Did you ever like your favorite star so you much you kinda wish they would just quit because you like them so much? I wish Maya Hills would retire (again) for just that reason. I know it's a tad hypocritical considering I wouldn't know who she was were she not getting her ass stretched open in front of a camera, but she just seems so genuinely sweet I can only think it will not end well for her. She's already had issues that made her quit once before and I can only think that a need for cold hard cash made her come back, which is not good. I can only think of what Jenna Fine once said in an interview about Savannah in GQ that you have to find something in it that you can enjoy or it will eat you alive. Not to mention I just don't want to see her being choked and slapped by the likes of Mr. Pete and Tony T. Even with Manuel Ferrara it's annoying. In Evil Angel 3 she's trying desperately to kiss him and all he's thinking about is choking her and getting to the next ATM. Even if she likes it, there are limits to this shit (much, much better is her scene with Anthony Rosano in Big Wet Asses 11, where we get two people enjoying one another). This time I'm thinking about Lana Sands (she was wonderful) who said in Vibe that Sean Michaels was possibly being too much of a genuine lover for a business strictly about fucking (ironically she's gone for good, but he came back). I never got it from him, but I do get this vibe from Maya. Also, Tiffany Mynx. A legend and I adore her, but I don't sense the respect she deserves. If these people can't appreciate you, baby, leave. And take the under appreciated Rayvness with you. Perfect body, great attitude, does everything, why isn't she on ever boxcover (Maya's one saving grace)? Who would you rather see gone than subject to mistreatment or a potentially bad end?
I wish that Isabel Ice would retire, marry me and do filthy things to (and with) my penis that would make me WANT to come home at night after a long day's work instead of enjoying a frosty Tuborg at the corner pub with office mates. Ah, romance... Zen
I wish my favorite stars would stay happy and healthy for the rest of their lives, no matter how long they continue in the business. At first I thought this was going to be about liking someone's early work better than their later work, and the cults that develop around mainstream artists who die young or go crazy that don't develop around artists who live to reach old age. I've never undersood that.

I understand the OP completely, and yes, in retrospect there are women I wish had gotten out before they became bitter, or worse, found Jesus. I don't know what the big search is about. Everybody knows Jesus is in jail. Everybody finds him there.
I can't say that I ever took the approach of wanting my favorites to quit. One of the things that many of my favorites have in common is that they don't work for every Tom, Dick and Harry. Even so, I'm sure they've run into the occasional jerk in the business, but this is an occupational hazard in any field of entertainment. Try working the music club circuit sometime. Having said that, I agree that scenes would be so much hotter if guys would actually cue off of their female partners, instead of playing robotic Roccos. About the only schtick that doesn't annoy me is Stefano's, because he'll actually engage his partner, rather than treat her like a piece of plastic.
Just like I want my fav athletes to retire "at the top" of their game (like Gretksy did), and not stay on too long, embarrassing themselves when they can no longer compete with the best in their profession, I feel the same way about pornstars. Janine, Christy Canyon, Sunset Thomas, Nina Hartley and Jenna Jameson, all favs of mine, probably stayed too long. On the other hand, Silvia Saint, Jenteal, Nikki Dial, Tawny Roberts, Nikki Tyler, and Lexie Marie left when they were young, still had the "physical goods" and their loyal fans wanting more. That's the way it should be. Today's top performers like Teagan, Jesse Jane, Devon, Savanna Samson, Stormy, and Carmen Luvana are at the point in their careers where after every sexvid they should question if their "best" is behind them--and it's time to move on. Excellent point. Leave at the top of your game, not as that sad person who just doesn't know when to quit. And definitely before you just burn out quickly like Naomi another performer I hope never returns. When she wound up in Europe doing double anal I knew the end was near even before the weight loss. Wouldn't you have rather she left before she became that stick figure? So sad.
Hi,Well, that´s the "bad" part about being a porn consumer. All your life you may have been "together" with your star(s). When they retire you eventually realize that you have grown old ... and your "good" years are gone too. Then there may not be so much left other than find a new one or subscribe to a beer company Cube
I don't wish they would retire at all. But, I do wish that more of them would pay attention to their finances so that they could be set up better when they do finally quit the business.
I wish Nick Manning, Brian Surewood, Mark Davis, Tony Tedeschi, Mark Wood, etc. would retire. Don't you get tired of looking at these blobs? Include Manuel Ferrara in that.
I remember one time there was this fan who wished his favourite performer would retire, so he took it upon himself to make it happen. His name was Mark Chapman, if I recall correctly...
I hate the word retire in Porn. There is a difference here. You can't retire in porn after putting in say a year of work and effort. Just like in any other job you can't retire after a year or two. You have to put in years of dedication and hard work. If not, it is more or less just quitting. Women that have the right to use the word retire when they leave are women like Jenna Haze, Stormy, Jenna Jameson, Tera Patrick, Savanna Samson, Katsumi, Teagan Presley, to name a few.

