Hi, I bought my first Evil Angel disc, a copy of Flesh Hunter 2 and experienced problems from the 4th or 5th viewing. Picture breakdown and blocking. Now it just wont play at all. Is there anything I can do? Do Panasonic dvd players not like Evil discs? Any advise would be a help. I am now worried if I buy it again or any other title the same thing will happen. Thanks Jamie UK
Jamie, refer to this thread about disc problems with Flesh Hunter 2 - Flesh Hunter 2 problems in Jeannie Rivers scene. It sounds like you have a copy from the troubled first run.Tricia Devereaux's advice (Evil Angel DVD). Don't worry about buying DVDs from Evil Angel in future; their handling of the problem was excellent and must no doubt have cost them considerably in time and money.
You probably bought the disc that came off the first run, as rieekan333 said, because I had that same problem when I oredered it. I bought it when it first was released and after I exchanged it, NO PROBLEMS.
I have 49 Evil Angel DVDs, with several more to be ordered soon, I only have/had a(n) persistent problem with one other title, which is Rogue Adventures 3.
But no other Evil Angel discs have given me any trouble.
Just to verify EVil Angel's fast response to the first-run problems; I just recently purchased FH2 at a B&M retailer and the sticker had "0702" on it. Fearing the worst I selected the Jeannie Rivers' chapters in question and it played fine. There is a slight pause at chapter 32 where the layer switch occurs but it plays cleanly through to the end. I used a Panasonic DVD player and purchased this disc at Tower records, perhaps they are one of the retailers that pulled the 1st run copies in time.
My copy of Flesh Hunter 2 plays fine on my Panasonic, so I don't think it's a matter of Panasonic's not liking EA DVDs.

I have the same problem: Just bought Space Invaderz on a trip in some sex shop in Southern Europe and am up North again and the thing does not play, worse it freezez my laptop! Do you really think I can send that dvd directly to Evil Angel for a replacement now? (Cannot wait to see Auroras triple! Shit!)
I recently purchased Buttman's Toy Stories and it would not play in the DVD player in my laptop (only one I have). I am still hoping to get a copy of that that will play.

Druber- a lot of the "Evil Angel" DVDs in Europe are not DVDs that were made by us in the United States. They are a licensed product made by European companies. I don't really know details about those products, but out of curiousity, have you tried the DVD in another player other than the one in your laptop?
Anal888 - since you're here in the United States, my comment to Druber doesn't apply to you. However, we cannot guarantee playability in DVD-Rom players. We do everything we can to try to make our DVDs as compatible as we can with all types of players, including DVD-Roms. Send me an email about this, and I have a couple other questions for you.

I don´t buy porn DVDs, but a friend of mine does, mainly imported Evil Angel titles, and sometimes (not always) he does have some problems playin´ em on his DVD-Rom. In all but one of the occasions, updating the firmware did the trick and solved the snafu.

I just bought a copy of Flesh Hunter #2 last week and it's got the same problem that people were complaining about months ago, the Jeanie Rivers scene breaks up (and I'm using a Sony DVPS360). I must have gotten one from the old batch too. Tricia, how about in the future when something like this happens, you put a sticker on the cover, or better yet, put out a new cover for the new run of discs so that we know right away if were getting a bad copy or not. Now I have to return this disc and probably get a defective as a replacement, and the merry-go-round will go on forever trying to get a good disc or my money back. Maybe the next time this happens (hopefully it won't) make a slight change to the cover (didn't you guys do that for Rocco's Initiations #3) saying it's a new version or something like that so we know what were getting. Just a suggestion.
Evil Angel were more than reasonable in attempting to remedy the situation. Read this thread for specific details. It would have been nice if they changed the actual DVD covers, but that would have cost them even more (on top of reprinting the DVDs) and probably would have been even more difficult. It's just bad luck that a good run was printed with the original colour dots.
The company kept in contact with consumers through this board and presumably others, and responded to the situation quickly and efficiently. That earns my respect and I'll happily buy more DVDs from them in future. (It's safe to assume this experience would improve the general quality of all their future DVDs.)
I'm curious what store you're using M.B. I can't think of an ADT affiliate that would give you a "merry-go-round" either with replacing the DVD or refunding your money.
P.S. It's also possible that you do have a reprinted copy. My player has occasional difficulties with the Jeanie Rivers scene (around ch32-34), which result from a layer change rather than any technical problems, according to others on the board.
I did not buy it from an ADT affiliate but I don't think I'll have a problem getting a return or refund (I'm just wondering if the one copy they sent me was bad, maybe that whole stores stock is bad, I don't want to have keep sending copies of the same movie back and forth and spend money on shipping). I've requested they scan through the copy they send back to me to make sure it's okay. they are pretty good when it comes to customer service. I noticed the slight pause during the layer change too, which I don't mind at all, it's the breaking up of the picture and freezing at around the 1:33:10-1:34:00 mark of the feature that messes up the disc totally. This is a very hot movie, I just hope I can find a good copy.
IIRC, Evil Angel intended to have a slightly different cover on the re-release for just this reason. However, somewhere along the line someone screwed up and reprinted the original one.
Thamkyou for all your replies, I contcted dvdxtreme who supplies me the disc and I am afraid to say they have not even bothered to reply. I have to say the their customer service has gone way down since a guy called Todd left last year and also they have been bought out. Any other guys had problems? So I lay my hopes now to you Trica, maybe I can send my disc back to Evil Angel for a replacement. I can be contacted at jamie.pidgeon@bushinternet.com Thanks again Jamie UK
