Has anybody been using excaliburfilms.com lately?

It seems like there customer service has went down the tubes. I almost never get a reply to my emails, the site has been running slow with errors, and HUGE shipping delay. I live in Orange County and it sometimes take two weeks when it says "in stock"

Have placed about an order a month from Excalibur for the last couple years. Am happy with their service and product.
My collection consists largely of very old and obscure titles.
Yeah, they backorder stuff. I am willing to wait.

I order from Excalibur all the time. My experience has been mixed. I find their way of listing availability very annoying - they list a lot of stuff they don't really have. I'm always getting e-mails a few days later saying "oops! we don't really have that!" when the listing said "in stock". And if they SAY "1-2 weeks".... fuggedabadit!! They do have an incredible variety in stock, though - when everybody else is out of a title they may still have it. Their customer service varies according to who you happen to get - all the way from good to truly wretched. I have succeeded in returning/exchanging defective stuff with them, but it often takes some effort and ignoring semi-surly "customer service" reps.

I have had bad experiences with them for some time with respect to getting DVD's sent to dealing with them on returns. They seem to have a good selection of older material, but I would recommend that you use another source, as they've gone way downhill over the past several years.

I stopped ordering from them because on my last order (last year) one title was back-ordered, Virginia Beaver invited me to select an alternate item, which I did: not available either (although the site listed it as in stock).
2nd choice: not available
3rd etc....up to 6 or 7 picks !! I stopped.

I ordered a lot from them especally for their exclusive dvds (classics, among other). They were reliable in terms of delivery

Damn shame. I keep getting tempted to order some of those exclusive DVD reissues of old VHS favorites, but I had site-access and other ordering/membership problems with them 7-8 years ago and have been leery ever since.

There are at least 20 exclusive disks I would buy immediately if I thought it would go smoothly.

And, no, I would never accept an "alternative item" even if it is in stock.

I've had nothing but good luck with them when purchasing titles that are "Excalibur Exclusive" and in stock. I've received on disc from them that didn't play properly (one of their "exclusives" and they replaced it quickly, no questions asked, based on my e-mail. They didn't even ask me to return the original.