To echo Derek117: Porn is a contact sport. Just like a boxer's body can take only so many punches, the body of an American Football Player can play only so may downs and so it is that a pornstar's body has only so many scenes in it. I always breathe a sigh of relief when I find out that one of my girls has retired. But at the same time feel robbed because unlike the all time greats in spectator sports, porn's all time greats do not get the chance to celebrate their retirements with their fans. I must say, I did get that feeling when I saw Avy Scott struggling w/ an enormous cock on "Racks and Blacks" I thought " is she just doing it for the money"? I never had that thought before that. I wasn't hoping she'd go away like she did, but I did feel for her. Hopefully she took the David Bowie or The Who's Retirement plan....
Well, I don't have too many favorite stars but I can certainly relate. There's nothing to be gained from anyone continuing to do something past the point of being miserable doing it. It doesn't serve anyone but the greedy and the heartless. When you lose the thrill of doing something (Assuming it was there in the first place) it's probably time to move on. Sometimes I see a really fresh, sweet newcomer and it really is kind of upsetting knowing what's going to (or might) happen to her. Not sexually. If a girl has her head on straight, the sex isn't necessarily anything that she can't survive. No matter what it is. But emotionally and psychologically. The sweetest, nicest people are the ones who are so easily destroyed by a business like porn. But I've known girls in the past who started out really sweet and nice and ended up bitter. A lot of people do. I dunno.

To the extent I engage in wishing, it's usually more along the lines of wishing that some performers had not gotten into the business in the first place. Ironically, I tend to have these feelings mostly about performers I enjoy watching the most. Once they're in, they're in, and I suspect that their future isn't going to be much different if they do 3 scenes versus 300 scenes, so they may as well stay in as long as they can and make as much money as they can. The only exception to this is that I wish that they would get out before they start listening to the voices in their head or whispering in their ears that tell them that they need plastic surgery.
There are a few current and future Hall of Famers on that short list. But there are also a few that are anything but and will be nothing more than flash-in-the-pan footnotes in adult history.

Its funny how stuff works, if you say you are done, people start telling you dont leave i love your films or get mad if they even find out if you are about to quit. And here i hear that the girls that are on top of their game should......make up your mind guys. i dont believe you should be in it over 10 years i mean, no matter how good you can do, you are not going to continue looking the same , but why quit when you have only been in it 4-5 years and everyday it gets better for you?
I understand what you're saying, Carmen. And, IMO your "key" point is a performer should stay in the biz as long as "it gets better for you." But, for many performers (just like some veteran athletes), it seems they can't recognize "when" it is no longer "good" for them to be in the biz--or that they're no longer performing up to their own previous level.

I TOTALLY agree with you and understand 100% I will never be one of those, i give my self at lease no more then 2 years before i am out...unless of course i am behind the camera. No matter how good my fan base may be after 2 years, i don't want to turn out being the old and beat up porn star everybody talks about....LOL
Like anything else, it's always best to know when to call it a day. I feel for the actress that have been out for years then make a 'comeback' 'cause they are broke. I'd hate to think one of my favorites was miserable living a life she despised because she didn't see any other options.
if a formerly retired actress returns to porn, it is HER decision, no one else's. there are PLENTY of other ways to earn a living than being a porn performer. people need to take responsibility for their decisions...i have no sympathy for performers who come back to the business but "despise" it...no one is forcing them. everyone has options. it is just that those options aren't as easy money as porn.... bottom line.....if you don't want to do porn...THEN DON'T DO PORN.
Love you, Carmen. You don't need to worry about being "old and beat up." And, your enthusiasm is still there. That's all that matters. BTW, I'm already telling my friends that you deserve the "Best" of everything awards at the next AVN's for your performance in "Eden." I haven't seen the complete sexvid, but from what I have seen it looks like Adam & Eve has finally put you in a product worthy of your talent!
