The average sex scene in a film from the 70s ran about 4-6 minutes, give or take a minute on both sides. Generally, there are 5 minutes of sex for every 7 minutes of plot, which I feel is a much better ration than today's features which average 15 min of sex for every 4 min of plot. Click to expand There are a lot of scenes now-a-days that are waaaayyyy too long... to the point where it's bad for the overall production. Sometimes, I think that they do this just so that they can stamp a long running time on the box cover so that people feel that they are getting more for their money... (emphasis on the word "feel"...) At this point, I actually try to stay away from anything that's over two hours b/c I know that it will take forever to watch it (and the scenes will likely get monotonous) -- especially if I am doing a review... You might have fallen for a dame early on in the movie and there was suspense as to whether she might come back for an encore and if she did the thrill of seeing her possibly do some new stuff.
