Hope this is okay: "The family of former porn star Emily Willis is suing a Los Angeles rehab center, alleging its negligent and abusive treatment caused her "irreversible brain damage." The 25-year-old, whose credits include "Blacked," "Deeper" and "School Sluts," has been left permanently disabled following a stint last year at [rehab], where she was seeking treatment for ketamine addiction, according to legal documents. Willis was allegedly found unconscious by a staffer on Feb. 4, but it wasn't clear how long she'd been left unattended. According to the lawsuit, she suffered cardiac arrest at the facility. Paramedics performed CPR for over a half hour before her heartbeat was restored, the suit states. However, oxygen deprivation allegedly left Willis in a semi-conscious state, with "irreversible brain damage and permanent physical and mental incapacity." She's now in a care home in Utah, unable to move or speak. The plaintiff, her caretaker, is accusing the rehab facility and its parent company, [rehab], of "abuse of a dependent adult, professional negligence, negligence and fraudulent business practices." "Had the staff followed standard medical protocols, Emily would have had the opportunity to regain control of her life," the attorney charged. "No patient should ever be subjected to such a horrendous breakdown in clinical care. Her health was ignored until it was too late, and now her life is forever changed." According to the lawsuit, Willis was admitted to [rehab] on Jan. 27, 2024, after spending the previous year consuming "five to six grams" per day of the dissociative anesthetic ketamine. She also allegedly suffered from anorexia. The suit, filed Dec. 27, 2024, is seeking "no less than the jurisdictional amount" of compensation for damages caused by her debilitation, as well as restitution and legal fees, it was reported. It would seem that she was in pretty bad shape when she checked into the care facility and it's probably fortunate that she accepted that she was at the point where she needed professional help. While her legal guardian is claiming negligence among other things, the care facility is claiming that she was advised on several occasions that she needed to seek medical attention, advice that she declined to heed. Aside from providing her with the care and attention that any patient would receive, it's difficult to know what more they could have done to help her. [Link]

It's basically plaintiff's statement of what they think they will be able to get a jury to accept as harm done to them by the defendant down the road. Neither side has disclosed evidence at that point. The facts haven't been established though documents or testimony. For all we, or even the family know, at this point, the facility could have a document signed by Willis refusing medical care. On the other hand, there could be documented requests by her fore car that were ignored. The facility will probably file a response to the complaint that basically says, to paraphrase "My Cousin Vinny", "Everything in that complaint is bullshit, your Honor." Months or years of discovery and disclosure will follow for both sides to try and build a factual basis for their positions. The facility's insurance company will identify an amount that they may think is cost effective for them to offer as a settlement regardless of the merits of the case. In the end, unless this goes to a trial, we'll likely never really know the extent of fault by the facility, if there is any. [Link]

I know of no rehab that visually monitors their clients 24/7, nor have I ever seen anyone on a heart monitor other than maybe a Holter Monitor which is read by a cardiologist after 4 o5 days, it does not give real time readings that can be monitored. The main thing here is well wishes for Emily, God bless her. In a way, I hope that she is a sleep most of the time, common with brain injuries. It's tough to think of her lying awake locked in her shell. It kind of takes me back to the Karen Ann Q. tragedy from 1975 to 1985. Different circumstances, but equally tragic. [Link]

Click to expand I was about to post a question regarding a dollar value as to her bills so far and around two million was a figure l was going to suggest, that's also keeping in mind that whatever it might be to date, it's far from over. Whether or not whatever money she had saved has been released is anyone's guess but given her day to day expenses, it's unlikely to have been anywhere near as much as people might imagine and certainly nowhere near enough to cover her medical expenses. I don't now that her story is more tragic than plenty of other performers who I suspect you guys still watch because you aren't aware of their tragedy or enough time has passed that it's no longer an issue but if what happened to Emily is going to affect you guys long term than I really don't recommend you visit IAFD and read how performers passed away because your list of women you can't watch may grow by quite a lot.
