Maybe you can help me out with this one. I made a bet with my friend that Jules Jordan accounted for over 60% of Evil Angel's overall sales in the past year. Unfotunately I can't back up that statement without hearing from you. You don't have to go and give me the exact percentages I just want to know if I'm right?

I would say you are wrong Sanders, at least as far as 60%.
Jules certainly is popular, with a group of fans and the genre that he produces. But many of the other directors also have just as strong a fan base for the genre that they produce. But fans of one director may not be the same group as fans of another director.
John Leslie, John Stagliano, and Joey Silvera come to mind, and probably Christoph Clark as well.
That is one of the strengths of Evil Angel and the directors that they have chosen, IMO, the diversity of the lines, and the ability of each director to garner a fanbase.

Sanders - sorry, can't tell you if you're right or wrong.
Just that with Evil Angel selling 10 strong producer lines, it doesn't seem likely that ANY one of them would have over 60%.
The 10 are (in alphabetical order): Belladonna Christoph Clark John Leslie John Stagliano Jonni Darkko Jules Jordan Justin Slayer Joey Silvera Nacho Vidal Rocco Siffredi
Thanks for your response. This thread may have come off as a knock to all the other directors but that really wasn't the purpose. Darkko and Slayer have bright futures but in 2004 they were really just getting their feet wet and only released a total of 7 DVD's. Joey Silvera had another strong year but in my opinion his product was not as great as it was in 2002 and 2003. He only released 3 Service Animals which is huge $$$ making line. He substituted Service Animals for a lighter edge Hell Cats series and an abundance of She-Male Titles. The same goes for John Leslie, his product wasn't as good in 2004 as in previous years which was also the general consensus from posters on this forum. Belladonna is probably gonna go down in history as the greatest female director of all time but she only released 2 titles in 2004. Rocco has taken a back seat to performing in the past year so his titles haven't been as strong and in addition to that the last couple editions of his Animal Trainer series have recieved very little feedback from reviewers for some reason. Jules Jordan had a remarkable 2004 w/ 21 AVN Nominations which comprised of a variety of releases for several markets from Asian(Invasian), mainstream(Gina Lynn's Darkside), interacial(Once You Go Black 3), current contract stars(Jenna Haze vs Krystal Steal) and the usual(FH, AW, WOAD).
Jules Jordan- 45% Christoph Clark-10% Joey Silvera-15% Darkko/Slayer-10% Rocco-10% Others-10%
I think that's a realistic percentage scale, yes 60% was probably pushing it.
who cares what the percentages are, they kick ass! that's why I'm a supporter and when an EA title comes out I want to buy I'm not disappointed. Evil Angel is a place where creativity can flow freely. you've seen it with Justin Slayer coming onboard and damn how you've seen it with Nacho and his latest flick. don't sweat the small stuff when it comes to money. unless you find there's some missing.

Yes, Evil Angel has the best stable of directors in the business. Congratulations on being the peak of porn.
You're right it's not that big of a deal, I was just curious and I just think it's interesting stuff to see who sells what. Threads like this may inspire directors to try to out do the other directors on the roster.

I understand what you intend with 'inspire', but actually I don't want to see it.
'Trying to out do' the others too often leads to copycat productions and just inserting more blatant circus acts, as if to extend the shock value.
The strengths, as I see it, with Evil Angel is that the directors each have their own 'style' or vision of porn that they are trying to portray and capture in the movie. I would rather see them continue to shoot their 'vision' and build on the strengths that they have so carefully developed in their previous releases of their series. That would increase the value of their product, but at the same time maintain the individuality that I see in their products.

DDon- wonderfully put.
It's one of the reasons John is SO picky about who he takes on as a director. When one director has a successful movie or series, it strengthens all of our directors, and if John were to take on a weak director, it would hurt the reputations of the current directors that we distribute.
In my personal opinion, all of our directors have their own strengths and their own unique product line.
Retailers hate taking chances. When EA or any other distributor picks up new product, they leverage the repution and sales success of their current products to get retailers to try something new. (If it's from EA, it has to be good.)
This sort of leverage lets a company like EA take a chance on an all male title, or a big-budget, shot on film feature. But this leverage is hard-earned, precious, and easily squandered.
it would be wonderful if your husband tutored or mentored younger directors who want to be the next big thing. how about a porn reality series that does just that best director gets a contract with Evil Angel Productions. if something like that was offered even I'd put my hat into the ring
If you do the math, you will realize that 60% of all Evil Angel sales is actually a ridiculously large number. In order for 60% of Evil Angel sales to be JJ titles, that would mean that for every 1 disc sold from each of the other directors, there would have to be 13 Jules Jordan discs sold.
There are 10 directors at Evil Angel (9 excluding Jules). For Jules to sell 60 percent, that would mean that the other 9 would collectively sell 40 percent. If each of them sold 1 disc each that would be 9 DVD's. 9 is 40% of 22.5 (for arguments sake lets round that down to 22). That would mean that the remaining 60 percent of 22 equals 13. So, in order to have 60% of the sales, every time that 9 discs are sold by all of the other directors combined (1 each), Jules would have to sell 13.
Go pay your friend whatever you bet him. He's right.
