I read an interview someone posted where the person being interviewed said the days of the long career pornstar is over. His reason for saying this was because years ago a pornstar would pace themselves and only do a few movies/scenes a year and that kept her fans wanting more. He says nowadays pornstars do so many movies/scenes that fans "burnout" on them and their shelf life is considerably shorter. I totally disagree with him but I was wondering how you felt about this. Do you burnout on a pornstar after you've seen her a certain amount of times? Does the pornstar even matter to you as much as the sex act or studio?
I agree with that statement. I feel like I grow tired of the new pornstars a lot faster than the ones that started out around 2006. It may also be due to that I'm a lot more experienced in watching porn now, whereas 7-8 years ago, it was much harder to get a hold of porn and thus more exciting.
I think it's less a matter of burning out and more one of simply not having enough time/money to dedicate to old favourites, what with new attractive girls coming in pretty much constantly. You can either build a list of favourites and then stick to it when it gets "full" and not pay much attention to newcomers anymore (I suspect that process would take less than a year for just about anybody who's not merely watching porn casually but actively seeks out information), or you can keep watching the revolving door and gradually replace old favourites with new ones.
I´ve said it before a couple of times. There´s way to much porn today. It get´s impossible to watch due to all the good stuff coming out in shorter cycles. In the VHS times you could enjoy the tapes until there was another volume from your favorite series available (Seymore comes to mind) Even if you stick to "just" one studio it has become so hard to follow and find the time to "really" enjoy the videos and not just ff thru them. I had to hit the brake in buying dvds cause i have dozens of dvds not even opened once (and not knowing how much of them may have the problem of not being able to be played in full due to a problem created in einther editing or pressing the dvds). There is also a problem with the needed tool to enjoy the dvds but thats another story i don´t want to explain right now. I would have no problem if a studio with 5 or 6 directors would only put out 4 or 5 movies per director in 12 months (24 to 30 movies annually) Now a lot of Directors have 2 or more series which generate even more output. Beats me how this stuff is cut and edited ... those guys must be working constandly ... no wonder some "neeed" to take a break. And one last thing ... 20 Years ago the internet was ... if present ... way too expensive to bother with the hardware present in these times. Even if you are not buying dvds and/or blue rays there´s too much porn around to really enjoy it Cube
I pretty much did that. I had a list of Top 25 favorites that i enjoyed 10 years ago, that i gradually changed in the my todays list that been goin on for 2 years. So for 2 years i have Top 25 pornstars that i only watched and i usually din't care about the newcomers anymore. About 20 names on my list are from currently active performers and 5 from retired. The old pornstars that i use to watch got eventually burn out on me.
I think that the problem now is that pornstars have to do more scenes to earn some good money. In the past they were patd better and could afford to do only a handfull of scenes. Now they have to do more scenes te earn some money. It is well known that the companies pay less than they used to do because the downfall of sales of DVDs

My impression is that porn stars - at least compared to 5 to 10 years ago, dunno how it's compared to the 1990s - are mostly suffering from lack of work offered, not from scene rates having cratered. They might be a bit lower than they were when DVD sales were still going strong, but I believe most agents have prevented it from turning into a complete buyers' market for the producers. It's true.. burnout exsists. I guess its just like marriage. First you are hot for eachother because everything is new. After that the stage of loving eachother but not so much sex anymore as in the mating years. I used to see and look forward to all scenes with Phoenix Mary, Kelly Madison. That's all over but I still love the girls :-)
This is totally the opposite for me. The more scenes the better. The less and I will start forgetting about her since there are so many hot active girls.
