driven Member 73 Posts 9/03	Posted - May 4 2004 : 11:02PM evil angel is my fav company hands down. but its also the only company i buy from that constantly has messed up discs. out of the last 6 discs I've bought from evil angel, 3 of them (ass collector, nudes poppin 9, and service animals 6) have not played or lock up or pixelate or do something where you can't watch it. i thanked the lord that Fashionistas seemed to play okay (other than 2 slight pauses at a couple points--not sure if all the discs have this or this is another defective disc). i've never had problems with DVDs before (mainstream or xxx), just from evil angel. just thought id comment, see if other people have similar experiences. On the second bonus scene it would pause for about 3-5 seconds about 57 seconds into the scene. I haven't had any other problems. [Link]

OREN Anarchy Films 250 Posts 12/03	Posted - May 5 2004 : 7:33PM I've been authoring DVDs for five years now. I've worked with all the major studios and main stream studios. I've seen it all. There are two reasons for non-play DVDs. The first reason is the DVD player. Generation one DVD players pick and choose DVD-9s. Meaning some times they will read the information on the Disc and some times they will not. Generation one DVD players were made between x-mas 2000 to 2001. A second reason is the replication process. A replicator must change the Target of the replication machine every 80,000 DVDs. If he did not change it on time, most likley the DVD want play. Regarding freezes on a DVD, it created on a DLT change. A DVD-9 made out of 2 DLTs(Duel Layer Tape) Sometimes if it is not mastered corectly( The Glass Master), you will result with a pause. Pixalation is simply result of a low bit encoding rate. The lower the bit rate, the more footage you can fit on a DVD. Sometimes the disc is just full of dust, many times cleaning the disc with windex will solve the problem. Consumers usually blame the production companies for poor quality when the problem comes on their end. A cheap DVD player will not play DVD- nine clearly because it built with one laser eye that reads the information. In order to enjoy a DVD-9 you must buy a double laser DVD player. Remember, finger prints, dust or the diner you ate last night would not help the DVD. You must clean your DVDs before you playing it. As far as I know, Evil Angel have one of the top DVDs out there and if one or two titles have a problem it does not mean that all of them have it. Trust me, I've seen much worse. Oren [Link]

Oren Click to expand Nonsense, all DVD players conform the DVD-Forum specification and therefore can play DVD9 fine. However, some may have problems when a disc is not mastered as well, simply because their laser isn't good enough. Dual laser is often needed for reading CD-R discs (i.e. a dedicated DVD laser and a dedicated CD laser). [Link]
