In a thread over in the star crossed forum there is a discussion of drug use in porn. While it's unfortunate that there seems to be a ficious cycle of drug usage by performers, there really is nothing that can be done about this. Every time there is a discussion about something that is happening in porn that is wrong, the basis for change is that it is unethical (whatever is happening). Squirtfan brings up an excellent point that really hits home for me.....ethics and porn are two words that can't be used in the same sentence. Change in porn for the right or ethical reason is simply not something that happens....change for the almighty dollar is. Belladonna summed things up on her interview with 20/20...she said that the industry is basically older men (who supply the working capital) and male performers, sometimes twice the age of the young porn girls, basically coming together to make these girls do wild sex acts that are simply not common in society. Anal, DP's are sex acts that are becoming more common but Cum farts, Anal Cream pies, ASS to Mouth, drinking an anal cream pie....etc . Squirtfan is right - Ethics ? Please. The Dog
Thanks, horndogger. I was tossing in my sleep thinking about Ethical Porn. I could not imagine a woman getting a facial, then wrapping her face with a tissue since it is the ethical thing to do.
I guess I'm more optimistic than you are, horndogger. The thing is, it's not that I disagree that some pornographers lack enough ethical standards, but the idea that porn can not co-exist with ethics is a notion that I will never accept. In fact, I think it's ridiculous.
What goes on behind the camera is not always the same as what goes on in front of it. This one, simple premise is something that porn fans as a whole seem reluctant to accept. Maybe y'all define ethics differently than I do. ::shrug::
Man... reading some of the threads around here these days, it's a wonder the world isn't coming to an end.
As I've said before, ethics depends on people, not what industry you're in. Some people in porn are ethical, some aren't. This is no different from any other line of work, including the clergy, unfortunately.
If you feel bad about the porn you are watching then you are free to stop, or you can support those people in the business who you believe are ethical and not support those who you believe aren't. You can also raise questions in forums like these, and if enough people agree with you then being ethical will become advantageous to doing business and more owners will start acting in accordance with the concensus.
Or, you can choose to ignore those situations you feel are unethical and continue to support those involved, in which case you have no cause for complaint.
With all this talk about drugs and ethics, one thing I think a lot of people are missing is, I believe a lot of those involved with porn got into the business so that they wouldn't have to deal with such issues. I think one of the attractions of a career in porn is not dealing with the influences of the outside world. Its not limited to drugs though, the hours involved, the pay for the work, and the freedom to do pretty much as one pleases I believe are all benefits. Also, you don't really see anyone in the industry complaining... Hummmm??
To say there are no ethics in porn is not correct either.
horndogger - Answer me this. I want to make a movie about say "drinking anal cream pie's" since you brought it up and I think that is pretty disgusting. I am the producer/director. I personally talk to each cast member in person before their scene to make sure they FULLY understand what they are getting into (particularly the females). I also try my best to ensure they are not drunk (no alcohol on set) or high as best I can. I personally verify every performers test results and I stop the scene if I get the feeling the woman is in over her head but in the end my movie gets made.
Did I just do something unethical?

You make good points Lee....as per any profession it depends on the individual person and their conduct. I think the point I'm trying to make is that when Porn stars are interviewed later on in their careers or when they have retired, they almost all say they had a bad experience in Porn. I have spoken to everyone from Shyla Foxxx to Stryc-9 and the answers are all the same....they feel that the treatment they received was poor and that they were taken advantage of. I can thing of only one girl that I have talked vie email (out of 13) who had good experiences in adult and she worked for Jill Kelly Productions. To answer your question about the anal creampie swallow scene scenario....if the producer/director took all the precautions you've indicated then yes, that's as ethical as one can get in porn - however the fact still remains that this is most likely a down on her luck, impressionable young girl who doesn't know any better and is being taken advantage of by the producer. Yes she may be a consenting adult but we all know that what she is doing is demoralizing and condensending. I accept my measure of responsibility as a consumer of this product and try to avoid titles that are demoralizing to women. I think the average porn fan is considerate towards the talent - an example was the backlash that Vince Voyeur took for xxx road trip vol 4 when he told the girl to go work at Mcdonalds. In summation.....it's not all those in porn who are unethical but I dare say it's the bulk of the producers - again I arrive at this answer from the interviews that former adult stars give later in life. This comes as no surprise to me, since the normal routine is for the women to work for all the companies, and thus they'll experience the bad with the good. If any blame needs to be assigned, I suggest it is to their so-called agents for letting them work for known scumbags.

Good Point Hardware.....We haven't even talked about the agents. There is one who posts here who ranted about he loves to find young girls to get fucked in the ass. He claims to test them out himsef then sell their A=hole to various bidders. Ficious Cycle Dude The Dog
I think that porn (for us male consumers) is about beautiful young women, who choose to share their sexuality with the viewers for a financial compensation. These ladies are the stars, the actresses, the entertainers. Unethical conduct in that sense would be if an actress is not giving her 100% or even 110% while performing. OK, I may be a bit idealistic here. And of course, the same applies to male performers. Consumer is always right applies also here. But I wish also to be an ethical consumer and I would not purchase a porn movie or magazine, if I'd knew that performers or any other people involved would be degraded in the production any way. I do not like for example, if the beautiful actresses are adressed as "sluts" or "whores" except if clearly in the context of role play that is the point of the movie. Well, and the people involved in the porn production probably have a hell of a lot more sex than me. Now, that's unethical.
Would it be naive of me to suggest that the porn-consuming-public should vote with their wallets? I've only been producing videos for less than a year... I've gone out of my way to be ethical and supportive to the women in my films... I've met lots of other producers, some who I consider to be genuine friends. Some of these producers are very kind, ethical businesspeople. And some are just straight-up exploiting girls for money; pressuring them to perform sex acts they are scared to perform; striking cutthroat deals with agents/pimps that leave the girls out in the cold. Unfortunately, I've noticed that the bad guys have bigger houses and nicer cars.
The viewing public's taste in content dictates the ethical environment in which these films are produced.
It is highly unlikely that the majority of the porn-buying public has any idea regarding how performers are treated by the different companies.Nonsense. The ethical environment is dictated by the values those producing and directing porn movies place on money versus the welfare of their fellow human beings. In other words, greed and indifference to one's fellow man exists in the porn industry just as it does in other industries.
I think if you're 18 you're legal to do whatever the law allows you to do. Join the army or be in a porn flick. If sum 18 year old dude said to me " oh man I wanted to get into porn and these mean producers tricked me into eating an anal cream pie!" I'd be like "Man, that's too bad" I wouldn't have much sympathy at all for dude.
So what's the point of feeling sorry for men, or women who choose to do dangerous/nasty shit. They can always say "Nah I'll pass on eating that anal cream pie!, You can keep your $1000!", but they don't wanna, because ...I've worked in warehouses and fast food joints. That shit aint fun.
