sense, the inflated pricing also serves as a write off for the hospital. You can find a little more info here:
That isn't to say it doesn't happen. A patient can get bad luck and go to the only hospital in a 100 mile radius, and it happens to be a for-profit hospital. A patient may require specialized, experimental, or rare treatments that the hospital simply can't wave off and must offload the costs to the patient. The patient then can declare bankruptcy to get out of it, but it is not necessarily financial ruin as this could write off a debilitating debt.
Ignoring the uninsured and really unlucky cohort who are outliers, I compared insured americans versus the europeans which was mentioned in this topic. I have recently lived - for an average of a year in each place - in germany, czech republic, hungary, spain, and austria. The Social Security Tax rate averaged around 30%. Obviously a lot of things are covered in that, but the bulk is healthcare. With an average salary for an office job of $5k which can be said is the same in both the US and western europe, you are looking at spending $1500 per month in europe. Possibly $2000 if you speak specifically about Germany. Compare that to the average Obamacare price of $500 for a healthy, working individual.
I assert from insured costs, american costs compare quite favourably to europe. And costs are not the only considerations. The quality of care matters. Which is why I compared the US to their neighbour Canada, which is grappling with a healthcare crisis such as most Canadians don't have a family doctor to see basic care:
This is the doctor you see for the regular things, especially before things go bad. Canadians are having trouble accessing this basic level of healthcare. In the middle, you have the lack of access for specialists and long waiting lines, which is why many canadians travel across the border to the states to get this immediately.
And on the other end, you have waiting times at hospitals so long, patients are dying:
My point wasn't to deny the recognition of those Americans who truly had medical emergencies and bills they are unable to pay and face ruin. That's truly terrible for them and I wish they weren't forced into these circumstances. I just wanted to disagree with the negative opinion of the American healthcare system, from a personal experience perspective, backed up by available information. It's quite good by comparison.
^One of the most absurd American pastimes...Americans analysing (aka fear mongering about socialized medicine) universal healthcare models used in other 'developed nations'. lmao An American citing local news stories about Canadian health care? How about we look at prescription drug prices in the US. Or emergency room visits for basic care. Or under 5 world mortality rates? Where's the US on that? Not in the top 20. Not in top 30.
The US for profit health care system is a system that no sane group of educated policy makers would use as a template for anything, unless they wanted poor results for the highest dollar. Sure, if you want the health care system to be almost 20% of your GDP, have at it.

exactly! everyone else in the developed world has better results per $ spent on healthcare and here we have someone in the previous post making it sound like the health outcomes in the us are "great"

I specifically said I am not American, and you are deflecting. The topic brought up in this chat was the financial impact of medical emergencies in mortal situations. I cited numerous articles showing it is not that bad in america. The other topics you mention, are part of a larger conversation about healthcare ie. How much is impacted by lifestyle and not the healthcare system itself, such as the overabundance of processed foods or the lack of public transit infrastructure which encourages more car use and sedentary lifestyle.
I think we got off on the wrong foot because I'm not against universal healthcare. If anything, we are in agreement. Your CBS article points out medicare. There is also medicaid. I mentioned in my post how most hospitals in the US operate as non-profits and you have obamacare which I think is great and pointed out how it compares to european SST. Doesn't that seem like a lot of healthcare in the US is socialized?
This is a slightly different topic wouldn't you say? A morbidly obese person who eats junk food all the time and has a heart attack, won't have better chances of survival under a european healthcare system. Health outcomes are greatly affected by lifestyle.
I understand what you mean though about healthcare spending
But this is a wider, complex topic. If you look at out-of-pocket spending in the OECD data, the US compares quite favourably, which was the original topic of our discussion.
As a whole, US spending is out of whack, yes, but it's complex. For example, long term care is included, which are things like retirement homes - something not common in most other countries so they would have less spending on this. I imagine the US has more elective procedures such as plastic surgery, liposuction, and self-sponsored drug intake (meaning you decide you want to take a drug instead of being told by a doctor) - which is very uncommon in the rest of the world. The most recent and highly public example of this is the drug ozempic.
Also, I know you guys probably have some experiences that make you critical of the US healthcare system, but this is the system that is keeping Emily alive right now. I thought we are all supposed to be optimistic and hope she recovers.
MOD: Can we bring the thread back to Emily Willis? I think there is a thread on Healthcare in WN&N, and if there isn't one of you can make one. And the speculation on what Emily Willis has needs to stop. If you have "diagnosed" her without an article to back it up, take it down.
I'm not sure how much stock to put in this report, but I did a Google search for Emily and found this report from "OutlookIndia.com. It reports the toxicology report was completely negative. She did suffer a massive heart attack and only weighed about 88lbs when she entered the rehab. Read it if you want and make your own conclusions. Again, this is from India, not the USA.
MOD: Three posts after I state the speculation is to end you post this. Please provide a link to an article that states this regarding her and I will lift the posting suspension.
I wouldn't consider indian media a reliable source. they care more about salaciousness and bank on their audience having 0 critical thinking skills. one glaring thing in that piece is the claim that she was severely malnourished: if this was true why didn't the rehab center send her to the hospital earlier so they can put her on the drip
I wish there was more support from other girls in the scene. They all brag about how many millions they make on OF, but when someone is struggling you see almost zero compassion and (financial) support.
Yesterday I did so little as mention 'Emily' on Evelyn Claires twitch stream and got perma banned. I'm not even in this scene and Emily is on my mind every day because of her condition right now.
"Porn isn't real but you can easily tell who's committed with pride and joy and who's not." Can you really? Plus, Emily Willis' current circumstances may have nothing to do with how much pride and joy she did or didn't experience in porn. There's life outside of porn and my understanding is that she left porn over a year before this happened. Wishing her the best, though I'm not going to sugarcoat the situation. Unfortunately, the prognosis doesn't seem good. Yet, her condition apparantly stabilized: https://www.tmz.com/2024/03/07/porn-star-emily-willis-coma-family-prepare-worst-hospitalization/
^Just saying what has been reported and can't confirm her current condition. That article was from 10 days ago. Though stabilization can offer a glimmer of hope, it can sometimes be temporary and the condition can get better, worse, or just stay the same.
just because they're not vocal publicly doesn't mean they don't care. they could have quietly donated to the crowdfunding or done anything else behind the scenes
Emily Willis is slowly -- and her family hopes, surely -- on the road to recovery after a cardiac arrest last month left her unconscious and hospitalized in critical condition.
The 25-year-old adult film star's father, Michael, tells TMZ ... while she remains in a vegetative state, there have been notable improvements -- mainly, she's now awake and able to track things with her eyes, smile, and even become emotional during conversations.
Sadly, Michael says doctors aren't anticipating further improvement beyond what she's already achieved.
Additionally, they haven't yet identified the root cause of what led to her cardiac arrest ... especially since an early toxicology report determined there were no drugs in her system.
For now, the family's asking for prayers, which is about all they can do.
