I've noticed that excaliburfilms.com have some movies available on dvd that nobody else does.
Best Of Erica Boyer, Amber Lynn, Ginger Lynn etc are all sold by them on DVD, but nobody else sells them.
Are these discs in house DVD-R's that they have been licensed by VCA to sell? It's kind of confusing, why would VCA allow one store to sell DVD's of titles VCA themselves haven't released on DVD yet? it's puzzling.
Anyone order any of these discs from them and if yes, were they factory manufactured discs or were the DVD-R's?

Hi,

These wouldn't necessarily be DVD-Rs, as Excalibur digitally formats these titles. So, although on a small scale, these are manufactured discs. However, these manufactured discs, as far as my experience with Excalibur goes, should be considered VCDs rather than DVDs (i.e., the don't have interactive menus with special features and scene selections options). Although I have not bought any of your listed comps, I did buy the 80s classic "Bedrooms and Boardrooms" from them, which they themselves manufactured. All in all, they do a pretty good job. Hope that helps.

All the best...

Way back when, in the days of VHS, Excalibur was given permission to do thier own replication of movies. At the time, nobody had ever heard of DVD. So, it's probably a fair guess that whatever agreement Excalibur had with the studios was vague enough regarding physical format that they were able to start replicating those same movies on DVD.

You can assume that any movie that is only carried by Excalibur will be a DVD-R and you can assume that the quality will be that of VHS.

That having been said, beggers can't be choosers. When Excalibur has DVD's that I want and can't get elsewhere, I've bought those movies from Excalibur. If they subsequently are released by the original company on DVD, I will buy them again. But for now, I own movies that I wouldn't otherwise own if it weren't for Excalibur.