I don't think it's a case of burnout as much as it's a case of too much of the same thing. I mean there was a time when there was this thing called scenario porn where performers played a character as well as had sex. The plot was not always the best, the acting wasn't the greatest but at least the performer was not playing themselves over and over. The performers played a role that was detailed to them, they wore clothes appropriate to that character, their hair and makeup was made so that the performer would disapear into the character, they had dialoge written for their role and instead of watching someone like Ginger Lynn then we would be watching Betty Sue High School cheerleader having sex with Tom Byron playing the role of a High School Football player. Ginger and Tom had sex in at least 20 plus movies and yet they probably never actually had sex with each other because they always played a role in their movies. Today most porn performers don't play a role. They always play themselves so once you have seen porn girl#1 have vaginal sex with a bunch of generic porn guys then you can hope that she does anal with a bunch of generic porn guys, then dp's with those porn with a bunch of porn girls. Aside from the hole being penetrated or the person with the porn girl. Most scenes are pretty much the same.

"Burnout" is probably too strong a word for me but with a lot of my fav pornstars I do through an arc of wanting to see anything they do to being more picky. At some point I want to see something different. Usually, just doing something for a different studio is enough to keep me interested. A BRAZZERS scene is different than a JULES JORDAN scene is different from a WESTCOAST PRODUCTIONS is different than DIGITAL PLAYGROUND. As much as I like the stuff JULES JORDAN and EVIL ANGEL studios do it's easier for me to get bored with watching a girl appear multiple times in their stuff. The posing in sexy outfits sexy outfits for however manya minutes then having the guy appear has it's appeal but it's kinda the same thing over and over. Vingettes/set-ups/senarios add more to to the sex act and seeing different senarios/situations can keep things fresh...even if the actual sex part isn't as strong as with some studios/directors. Another thing that makes a big difference is how a girl paces their career. I think some girls have been great at how they progress with their sex acts. For example I think Kelly Divine did a great job of going to the next level during her career. It's almost ahrd to believe but there was a time that Kelly didn't do anal and her sex scenes were pretty conservative. Overtime she got "harder" and "harder" and she didn't drag it out too long. Girls who do this keep me interested and I want to see what they do next. But overall I don't get "burnout". I might get to a point where I don't buy movies just to see a particular girl but I always enjoy watching their scenes when I buy stuff that they're in and they factor in to my purchases.
^Are there really major differences between a scene shot for one studio vs one done for another studio? Unless the performer is doing something that she has never done for the other studio(s) then I find that you mostly get variations on themes. That's not to say that the scene is not good but that you are not really getting a lot more than you already had. At least if the performer is in a scenario based movie then she may be able to fade into her character and this way you get a normal woman who looks like a porn performer having sex on screen. Although I think pacing is a great idea. I don't think most girls entering porn today can afford to do that. At least not unless they have other means of income(I think some of these may not be the healthiest ones either). The days when a new girl could pace herself and choose to do mostly vanilla stuff and make a living are no more. Unless she is willing to do hardcore right away then I don't know if she can survive for more than a couple of months. I think that's too bad because we probably loose more new porn performers than we make up.
Although you might see it differently, I see a big difference between some of the studios on how they shoot scenes. For example: Most of the stuff from the JULES JORDAN studios usually stars with the girls in some sort of sexy outfit and there's about 5 to 10 minutes of posing before the guy appears and starts the action. The sex is usually a bit harder and shot better than say a BANG BROS or other studios. The same goes for EVIL ANGEL but with EA the girl usually interacts with the cameraman/audience and the sex is a bit harder/more intense than JJ stuff. ELEGANT ANGEL usually goes for a slicker/classier vibe. BRAZZERS has vingettess/senarios. DOGFART is low budget with the women usually dressed in typical normal clothes and the sex usually is tamer. I could go on...but I just see a big difference in the studios in how the shoot, what they shoot, an the way they handle the sex. I don't see JULES JORDAN, ADAM & EVE, WCP, DIGITAL PLAYGROUND, BRAZZERS, etc., as being interchangable in any way other than they all have sex acts.I believe a girl can still pace but the pacing must move faster. I think Chastity Lynn did a great job of pacing her sex acts and it worked well. I think Yurizan Beltran is starting to get more attention since she started going a bit "harder" and her pacing has been good so far. But overall I think if a girl is simply good looking enough and has a big enough fanbase she can get by with slower pacing or not getting too extreme at all. I think Nikki Benz proves that.
