I recently placed an order with Erovideo. In the order confirmation e-mail, I was told "We will send this order without boxes. This because the lower chance that Customs
confiscate the order."

I have a couple of questions. Do European DVD's have cases like US DVD's do (with the clear plastic cover where cover art is inserted) or are the cases the hard "clamshell" type cases where the cover art is a part of the case (like some Euro video tapes I have received)?

If the cases are like the US cases, does Erovideo ship the cover art insert or do they just ship the DVD itself?

Does Orgazmik ship the covers (or cover art) with their DVD's? I placed an order with them as well. They didn't mention anything about whether they ship the covers or not.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

@Bill Broderick,

Yes, they send the DVDs without Boxes,
each disc is wrapped with plastic and they include
the cover.

Bill-I'd be greatly int'd in a follow-up post (or email) after you've gotten your order from Erovideo. I'm also considering them & thought I'd place a small order to test the customs waters. Thanks,--menace

Nice to read how you think about our way of delivery.
We send always a confirmation that we send without boxes but that`s an standard answer.
We can send the way you prever, no problem.
Just send us an email after you have ordered which contents the way of shipping you prever. Specially for Private boxes because they have sometimes double layers and the size is different.I can imagen you would like to have them also.

Sorry about my english writing but I hope that I have given the answer you need.

We all the best we can to avoid custom checks but if they confiscate your order(that chance is very low at the moment) contact us again then we will send again for free.
That offer is off course for all customers.

Kind regards,

Menace,

I believe HM Customs are monitoring this forum, the less they know about what's going on, the smoother it will go for all of us talkers in the UK . No further comment

I knew that as soon as I asked this question that I would receive my order. It came today. The DVD's come in an envelope within an envelope. As ookz mentioned, the discs were wrapped in plastic wrap to prevent scratches and the paper covers were included. There was no mention of the contents on the outer envelope, nor was the return address one that would cause anyone any suspicion of the contents.

A few months ago, I wrote in a thread in the US Shopping forum that I wish that US companies would ship like this because it would greatly reduce shipping costs.

I received my order in a little over a week and I will definitely order from Erovodeo again.

Thanks for all of the replies.

Bill-I was curious why Ero operate 2 separate sites. I was trying to compare titles & prices between the two to see if the dvd section of erovid has all the same titles as erodvd. It got kind of tedious & I gave up for now. It does look like erovideo is geared to the US market more, since the prices are in US $ only. I'll make my choices & place an order tomorrow. I assume your Orgazmik order has not arrived yet? Anyway, I'm much more int'd in erodvd-lower prices & free shipping. Tks for the response--menace

My guess is that the US site has NTSC DVD's and the Euro site has PAL DVD's
Correct. According to their order inquiry, it hasn't shipped yet.

Hi All

My last 2 orders were sent without boxes but were still checked by H.M Customs. These were sent on ASAP. I still received these orders within 3 days, which is good from Holland to UK.

Hi Bill,

As has been my experience, most Euro DVDs have plastic cases with colour inserts, like US ones, but there are SOME companies that have the "Cardboard clamshell" cases with the art printed onto it.

Euro Private DVDs should all be of the plastic-with-insert type, though I have found that several Goldlight titles are of the Clamshell variety.

Their different sites referred to are erovideo.nl and erodvd.nl -I would imagine this is because their business started off as primarily video sales, but with the growth of dvd they decided to open a dvd-centric site. Though both sites seem to offer some of both.

For PAL vs NTSC releases, I'd strongly suggest that you ask them on a case by case basis which are which, after all they as a European company are more likely to have predominantly PAL suppliers.

cheers,

scipio

scipio-actually they state on both sites that everything is PAL. It's still confusing because they don't show their entire inventory on both sites, and in some cases the price for the same dvd is cheaper at erodvd! I ordered some of the Maximum Perversum titles (I was tipped off to low price by Charlie) that were $5 cheaper at erodvd. The price was shown in euros but I'm sure they will convert it to US dollars when they send the confirmation.

I know that English Customs seem to allow most of Ero's stuff through, but Irish Customs seem to be more stricy. Two of my last orders were confiscated and as a consequence, I haven't been back to Ero in a while (finance being the other main reason).

I think it seems to be because of the aftermath of September 11th and the requirements of sender's (Ero's) address being on packages and envelopes, that they are monitoring here in Ireland and thus searching and stopping any they find. Do any other Irish forum members have similar problems OR can Aline do something concerning this.

Anyone with opinions, please feel free to respond.

Thanks,

Cykedout

Well I recieved my latest erodvd order today, the first in quite a while and I have to say I'm quietly impressed with their shipping method. the Discs were carefully packed so as to not get scratched, which is my number-one issue with my various DVD orders (well, aside from the occasional one that will go missing).

The packaging was also quite subtle, the only reason I knew what it was was because I was expecting it around now, and because of the postmark. Was very happy, and immediately placed a followup order this afternoon.

(my personal rule with anything I buy through the mail, DVD or otherwise is "one in, one out" ie no followup orders to/from anyone till the previous order is fully supplied, even if it takes months for that last backordered item)

And yes, the dvds arrived with the slicks/artwork, to just be slid into empty DVD cases. These were Privates, you might want to double-check with who you order from on other European DVD studios.

cheers,

scipio
